A bit off topic:

This just shows, in my opinion, that PSR rule isn't well made. Chelsea should be nowhere near the safest club considering their spending since new ownership arrived(not that they spent much less under previous ownership either).

Don't worry - they also get a 1bn for winning the Club World Cup - that other clubs were unable to join.

Sadly FFP, VAR and other systems are designed to keep the big boys at the top - it makes money for the bigger people, and therefore protecting that asset is the key.

Same as why bigger benches were introduced, as well - benefits the better clubs.

Our best 5 game streak in the whole season was when he started all the games so the facts disagree

And I thought he looked quite an exciting prospect. Especially when you consider that he hadn't enjoyed an extended run of games beforehand.

Agreed, he was the only winger we had who would consistently look to take on the full back and beat them, and his link up play with ESR and Jedi was really good. If we could somehow keep him consistently fit and healthy then having him back would be a no brainer I think, albeit that is the biggest of caveats

What were those 5 fixtures? Personally, I can't get over his injury record, its a concern to me. I was really excited for him, he looks brilliant in some aspects of his play, but I did feel like his end product was sloppy at times BUT I'd say I felt given gametime, and a regular run, that could of improved, but that's subjective.

Not sure how much stock I'd put into the game streak and Nelsons importance on that but injury aside, it was really deflating how things ended for him.

Yeah that's a comedy, I fail to understand how they have that much room despite spending billions. I know they've spread payments over many years, sold hotels, womens team too, but was under impression they were just scraping by and those were emergency measures. How can they be at the very top all of a sudden.

I liked him, but he did have a habit of holding on to the ball too long and sometimes running it off for a goal kick. He looked talented but a bit raw, unsure when to shoot, hold it, pass it.

Sure that can be developed. Silva obviously liked him, as I was surprised he started so soon despite being a loanee.

And the very fact that you're allowed to 'sell hotels' rather than budgeting from your gate/tv/sponsor income is absurd...but then sadly the game is crooked

This is purely based on revenue so I'd guess without the hotel and ladies team sales, given they didn't have CL prize money this year, they'd have been about 5th. Then add in those sales and it gives the extra allowance. People will moan but they were presumably assessed to be at fair market value.

I don't think their existing transfers are factored in - this is the amount they're permitted to lose, so in other words, the room they have to cover the amortisation on all those previous purchases.

Guaranteed, when he faces them next season for Fulham.

I, and I believe pretty much everyone else, don't dispute the fact that technically it's possible that they're first, what I'm trying to say that the rule is broken if they can do the shenanigans they do to avoid breaking the rules.

Think it's one of two things-

His agent trying to push for a new deal

Or

With the talk of silva it is unsettling and he would prefer to go than wait

Just thinking about Cherki as an example where the club were ambitious, but not ambitious enough.

It may be he never would have come to us, but I bet we still were offering £70/80K a week rather than £120-150K a week. If we got him for that £20m last Summer and he stayed fit, I reckon we at least get Europa League, and then we'd be selling him this Summer for a massive profit.

Ok. You said "considering their spending" so I was pointing out this doesn't appear to factor in the amortisation of previous transfer spending. Factoring that in, they may well be bottom.

That's fair. I don't think we necessarily even disagree then. My point is that whatever the reason is for them to be at the top of this list, there's something wrong with those rules, as they shouldn't be there. That rule just seems faulty.

All reports said he wasn't interested in coming to Fulham, period, he'd come off the back off a hot and cold season, no one was offering him 120k last summer ...never sounded like the issue was personal terms, He backed himself to play at a higher level and it's paid off.
