Last year's majorly rumoured target Scott mactominay wins Serie A player of the year.

Never understood the amount of stick he got. Would have been the box to box midfielder with an eye for goal that people here keep going on about.

StuinSalop

Grealish is totally unrealistic.  Thankfully, not at all what we need.

I still think we made the right choice. If we got McTominay instead of Berge, we would have had only Lukic as a number 6 option. Also Napoli played a system that suited him way more than the system we play or the system Manchester United played. Also Serie A is a very different league to the PL. I could go on and on. Hats off to him for an amazing season, but I still think we made the right choice.

I don't think it was a choice on our end as much as that McTominay would rather move abroad to a title challenger.

He is loving life in Italy by all accounts.

Edwards on loan at QPR looks a good young prospect in Central defence just been picked for England's U21s

Tomas Soucek has told West Ham that he's off at the end of the season, might be 30 now but he is fit and plays plenty of games,  all action player that pops up with the occasional goal, wouldn't mind him on a three year contract.

Just what we need, another 30 something.

Pereira confirming that Palmerias were bidding for him during the winter window and that he didn't want to leave because it was in the middle of the season in an interview with O Globo. Also says he hasn't decided if he wants to stay or leave. Google translated below.

Your name was also linked to Palmeiras at the beginning of the year. How was the conversation with president Leila Pereira and why did it not go ahead?

They made the offer and spoke to my agent. Leila is someone I respect a lot. I admire her work. But I have a lot of affection for Flamengo and I was in the middle of the season with Fulham. I wanted to finish the season. I don't like to leave things behind in the middle of things. I spoke to my agent: "I'm going to move on now."

What now? Are you thinking about staying in Europe or returning to Brazil?

I didn't think much about it. It was a tough end to the season. I told my agent that I'm going to go on vacation and take some time off. When I return, I want to prepare myself as best I can, because it's a World Cup year. I want to be part of the group. I haven't decided anything.

Interesting, slightly different translation here of AP article

With the emergence of King ...

I'd rather cash in on Andreas & Reed. (20-25m). Assuming TC also moves on...

Then bring in 1 CM like Hamer (15m) + Palhinha if at a good price (20-25m). I really feel like a combative DM like Joao could tighten us up in games to see out leads better .

So net spend of 15m in fees to upgrade the centre midfield to

DM - Palhinha, Lukic
CM - Berge, Hamer
CAM - King , ESR

Knowing that several of those can play in deeper or more advanced roles if needs be

Average age drops minorly as João and Hamer younger than TC ,AP and Reed

But importantly there's still room for the young King to make first CM or CAM bench role his own (and if he grabs his chances start there)

Then if Diop wants out id look for a replacement at similar price range as he departs for (15m?)

1 LW to replace Willian (nelson?) 15m or loan with option to buy

1 striker who can also play wide (30m)

Roughly 60-70m spend in total seems consistent with what we generally go for.  That's assuming we can retain king Kenny too

With potential to loan another LB to compete with Robinson. And if we want another backup keeper that's also something we can do

Hamer is 27 I believe he is 28 in June to me that is too old max 25 otherwise we will run out of assets our recruitment doesn't grow on trees don't dig a grave silva we will be here after your gone.

This one is interesting...Ben Doak from Liverpool. FF News says he's heard he's one on our list:

https://x.com/FulhamTransfer/status/1926342804692730144

Been on loan at Boro. Only 19. Liverpool apparently want £30 million. Supposedly Everton, Palace and Bournemouth are sniffing around. 7 assists and 3 goals in the championship this year.

Boro fans absolutely raving about him on their forum. Comparing him to Adama in terms of ability to take folk on but in their words with a better end product/football brain. His attacking carries and assists stats are impressive. Also sounds like he is a grafter and has a tonne of confidence. Many seem to think he's going to be a star and potentially good enough for Liverpool.

Never actually watched him play as not watched the champ this year. £30m still seems very steep but potentially somewhere around £20m to £25m could be a good investment if he's as good as the Boro fans think and he can make the step up? Only thing is he's a right winger and we need a left more but an interesting one and like the profile.

Anyone seen him play?

Don't worry Twig i'm 76, 77 in July and i'm signing a 3 year deal on Wednesday (100,000 per week, unfortunately it's Baht!).

Super Mick

How many players that are mentioned in rumours do we actually sign? Or players people want?  I'd stick my neck out and say very, very few.

Not really transfer news but comes from Alan Nixon who isn't the average BS story journo;

It was a perfectly reasonable comment. He didn't suggest 28 was too old to play, rather that it is too old to have any asset value at the end of the contract. Whether you agree with that strategy or not, fair enough. However no need to post the old slap, slap, slap.

The post suggested signing 2 players I would assume would be 25 or under (wing and striker)

Then 2 other players that were late twenties but would still bring the average squad age down.

We like a balance here. With King, Godo ,osmand knocking on the door. Muniz, ESR, Bassey we'd still have plenty younger options. The point was to facilitate not blocking kings path too much whilst bringing in a pretty realiably quality CM to replace departing AP and TC at a decent price
