I honestly still love this squad. I don't think a new signing is critically needed from a talent perspective, but it might be from a morale perspective, simply to show some ambition to the players and manager.

Forget whether you think Marco is a whinging git
Forget whether you think T K isn't a real DOF
Forget whether you think new rules will shackle the club
Forget whatever you think about the Khans
Forget whatever your views are of our financial situation
Forget what you think of AM

Even if we all start off from a truly " neutral position ' the current situation is clearly not great as it would seem that post January the vibes coming out of Craven Cottage were
We are on the up
We have ambition
We have targets for next season
We are at one in our desire  " great manager etc etc

Something has gone horribly wrong in the interim

Whatever it is , and whatever the cause  - we are not in a good place

Miscommunication , broken promises   ? Who knows ?

Quote from: flyingfish on August 22, 2025, 03:06:50 PMDoes this mean Kevin has fallen through? There's been no news in days?

Nelson was supposed to have been done weeks ago,I personally believe the club is putting out false info, just to keep the fans interested and hoping we are going after players that we're not really interested in...Joke carry on.

I think Nelson is a genuine target and on our list but because of injury the club are trying to negotiate the way its been suggested in the press. He could also be the option second to Kevin signing.

Not much looking seemingly likely atm though.

The owners don't want Nelson, I've been told that first hand, he's a Marco target, not theirs. Yes, there are big concerns over his fitness, but also his 110K salary a week, that Arsenal want us to fully absorb with an obligation. I can see the concerns, but I can't also work out why they've not been working on an alternative.

This is exactly what I have been told by a board member.  They see Nelson as a big risk.  Doesn't matter to Marco as he has less than a year left.  Our priority was ALWAYS to keep the squad together and add in a few places. This will still happen.  I know for a fact that Marco has a list of players he wants but without a big sale this would bust the club. Marco must know this so I really don't understand the outburst unless it purely posturing

I think you're correct in this is all posturing by Marco. It feels like him laying the groundwork for his departure and/or a disappointing season. Many might forget his reputation before coming to Fulham. I imagine he is reluctant to do anything that can be perceived as setting back the career rehabilitation he has achieved. If he finishes out his tenure here as a good soldier I'm sure he sees it as a springboard to his next step up the coaching ladder.

Quote from: Angus Telford on August 22, 2025, 06:27:08 PMThe thing is the UEFA model is based on wages only so substantially different from the model it was claimed further up this thread is proposed for the PL, which includes transfer spending in the cap. So not sure the logic that the PL will inevitably follow UEFA really works. In any case, if the choice is between putting ourselves at a certain disadvantage now through restricted spending, or maybe being disadvantaged later if/when we have to adapt to a possible rule change, I'd rather take my chances on the latter, especially given peers seem mostly to be doing the same.

I can't say you're wrong, but yours is, of course, a personal view, supported only by the apparent short-term strategy ('we'll cross that bridge when we come to it') of other clubs. I imagine the Club's hierarchy have some idea (more so than either of us) as to the possibility of SCR being implemented and, if so, how soon. Had we gone out this summer and spent £100M-plus on players, I can't say I would have been upset. Equally, however, I'm not going to be unduly critical of us for 'hedging our bets', perhaps to avoid the need for a fire sale of our talent in the future.

One point I shall make about the adoption of SCR in the P.L. is that should the 'not-so-big' clubs believe SCR makes it harder for newly promoted teams to stay up (their needing, as Sunderland have done, to substantially overhaul their playing squad and increase their spending on transfer fees and salaries) they may be in favour of the new method for purely selfish reasons. Maybe.

Ok what if it's somwthing like, we've agreed everything with juve and Luiz but he wants to wait Marco, do you want us to move on to player X or wait?

Marco- no we'll wait

Luiz goes to forest and player X has gone elsewhere

Marco - All have targets have gone

Who's to blame?

Everton have had a £42m bid for Dibling accepted...

Given how precarious their finances were... this is astonishing.

If Fulham are intent on holding back and only signing a freebie then we should all be worried.

We can't afford to go back to yo yo land with the EFL.

The squad is short so it doesn't matter how good the existing bunch are, they need help.

What is going on this window? £42m for Dibling? It's like every other PL club collectively went mad and started throwing their money around.

I know it sounds ideal that SCR is the issue in the background but it's simply not that. Silva knows the situation and he's openly stated they agreed where squad needed reinforcements. Ie 4 players, two wingers, a striker and a CM.

It's hard not to point to lack of interest ie investment here or just very low ambitions at this stage and I wouldn't blame Silva if he walked away to some extent. Definitely not signing another contract unless something drastic happens.

Super deflating.

But he wants players to improve the first team, the standard of player we want are gping to clubs in European competition.

Anyway forest and chelsea most have about 22 player space to chose from

This level of complacency with an aging squad is what gets teams relegated.

Are Jason Koumas or Carlton Cole still available  ? would take them right now ffs.

Quote from: FFC007 on August 22, 2025, 05:22:35 PMI think the aim for the club is to finish 17th as a minimum.

Perhaps the club figured that worked out for Spurs last year - they're now in the Champions League!

Just hope the tactic of waiting until the deadline day to get a good deal actually works for once, although no doubt it'll be more like leaving it to the last minute and trying to hijack a signing one of the promoted team is trying to make, as with Nelson last year.

FFC007

It's all gone quiet on here... might as well shut this down as they'll be no more signings since the press conference earlier!

Palmerias ready to offer €15 million.

This money plus the potential sell on fee for Harvey Elliot might give us the chance to spend some money in the next week or so - makes sense to bin AP now since he's not first choice in any position and thankfully won't be anymore

Although who can we realistically get for 20m?

Nelson loan + sterling loan and/or Iranian kid + taremi?

Well you'd have to assume that goes into the existing kitty and potentially means we can afford Kevin outright - based on who we're currently linked to, probs Zinchenko given he can play as a #8 and deputise at LB if needed and then maybe a curveball winger/forward option - Iranian guy maybe or potentially baby Mitro at Milwall as the dev option
