Not listened to it yet, but will do later. Muniz has been offered a new contract but not accepted. So that clears that question up.

Quote from: The Little Dave on August 13, 2025, 02:49:46 PMI'm fluent in Portuguese and checked with two native speakers from Brazil, one living in Northern Italy so no bias  :slap:  :slap: . We all think it is stays.

And for those not aware it is extremely common for Brazilians to use Spanish phrases. You could drop a Brazilian in Mexico and they'd do fine.

But it's probably just the meme either way, and the language has nothing to do with it.

My wife is Brazilian and she said 'Se Queda' would never really be used in Brazil (he stays is 'Ele Fica;). She did say it is archaic Portuguese from Portugal phrase meaning 'if you fall'. But, there is no way Pereira would intend that as the meaning. He is obviously referencing the Pique - Neymar tweet.

So I basically agree with you!

Interesting my friend in Northern Italy who is Brazilian said "to be honest I never heard this expression" and then proceeded to question his life in moving to Italy and now he has no one to go to football with and got very sad.  :slap:  :slap:

But I made him answer me if he had to say which one sounds more right and he said for sure the "stay."

So I think this is purely a meme trick.

but a meme trick taking the mickey and he's going to leave or an ironic meme trick and he's actually staying? WHICH IS IT!!!??? ::cry::

This is the confusing thing for me. Obviously I don't know Muniz at all, but it does appear very out of character for him to joke around if he was going to leave or thought there was a high chance of him leaving. Plus for the hearts in black and white, it would feel very inauthentic and fake.

There is a phrase in Brazil that directly translates to "that person is roots." To be or have roots means to be a true person and authentic. I think we have all seen Muniz in his interviews, the way he conducts himself as having this very sought after Brazilian trait, it is a very good thing to be.

It would be a very fake thing for Muniz to do this post and from what I can tell our of character.

Obviously here we are looking wayyy too far into this post, but I think that is what this thread is for (I don't open this very much) and it's kind of fun  :slap:

Muniz didn't make the post. Pereira did. Agree Muniz would not do something like that but can definitely see Pereira doing it and likely did it without Muniz' knowledge.

Probably in trouble with the club

I wonder how our relationship with shaktar is after the Salomon debacle that year when I think we tried to be clever and force their hand. I'm gonna make some predictions just for fun and say I think we'll get Kevin but over pay in transfer day, Muniz will go but we'll get richarilison and the boy from inter, Nelson on loan and some sort of reserve utility defender from Chelsea on loan too.

Bugger! I was so busy reading all the posts I se queda'd over the cat.

Muniz joined TC at a Fulham Foundation kids footie event in Mitcham yesterday afternoon for what its worth.

Third choice lol we were taking the p***, no wonder he turned us down.

I mean...that was clearly the case though? We have 2 good strikers, we couldn't promise him he'd start, that would be more taking the p*** if it didn't materialise.

he was gonna have to compete with them for a spot, with a view to stepping into rauls place next season with this being his last contracted year.

Hardly taking the piss is it. Just reality for a younger unproven striker. At Leipzig he would have less competition with Sesko moving on

This silly season is an all-timer  :slap:

Yes we're scaling the heights here. Just wait for the Farnborough Airport brigade to click into gear.

Lol, yep we're due a flight radar from wherever Shakhtar play their home games these days (and indeed a debate about where that is)

If you're a £20m player moving abroad surely you'd be looking to be more than third choice? Like, why would we spend that amount on a player if, realistically, they're going to play Carabao Cup games and that's it?

Standard Fulham, can we get him at half his actual value and on a third choice pay grade.

And we wonder why our deals never get done in June / July

I was wondering how Shaktar would react if we just said thanks and walked away, of course I don't know if anyone else is in for him.

We were looking at spending £14 million on him, not £20 million.

Anyway, Götztepe were the ones turning the offer down, not Romulo.

Did he look happy? How was his miniscus? Was he wearing an Atlanta Falcons t-shirt and looking puzzled as to why they had sent him a bloody great crash helmet? What language was he speaking - vernacular Brazilian Portugese with a Ukranian accent? Croydon English? How many of the kids at the event have refused to sign a contract?

Assuming Muniz stays...

From our point of view it would have been brilliant succession planning. High quality option that we develop over the next year to take over from Raul when he leaves end of his contract.

From his point of view third choice for us or probable starter for Leipzig? No brainer for him. Said this all along. Why we'll end up with Teremi as a ridiculously hard sell to get anyone of Romulo s potential quality to play third fiddle even if only for a season.

The only other option is to go younger and not ready yet but then you have an issue if you need to call on them. Prob end up with Taremi then and we then try and sign a Romulo type player next year if Raul leaves.

Right but clearly that was far below his market value.
