I'd be grateful if he tried focusing on what he's paid for right now.

Who says he's not 🙄

Been told Chukwueze will be a Fulham player. Source seems pretty certain on it 🤔

Chukwueze fits the revitalising career MO that we are currently on. Think he'd be a decent replacement to Traore if we end up selling him.

He is below 27 at and won't cost as much as the Arsenal or Chelsea cast offs at least.

Not STM here, but it feels a bit uninspiring. He'll be heading off to AFCON along with Iwobi and Bassey. I don't really see what he offers that is different to our existing wingers. He's never scored more than 6 league goals in a season. It feels like just adding numbers rather than a jump in quality.

He ended up on the bench after his injury , would be another player missing during AFCON
If it wasn't for the medication I,d be chewing on your skin

League level (international football is different to the PL), and we don't need a left back unless one is leaving. He has been pretty poor since his last season at City, he could get that form back I guess but not a rumour that for me is exciting.

But don't we need cover at LB?

Goes without saying he'd expect to be a starter and probably prefer to play in midfield.

IF true then I hope he can rediscover his Villareal form. He's a Nigerian Harry Wilson. Only has a left foot and plays on right wing and cuts in with left scores and creates lots of chances.

Quote from: Jeroen on July 30, 2025, 06:11:51 PMIf Newcastle sells Isak at £80m it's only logical that they look at Muniz and will be difficult to stop at £55M

As much as I don't want it to happen...

£55M will go a long way at a striker and younger talented player, so very difficult for Fulham. To hold onto him (with a higher wage & champions league football)
£55m for Muniz? Fancy valuing my house?
just out of interest did you think Brentford would get 71m for Mbuemo at the start of the transfer window?

Is there any chance that in amongst all these stories and rumours, and even more concrete stuff we're playing a game of numbers and patience..

So for instance, we may have spoken to Chukwueze, Sterling, KDH, Nelson etc, but we're seeing who's the genuine best long-term option based on a number of factors and holding off to officially signing anyone, until we're confident we've got our best option out of the bunch?

We clearly don't need Chukwueze, Nelson, Sterling etc etc all in one go, and part of me thinks this is just the staging process we go through in the market to negotiate and keep players coming along the pipeline, making progress in negotiations, before we pick the one or two we actually want?

Supposedly Sterling wants to come and is looking likely, similar with Nelson, Chukwueze.. Are we really going to sign all three?

History suggests not.

I imagine it's one extra winger to our current lot, and then if Adama goes we would add another.

We do seem to take forever to close out a deal. Nelson one has been supposedly near for a while; and we all remember the Hudson Odoi one a few years ago that was perpetually 'getting closer'. Bit of a shame that one didn't happen really as would have been a great signing.

His stats are pretty impressive to be fair:

https://fbref.com/en/players/b8a642fc/scout/12574/Samuel-Chukwueze-Scouting-Report

Very high on progressive carries, take ons and shot creating actions and that is the same looking back through the seasons.

In 21 games of playing time in Serie A and 4 goals and 5 assists which is actually very good at a goal contribution pretty much every other game.

In la Liga 21 goals and 16 assists in 97 games of playing time so a goal on tribute on every 0.4 games.

Only seems to have come up when Adama rumour came up so wonder if it is him plus two other wingers tgat we seemed to be going for before a possible Adama exit. If so then still plenty of cover for Afcon. If it was just him and Nelson with no Sterling or whoever on top and Adama left that would be more of a concern.

Count Flapula

Just don't see why we need 2 extra wingers really, unless someone is being sold.

We have Wilson, Iwobi, Adama, ESR, Sess, King, Godo (possibly going on loan to a Champ side?) all vying for those spots.

One in to fill the gap left by Nelson? Sure. But a second on top of that is only going to get in the way of playing time for these guys so someone must be off.

You could argue we need a Nelson replacement plus another if Godo goes on loan, but for me it's vital King gets more minutes this season for his development so 2 extra bodies in could block that.

If we do get 2 in then so long as both are a clear improvement on the above then great; or youngsters with a higher potential ceiling. But then sell one - otherwise 2 of a similar level in/none out would be counterproductive/a bit overly congested IMO.

Drewry66

I think Marco wants 5 wingers, especially with Afcon and Nelson being a risk. All reports seem to suggest we were after two before talk of Adama going. Godo will go on loan so if Adama stayed with runours something like:

Iwobi
Nelson
Wilson
Adama
Sterling/Ganzales, etc

Adama goes you sub in Chukwueze so would still mean 3 coming in instead of 2.

Yes Sess can play there as well but still don't think Marco sees him primarily as a winger even though we all do.

5 makes sense when you risk losing Nelso through injury and Iwobi is off for a month. Few injuries last year and we were really short. Winger also has to be he most subbed position in game to change games/freshen up the the attack so useful having a lot of them as a lot of rotation.

Agree with what you're saying but we'll also have ESR who can play wide left and has done so in the first two pre-season games, so I think that 2 will be enough coming in for now given we've also got Sess who can play either side. If the Zinchenko rumours are true then he can cover at LB if we need Sess to play further forward as well

Yeah that would be the only reason that he wouldn't go for 3 I think if Adama goes. ESR has looked really good left and his best season for Arsenal was there. If ESR marked for there however we either keep AP or we are potentially a bit short at 10 and I personally really want to see AP sold this summer while we can still make a bit of money on him. Yes Wilson can play there but again stealing from another position. Think it could go either way and could only be two if Adama goes but considering all the rumours of two before he was potentially off wouldn't be surprised at all if it was 3 if he did go. We'll see.

It all just feels a little safe does it not? Don't get me wrong, I do 'get' it, we're stable, we're okay, but Nelson, Chukweze, Sterling, Dewsbury-Hall? Just doesn't have me excited for next season personally.

To use a horse racing analogy, none of our targets are lightly raced unexposed could be anything types, instead they're all tried and tested over course and distance, solid performers in handicaps but no fireworks

Sess, Bassey, Cuenca, Castagne and even Tete have played at LB on a decent level. We have cover, the question is if we want someone that can really push Robinson.

Out of interest, what sort of 'name' would excite you then? As the names you mentioned, have some serious talent between them.
