My point was to translate "let's just pay the 5m (because it's chump change)" because let's face it not many of us have 5m and it's just a number in the air  without any context. Where as if the tickets go up £150 there is wide spread outrage... Not remotely thinking about the resale or competition. Smaller clubs without the revenue streams of CL clubs need to ensure value for money.

Let's say the difference was 5m just for arguments sake... Also let's say there's 30,000 seats at CC. Would you pay an extra £150 a year on your seat so that Tony can splash the cash like some of the clubs?

The club already charge the most expensive prices in the whole league, so it's a bit of a mute point that they need to charge more in order to compete.

Bournemouth's stadiums capacity is only 12,000 or so... Nottingham Forest's if apparently less than 1,000 more than Craven Cottage. Palace's stadium, Brentford's stadium, are both smaller than us and in London. Brighton's is just over 1,000 more than us.

Brentford have already spent £90m+ this summer.. Brighton have spent between £60-£70m, Forest have spent well over £100m.

The logic you're pursuing or asking us to entertain is simply a fallacy logic, it's not grounded in reality. I appreciate the point you wanted to make, but it's just not practically true to need to follow that logic, you've made it up.

I don't think so. It's a squad game. Iwobi is the most proven out of the bunch. Kevin is young and raw, so unless he's particularly good from the get go, then expect him to be eased in over the course of the season at the least. We've cup and league games, plus the desire to push into Europe. Iwobi is obviously older, so there's some planning for the future with the moves (provided they actually perform).. iwobi can play a number of positions and was one of our most productive players last season.

Plus, Iwobi is off for AFCON for however many games.

Like it could literally be the minor fine details and most of its already been agreed In principle, no one knows. So just sit tight and see. Looks like it's very likely to happen at this point.

AFCON this time takes players away from 8 premier league games right through Christmas to mid January , thats why Silva and other managers referenced AFCON as a challenge for this window

Iwobi prefers to play on the right and if he gets his wish then Wilson & Traore will see less playing time! Does not have the engine or finesse to be an No8.

Yeah and Milan weren't letting Chukwueze go until their replacement was in which only cleared yesterday I believe so as much as I hate how late this is may have actually berm the selling clubs here.

Sorry general but loads wrong with your post. Yes, our most expensive tickets are amongst the most expensive in the league, but we're cheaper than many for normal tickets.

Also you point to spend by a few teams who have also lost a good number of their best players. We've lost Willian, Nelson and vinicius. Not near our best players last season.

I think you may yet be pleasantly surprised by chuk. Milan been a bit of a basket case of late tbh.

As for nelson , he's great , IF he's fit. Which is the issue. So many injuries it's just a big risk I can understand the club being cautious on.

Nelson has never come close to the level Chuck was at when he played for Villarreal, so I would imagine you would face some disagreement over this with actual football folks. Also Kevin is coming in to play on the left and Chuck on the right. Nelson is nowhere near Kevin in terms of talent and potential. Marco saw him for a year and clearly wasn't too keen. I trust Marco's eye for talent.

I believe some of the reason why the fee (and sell-on clause at 25%) is so high is that Kevin's original club Palmeiras still own 10% of his rights.

Meaning €4.5m of the supposed €45m is going to Palmeiras.

Presumably Palmeiras will maintain this 10% share on future sales too.

Why would they? You get the percentage when the club sells him not when his third club sells him.

Yes that's a good point.

Looks like FIFA banned third party ownership of players by clubs in 2015 (where clubs 'owned ' a % of the player) so Palmeiras can't ask for a 'perpetual' add-on fee for Kevin.

Presuming it's €45m they will receive €4.5m as a sell-on fee plus curiously 3% (€1.5m) in what's called a FIFA Solidarity Contribution. This is distributed equally to those clubs where the player was nurtured between 12 and 23, and can sometimes go as high as 5%.

No, I think it's clear Marco wanted him. The problem was that Arsenal wanted an obligation to buy, and we wanted only an option. We might still end up with Nelson in some compromise deal I suspect
