Daily Mail: Fulham relaxed about moaning Marco
Football editor of the Daily Mail Ian Ladyman has published historical quotes from 'a senior official' at Fulham designed to show how relaxed the club remain about Marco Silva's disenchantment with their recruitment.

Ladyman writes:

Fulham manager Marco Silva is unhappy with the fact his club haven't signed the players he wants this summer and has said so. At boardroom level they will not stress too much.

Silva is a coach who continues to improve year on year but he has also a habit of pushing the boundaries and testing the patience of those he works for.

When he was linked with the Tottenham job last June, Mail Sport spoke to a senior official at the club who just laughed.

'We are used to this with Marco,' he said.

'These stories come and go and strangely enough they usually start in Portugal.

'But in the end they settle down and Marco stays here...on what is a very good contract indeed!'

This is the second time in the final month of the transfer window that Fulham have briefed against their own head coach. Presumably, there was no room in Ladyman's copy to include the fact that Silva's 'very good contract' expires next summer – and that he's enhanced his reputation no end at Craven Cottage.

Fulham fans remember how long it took for the club's board to replace Kit Symons when they sacked a club legend because he didn't have the Whites close enough to the Championship play-off places. Based on that seven-week search that eventually secured Slavisa Jokanovic, you wouldn't bet on the Motspur Park masterminds making the right choice to replace Silva, should he refuse to sign a new deal.

Preview: Fulham vs Bristol City - prediction, team news, lineups
Two unbeaten teams are set to clash at Craven Cottage on Wednesday when Fulham take on Bristol City in the EFL Cup's second round.

The Cottagers are looking for their first win of the season, while the Robins will be hoping to make it three victories from five matches.

Match preview
Marco Silva's Fulham were dreaming of European football in 2024-25, but they fell some way short and failed to even finish in the top half.

Having started the current Premier League campaign with back-to-back draws, the Cottagers are now 13th in the top flight, and they may be concerned about their chances of qualifying for continental competition once again this time around.

After watching Crystal Palace reach the UEFA Conference League as a result of lifting the FA Cup last term, Silva's side could see winning the EFL Cup as a viable path to gaining admission.

On Sunday, Fulham came from behind to secure a point in a 1-1 draw with Ruben Amorim's Manchester United, thanks to an Emile Smith Rowe strike that cancelled out an own goal from Rodrigo Muniz.

Aiming to build on that stalemate and earn their first victory of the season on Wednesday, the hosts may take confidence from the fact that they have won three and drawn one of their four most recent home games, though they did close out the last campaign by losing four of their final five competitive matches.

Meanwhile, Gerhard Struber's Bristol City suffered disappointment in 2024-25's Championship playoffs, but their unbeaten record so far this season suggests that they could get another shot at promotion this term.

While the Robins will be prioritising their efforts in the league, they could be inspired in their push towards the top flight by a deep cup run.

In the first round, Struber's men beat League Two's MK Dons 2-0 at Ashton Gate, courtesy of a Jason Knight header with just six minutes on the clock and a sealing strike from Yu Hirakawa around the hour mark.

Most recently, the Robins followed up their 0-0 stalemate with Charlton Athletic by earning another point in a 1-1 draw with Derby County last Friday, a result that left them ninth in the second tier, two points behind Preston North End, Birmingham City, West Bromwich Albion and Coventry City in the playoff spots.

Bristol City may be the underdogs given that they are a lower-division team, but considering that they ended last season with three straight defeats on the road, the visitors will take heart from the improvements they have shown during their current four-away-game unbeaten run.

Team News
Fulham could opt to rotate some of their XI from the weekend, replacing the likes of Rodrigo Muniz with Raul Jimenez and Joshua King with Emile Smith Rowe.

Out wide, Timothy Castagne could be benched for Harry Wilson, while goalkeeper Bernd Leno may be rested with Benjamin Lecomte deputising.

On the other hand, Bristol City will be without a number of defensive players this week, including the left-sided Cameron Pring and centre-back Luke McNally, as well as goalkeeper Max O'Leary.

In their absence, George Tanner, Robert Dickie and Zak Vyner should start in a back three in front of shot-stopper Joe Lumley, flanked by wing-backs Mark Sykes and Elijah Morrison.

Elsewhere, midfielder Joe Williams is sidelined with an ankle injury, and though he is expected back in action within a couple of weeks, Jason Knight and Adam Randell are likely to line up in the centre of the park on Wednesday.

Fulham possible starting lineup:

Lecomte; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Sessegnon; Lukic, Berge; Wilson, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Jimenez

Bristol City possible starting lineup:

Lumley; Tanner, Dickie, Vyner; Sykes, Knight, Randell, Morrison; Twine, Mehmeti; Yeboah

We say: Fulham 2-1 Bristol City
Fulham have won three and drawn one of their last four home matches, and given the league disparity between the sides, anything other than victory for the Cottagers will be seen as a failure.

However, Bristol City have proven their resilience on the road and throughout 2025-26 in general, and they could frustrate their hosts.

Exclusive: Fulham's late three-man signing plan revealed
Fulham are exploring three new signings by the transfer cut-off but face a race against time to get the deals done, sources have told Football Insider.

Following the Cottagers' 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday (24 August), Marco Silva revealed that he needs at least three more additions to his squad this summer.

The eest London side are in the market for a striker, a winger, and a central midfielder to bolster their ranks.

However, sources say that Fulham have their work cut out for them in terms of making the necessary additions to please their Portuguese manager before the transfer deadline.

Fulham have kept hold of star players
It has been an incredibly quiet window for Fulham so far, only making one signing, as Benjamin Lecomte made the move from Montpellier to Craven Cottage.

While they haven't managed to add as many players as they would've liked, Silva's side have at least retained most of their key men.

It hasn't been without challenge though, with Fulham rejecting multiple bids for Rodrigo Muniz from Atalanta, as well as staving off interest from Leeds United.

Earlier this month, Football Insider exclusively revealed that Fulham are now in contract talks with Muniz, as they look to tie the Brazilian down to a new deal.

'Fulham to get Chelsea's help to sign winger
Meanwhile, Chelsea may reportedly be willing to help their rivals Fulham in order to offload Raheem Sterling this summer.

That is the view of football finance expert Dan Plumley, who claims that if the winger wants to remain in London, the Blues may have to take a hit financially to give him what he wants.

Sterling has interest from Fulham, although the Cottagers are in the market for several different options in wide areas.

The Englishman is not in Chelsea's plans this season and was not involved in any of the club's pre-season games, or either of their two opening matches of the 2025/26 season.

Norwich City should plot transfer reunion with Fulham man - He knows Carrow Road very well
Norwich City's 2-1 defeat over the weekend to Middlesbrough perhaps exposed a flaw in their midfield unit that needs addressing - and it could be fixed by a former Canaries player.

New signing Mirko Topic seems to have cemented his place in Liam Manning's side early on this season, and he has been partnered by both Marcelino Nunez and teenager Jacob Wright.

However, Chile international Nunez is now injured and Wright is set to start a three-match ban, showing perhaps his lack of experience with an over-the-ball challenge on Aidan Morris to get himself sent off against Boro.

Having played less than 20 games in the EFL, Wright could be a worry at times for Norwich as the season progresses, and they may need some more experience in midfield, although 33-year-old Kenny McLean is also an option for Manning.

Harrison Reed should be a Norwich City transfer target - he's already had a stint with Canaries
30-year-old midfielder Harrison Reed has been a key part of Fulham's side since his arrival at Craven Cottage in 2019, but with game-time dwindling, he should perhaps pursue a Championship move at this stage of his career.

His wealth of experience from his time spent in the top-flight as well as the Championship has given him the reputation of being a reliable player at the heart of midfield.

Known for his composure on the ball as well as strength in tackles, despite being 5ft 9in, Reed has had a successful career up to this point, having made over 120 appearances in both the Premier League and Championship.

The stability he has provided to Fulham's side over the past six seasons has not gone unnoticed. However, after merely featuring in 12 league games last year for the Cottagers, regular game time for Reed may be looking unlikely this season.

With 1st September soon around the corner marking the closure of the transfer window, Reed's former club, Norwich City, should plot a move for the midfielder as they strive for a return to the top-flight, and having spent a season at Carrow Road in the 2017/18 campaign, Reed is no stranger to life in Norfolk.

The 30-year-old made 39 league appearances for the Canaries that season, where he scored one goal and provided three assists. Including a screamer in a 2-0 win against QPR.

A potential move back to his old club in the form of a loan deal or permanent transfer would be good business for all parties as Reed would receive more game time, and Norwich could benefit from his expertise in the midfield alongside new signing Topic.

Norwich City fans would love a Harrison Reed return
Having already been a part of the fixtures and fittings at the club, Reed would be more than welcomed back to Carrow Road.

His maturity and proven ability to break up the play and get on the front foot could be just what Norwich need to compliment Topic, who is known for his bullish style of play.

Reed has played next to the likes of Joao Palhinha at Fulham, who shares similarities with Topic. Therefore, his tactical discipline to act as the 'box-to-box' midfielder for Manning in a midfield two could prove to be a transfer to propel Norwich's season in the right direction.

His high energy and dynamic nature would make Reed a quality signing for Norwich who can not only benefit from his attributes on the pitch, but his familiarity of the club too would make him a leader in the group.

Sure, when everyone is available there would be strong competition for minutes at Carrow Road between Topic, Wright, Nunez, McLean and Reed, but there's no denying the latter's top flight experience, and how effective he could be if he slotted back into proceedings in Norfolk.

"Two signings in one" – Fulham on verge of completing €10m sale
Andreas Pereira's long flirtation with Palmeiras is finally reaching its conclusion. After weeks of speculation, the Fulham midfielder is now just hours away from being confirmed as the newest reinforcement for manager Abel Ferreira's squad.

According to Globo Esporte, the last issues in negotiations were settled on Monday, and the 29-year-old will soon travel to São Paulo for medicals and to sign his contract.

The agreement is for four years, with Palmeiras paying €10m (£8.4m). That represents a sharp drop from the €20m Fulham rejected back in January, and comes after Pereira lost space in Marco Silva's plans.

He was left out of the squad for Sunday's clash with Manchester United, a clear sign (noted by ESPN Brazil) that the London club are already preparing for his departure.

Palmeiras had been debating the payment structure with Fulham, but this has now been ironed out. Documents are being exchanged and aligned, and only the official announcement is missing.

The club's football department view Pereira as a ready-made reinforcement who can arrive and immediately strengthen Abel Ferreira's team, particularly after the sale of Richard Ríos to Benfica.

Columnist Paulo Vinícius Coelho detailed how the signing is seen internally at Palmeiras. "Palmeiras resolve two signings in one player. Andreas, in the coaching staff's view, can be a number 8 primarily, and he can be a number 10. He is not a 10, but he can play as a 10."

He also underlined the financial aspect, stressing that this time the deal makes far more sense than it did at the start of the year. "So, for half the price of January, Palmeiras sign two players in one. Andreas will be the starter in the number 8 role and can be an option for the number 10 role."

Finally, Coelho made clear that the deal is essentially done. "We know two things: one, Andreas Pereira has agreed to leave Fulham; two, the destination is Palmeiras. The question now is the date. Of course it depends on the signature, but everything indicates that this week Andreas will be announced as a new Palmeiras player."

Argentinian journalist Uriel Iugt also reported that Pereira was preparing to travel to Brazil on Monday night to finalise the move, so things are set to move pretty quickly from now on.

For Palmeiras, it is a long-awaited reinforcement, while for Fulham, it closes a cycle with a player who had become surplus to requirements and now leaves before entering the final year of his contract.

The FFC Rumour Mill: Nelson snapped in Bassey's car and Pereira samba-ing off?
Get the lowdown on the latest rumours swirling around Motspur Park.

At the time of writing, we have one more week until the transfer window shuts with fan discontent over our lack of business continuing to grow. Marco Silva stated prior to our draw with Manchester United that Fulham are "not active at all" in a damning press conference which our very own Jack Kelly covered in detail on Friday. Surely something will happen this week? Surely?

Incomings
The main talking point from an incoming standpoint this week is the winger merry-go-round of rumours. The same names keep cropping up but none of which seem to be progressing any further. The alleged 'crunch talks' with Kevin took place last Monday and has since drawn radio silence regarding that move. Daniele Longo has reported that we have offered a loan with an option that could become an obligation for AC Milan winger Samuel Chukuweze this week, an obligation you imagine would occur if the Nigerian plays a certain number of games.

The other two names that continue to be touted are Reiss Nelson and Raheem Sterling with Sky Sports reporting Fulham still hold an interest in Nelson from Arsenal and The Telegraph claiming that Chelsea are willing to loan Sterling out as part of a clear-out at Walham Green. Nelson looks likely to be finalised soon, with Calvin Bassey circumventing the Motspur Park Snapchat ban and snapping the winger in his car. It is madness that it has come to this...!

Graeme Bailey has reported that Fulham are a number of clubs holding a long-standing interest in Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo with the 20 year old open to a loan move after falling out of favour with Ruben Amorim. The source is dubious on this one but he's exactly the type of player Fulham need and a great way to fill a domestic loan spot. Get it done, Tony.

Other incoming news this week comes firstly from Nizaar Kinsella with Fulham now adding FC Basel winger Philip Otele to a list of options before next week's deadline, an offer of £15m could be enough to purchase the 26 year old. Finally, back in the Premier League, Pablo Oliveira has reported that Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Turkish side Trabzonspor are interested in Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga.

Outgoings
The biggest news of the week is that Rodrigo Muniz looks set to stay at Fulham after a deal was unable to be made with Atalanta. Fabrizio Romano reported on Tuesday that move was off after Fulham rejected the Italian side's €40m proposal. Miguel Delaney has since claimed that Fulham are working on a new deal for the Brazilian with Marco Silva hopeful of getting it done when speaking before Manchester United.

From one Brazilian to another, Andreas Pereira is reportedly interested in a move back to Brazil to sign for Palmeiras. Brazilian reports are claiming that a deal could be made for €12 to €14m, with Pereira not involved in the matchday squad on Sunday. While talks aren't ongoing this is one I could see happening, with the emergence of Josh King. Pereira has previously mentioned his desire to return to Brazil, annoying Silva, and this constant uncertainty is something he won't want around the squad.

Final piece of news from this week is that Sky Sports have reported that Fulham are considering a bid from Coventry City for winger Martial Godo. I think this is one dependent on if we get players in on time; I don't think Godo is good enough for Fulham, but Silva won't leave us short given our lack of activity so far this summer.

Well that's all, folks. Fulham once again annoying Silva, Fulham once again interested in loan deals, Fulham once again doing...nothing! The Rodrigo Muniz news is a huge positive for the club and hopefully a deal can be arranged soon but deary me - the lack of incomings is getting tiresome. Just one week to go...

Fulham still pushing to sign winger – Selling club face dilemma, training session key
Last week, Calciomercato reported Fulham had made an offer for AC Milan's Samuel Chukwueze.

They claimed the London club are serious about signing the Nigerian and want to get him on an initial loan deal with the option to buy him permanently.

Today's Corriere dello Sport has an update on Fulham's intentions.

The newspaper reports AC Milan now need sales to sign more players this summer. Alex Jimenez is being eyed by Como but when it comes to Chukwueze, the Rossoneri have a dilemma on their hands.

This is because key player Rafael Leao is out injured and they are temporarily short of attacking options. Ideally, they would sell the 26-year-old Chukwueze to Fulham but they are now undecided.

Leao will have a training session today which could determine whether he can play in the upcoming game against Lecce or not.

If the Portuguese attacker is fit, Chukwueze's exit can gain traction and this will be a big positive for Fulham, who are said to be pushing for his signing.

The Craven Cottage side had tried to sign the Nigeria international in January but the move fell through at the end due a lack of time left in the window.

Pereira set for Palmeiras medical
Andreas Pereira has been given the green light to fly to Brazil and undergo his Palmeiras medical ahead of a proposed £8.6m move from Fulham.

The Brazilian international has agreed a four-year contract with Verdão, according to reports from Sao Paulo, and the two clubs have finally reached agreement on both the fee and the structure of the payments. The 29 year-old, who was left out of Marco Silva's squad for Sunday's 1-1 draw with his old club Manchester United at Craven Cottage, is keen to retain his place in Carlo Ancelotti's national team squad for the 2026 World Cup and will move for regular first-team football.

Tony Gale names Fulham player West Ham may need to sign, 'the power he's got'
For Tony Gale, West Ham United's collapse at home to Chelsea was made even worse when watching Fulham fight back to claim a draw against Manchester United just two days later.

While one London outfit fell to pieces – Chelsea scored five goals in just 43 minutes at the London Stadium as Mads Hermansen's nightmare start continued and Aaron Wan-Bissaka let those old mistakes creep back in – Fulham displayed all the intensity, the desire and the so-called 'bouncebackability' missing from Graham Potter's charges.

Unsurprisingly, Tony Gale is not the first West Ham United legend to demand a host of new arrivals between now and deadline day.

After Tony Cottee urged West Ham to upgrade James Ward-Prowse, Guido Rodriguez and Tomas Soucek in the centre of the park, Gale agrees that a bit of energy is a must in midfield.

But Gale could not help but look at Fulham's potential game-changers on the substitute's bench and wish another of his old employers had such options, Adama Traore epitomising the difference between Marco Silva's roster and Graham Potter's.

Tony Gale thinks West Ham United need a gamechanger like Fulham's Adama Traore
With Chelsea already 3-1 by half-time, Potter introduced young Freddie Potts for his Premier League debut, while experienced freebies Kyle Walker-Peters and Callum Wilson also entered the fray.

Among the unused subs were Andy Irving, Callum Marshall and spare centre-back Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Fulham, in contrast, had the luxury of leaving the human cannonball Adama Traore twiddling his thumbs while Antonee Robinson, Harry Wilson, Raul Jimenez and Emile Smith Rowe – the man who cancelled out Rodrigo Muniz's own goal – coming on instead.

"After Friday, very worried. I was at West Ham on Friday, I went to Fulham on Sunday, and the difference between the teams at the moment is immeasurable," Gale tells talkSPORT.

"Just looking at it and the way that they just crumbled. They just crumbled in the end.

"You had a look [at Fulham's squad] and there were options. Players that didn't come on like Traore, who could turn the game around for Fulham and someone like West Ham could do with someone like that, with the pace and the power that he's got."

Gale concerned by West Ham's Chelsea collapse as he demands new signings
Gale does feel that the return of Crysencio Summerville should give Potter the sort of speed and unpredictability he is crying out for, at least. Summerville is close to making his West Ham comeback after seven months out with a hamstring injury.

The £30 million signing from Leeds United was spotted at Rush Green ahead of Tuesday's Carabao Cup clash against Wolves.

But Summerville alone will not fix West Ham's damaging tendency to implode at the first sign of pressure. Before conceding five goals in 43 minutes against Chelsea, they conceded three in 31 against Sunderland.

"You thought, 'well, where's this come from'? Because it was such a great start," sighs Gale, he and everyone else at the London Stadium feeling that Lucas Paqueta's seventh minute opener may have been a lift-off moment.

"What I couldn't understand is when you start like that, you've nicked possession of the opposition, you've scored a goal, then they just retreated back into a shape where it allowed their centre-backs just to to walk the ball to the halfway line.

"And I thought, 'I know what's coming'.

"Probably only one who's injured at the moment is Summerville, which would probably make a difference. A little bit of pace. And I think, in the coming days, five or six days before the deadline, they've got to make three signings.

"They've got to get some legs in that midfield, get a bit of pace and energy. And basically, they have got to man up. Everybody is having a go at Graham Potter, but the centre-backs, the three centre-backs, conceding goals at corners, headers at Sunderland, it's too easy.

"Too easy."

Announcement imminent as Fulham agree sale – Transfer fee payable over three years
Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira is finally set to become a Palmeiras player, with only the final paperwork standing in the way of the transfer being confirmed.

According to Globo Esporte, the São Paulo club have agreed a €10m (£8.4m) deal with Fulham, payable in installments over three years.

The 29-year-old has also accepted a long-term contract, and although reports have varied on the length – journalist Danilo Lavieri says three and a half years until December 2028, while Globo Esporte report four years – the agreement is in place and now down to contract clauses.

Palmeiras, who are celebrating their 111th anniversary this Tuesday, are hopeful of announcing Andreas as a "birthday present" for their supporters.

Globo Esporte added that a digital signature could even take place the same day, before the player travels to Brazil later this week for medicals and an official presentation.

After Sunday's 3-0 win over Sport, coach Abel Ferreira avoided direct comment on the negotiations, but optimism within the club is high. Sources in Brazil say the deal is already "practically done", with timing rather than substance now the only question.

The Brazilian transfer window remains open until 2 September, giving Palmeiras margin to complete the formalities, but with all parties aligned, Andreas Pereira's return from Fulham to Brazil now appears imminent.

Silva: 'The target is the final'
Marco Silva has insisted that Fulham will take the League Cup very serious when they entertain Championship club Bristol City at Craven Cottage as their participation in the competition gets underway tomorrow night.

Silva was disappointed that his second string side exited at the third round stage after a record-breaking penalty shoot-out at Preston North End last season having been beaten by Liverpool in the semi-finals the previous year. The Portuguese head coach told his pre-match press conference that he wants to take the Cottagers to Wembley:

"The competition is very important, we look at it seriously. Some players need game-time, we have to be very careful in terms of rotation because we are short in some positions. We achieved the semi-finals two years ago, the next step is the final. With a full squad, it's not an easy thing to do (cup runs) – if you want to arrive in the latter stages of both cups, then we need the depth.

The Fulham boss reiterated that the club's recruitment team need to strengthen his first-team squad in the closing days of the transfer window.

"We have to. When you leave things to the final stages, it's not in your control anymore. With time, you can take better decisions and not [make] mistakes. [We need] numbers – we have no choice but to add players. I'm involved in the decisions, [about] who comes in."

Silva did scotch suggestions that Fulham have to sell players before they buy, saying that 'had never been the case'.

Pre-Bristol City Press Conference
Marco Silva's attitude towards cup competitions has not changed this season.

Under Silva, Fulham have reached a first ever Carabao Cup Semi-Final, as well as two FA Cup Quarter-Finals – feats that he is motivated to improve upon.

"This one for us is very important," he said in his pre-Bristol City press conference. "The last three seasons, we didn't hide ourselves, saying it's just another competition. It's very important, like the FA Cup is too, and we look really seriously for it.

"We are serious about it. I think we have been showing you – we have been knocking on the door to arrival in the final stages of both competitions. We already achieved the Semi-Finals once in the last three seasons, for the first time ever at this football club.

"And when you already achieved the Semis, the next step for us is try to go to the Final. But we have to go step by step, to share the ambition with our players and with our fans as well.

"Let's do the job that we have to do, game by game, and tomorrow is going to be a tough one.

"We have to take the responsibility of the game, take it very serious. One of the things that pleased me more in last few seasons in these competitions, is how we have been able to be serious always with our approach in these type of games.

"It doesn't matter if you repeat the same XI from the last game, or if you change players, doesn't matter the number that you are going to rotate or not, but the way we have been approaching these competitions is really serious."

City will present a good test at the Cottage on Wednesday night, having not lost any of their four fixtures in all competitions.

"Difficult one," Silva admitted. "Championship sides are always very difficult to play against in this type of competition.

"They come, play against a Premier League side, they want to make some type of story in these type of competitions.

"They know if they beat a Premier League side, they are always going to be in the spotlight. I think it's a normal ambition for any club when you are in lower divisions than the Premier League.

"We want to perform well. We want to win the game. But the most important thing for us is to be in the next round.

"We want to do our maximum. Massive respect, of course, for Bristol, they started well the season. They have quality, we are aware of their quality, the way they play, everything that they can put on the pitch, and the problems they can create for us."

Marco Silva reiterates need for more Fulham signings with deadline approaching
Fulham boss Marco Silva has again called for the club to bolster his squad before the transfer deadline.

The transfer window shuts on September 1 and Fulham have only made one permanent signing as of yet – goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte.

Silva has been vocal about his disappointment in the lack of signings and reiterated his desire for new faces before next week's deadline.

Speaking about the situation, the Portuguese boss said: "I don't want to go into why it's been difficult. We have to (make signings). When you leave things to the final stages, it's not in your control anymore.

"With time, you can take better decisions and not mistakes."

Fulham owner Shahid Khan discussed the club's summer, writing in the match programme for the game against Manchester United: "It was a summertime priority to protect the nucleus of the squad that set a Fulham record last year for most Premier League points, and we did by extending the stays of Kenny Tete and our long time captain, Tom Cairney.

"We will continue – as we always do at this time of the year – to explore all options to strengthen our squad."

There are only six days left before the window shuts, and Fulham are searching for attacking reinforcements after the departures of Willian and Carlos Vinicius.

'We have to sign players': Marco Silva issues Fulham transfer plea before deadline day
Fulham boss has been left frustrated with a lack of transfer activity this summer

Marco Silva says talk around his future is a distraction as he admits Fulham have no choice but to sign players before the end of the window.

Silva, who has been left frustrated by Fulham's transfer business this summer, has less than a year remaining on his contract.

However, the Fulham boss, who reiterated that Andreas Pereira was a Fulham player despite being left out of the matchday squad against Manchester United, says his future or that of his players won't be a distraction as the club focus on building on bringing players in before the transfer deadline.

"I think my situation and my future, and the future of the players can never be something that can be a distraction at all. Fulham is the main thing for all of us," Silva said, speaking ahead of Fulham's Carabao Cup clash at home to Bristol City.

"When you are at this level, you have to think first of all about the club, and that is the main thing for us. It's never going to be a distraction for anything that we have to do."

Fulham are looking to wrap up a number of deals before next Monday's deadline, and Silva admitted the club have to act decisively, having only brought in one new signing, backup goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte, so far this summer.

"We have to (sign players). This is the situation. I'm answering this way to you, and it's not to put any more type of pressure at all. It's because we don't have other solutions," he continued.

Silva went on to say that whilst he's been involved in the club's transfer decisions, he couldn't be sure that any players who did come in before the deadline were part of the plan he and the club had formulated.

"If it's going to be what we did plan or not is another thing. When you leave everything for the final stages. Some things are not under your control no more. Some targets are not there no more.

"I think I'm the type of person that if you prepare the things and if you go in a certain direction, I believe that with time you can take better decisions and probably don't do certain type of mistakes too. Right now, I'm not in charge of negotiations. It's not for me. It's not my job."

When you leave everything for the final stages. Some things are not under your control no more. Some targets are not there no more

Marco Silva

Fulham are in the market for a winger and have been weighing up a second bid for Shakhtar Donetsk forward Kevin. They also hold a long-term interest in Reiss Nelson, who spent last season on loan at the club. However, neither deal is close to completion with less than a week left of the window.

Silva called for the club to back him at the end of last season after guiding them to a record Premier League points tally and an 11th place finish.

But a frustrating summer has left Silva short of options and with his contract expiring in June 2026, doubts have emerged about his long-term future at the club.

Silva targeting 'next step' for Fulham in cup
Marco Silva has stressed the importance of the cup competitions ahead of Fulham's Carabao Cup clash with Championship side Bristol City.

In the past three seasons, Fulham have been one game away from Wembley in both the Carabao and FA Cup.

Two seasons ago, they were beaten by Liverpool over two legs in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

And Whites boss Silva has maintained his desire to take the cups seriously.

"The competition is very important. We look at it seriously," he said.

"Some players need game time, but we have to be very careful in terms of rotation because we are short in some positions.

"We achieved the semi-finals two years ago. The next step is the final.

"With a full squad, cup runs are not an easy thing to do – if you want to arrive in the latter stages of both cups, then we need the depth."

Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday, Silva was again asked about Fulham's lack of transfer activity.

He has made it clear he wants at least three new faces added to the squad in the coming days.

"We have to (make signings). When you leave things to the final stages, it's not in your control anymore," he said.

"With time, you can make better decisions and not make mistakes.

"We have no choice but to add players. I'm always involved in the decision of who comes in."

Asked if Fulham need to sell players in order to buy, Silva said: "It is not the case. It's never been like this."

Fulham plotting incredible raid on Man Utd, with Arsenal forward also eyed in three-signing blitz – sources
Fulham are looking to sign THREE players before the transfer window closes, with Manchester United star Kobbie Mainoo and Arsenal ace Reiss Nelson among their leading targets, TEAMtalk understands.

Nelson, 25, is seen as a replacement for Brazilian midfielder Andreas Pereira, who is expected to seal an £18million move to Palmeiras, with talks continuing.

Having failed to feature in his club's opening two Premier League games, Marco Silva will move the South American on, and Nelson is among the potential replacements.

The Arsenal winger spent the first half of last season on loan in west London before injury curtailed his campaign, but a return to Fulham is on the cards.

Silva says he wants three new signings, having only landed back-up keeper Benjamin Lecomte this window, but he could also offload defender Jorge Cuenca as part of his outgoings.

Cuenca arrived at Fulham from Villarreal last summer, but he only made just four league starts last summer and is way down the pecking order.

Full back's Calvin Bassey and Kenny Tete's ability to play central defence means Cuneca could now leave.

Fulham in the mix for Man Utd ace Kobbie Mainoo
Meanwhile, TEAMtalk can reveal that Manchester United midfielder Mainoo is one potential loan arrival for the Cottagers, although there is a big queue should he be given the go ahead to leave.

The 20-year-old is highly rated at Old Trafford but has struggled for consistent playing time under Ruben Amorim. He hasn't played a single minute of Premier League football so far this term.

Fulham are one of several Premier League clubs who are keen on securing Mainoo's services.

Fulham have also been offered Monaco's Soungoutou Magassa, with West Ham also in the running for the France Under-21 international midfielder.

Coventry City's Milan van Ewijk is a long-term target, but Fulham are reluctant to meet the Championship club's bumper valuation for the right-back.

A new frontman is required too, with PSV's Ricardo Pepi fancied, although there are doubts over his fitness having just returned from a serious knee injury.

Silva wants a new attacker to hit the ground running, and the United States international's fitness issues could hinder their pursuit.

Fulham Star Told to Leave the Club This Summer
Pereira Set for Fulham Exit as Palmeiras Circle

Fulham's midfield could be on the verge of a shake-up, with Andreas Pereira now expected to leave Craven Cottage. According to TEAMtalk, "Silva's relationship with the midfielder has become strained this year, and he has told club officials he will not block an exit."

The 29-year-old has been a vital figure since joining Fulham in 2022, but his omission from the squad for the first two Premier League matches speaks volumes. Pereira was an unused substitute against Brighton and then completely left out against Manchester United, a club where he spent several years before moving to London.

This situation marks a clear change in Fulham's stance on the Brazilian, who was previously considered untouchable when Palmeiras came knocking last season.

Palmeiras Lead Race as Talks Accelerate
Pereira's future now seems likely to be away from England. TEAMtalk reported, "Silva has been made aware of interest from three Brazilian sides, as well as some interest in Europe, but Palmeiras are leading the race and are expected to table a formal offer imminently."

The midfielder is keen on returning to Brazil, where he previously thrived with Flamengo. With less than 12 months remaining on his Fulham contract, the club is eager to avoid losing him for nothing. TEAMtalk added that Fulham's hierarchy are "growing increasingly frustrated by Pereira's situation and want to find a solution, soon."

Contract Dynamics and United's Stake
Fulham's motivation to sell is clear. Pereira's contract situation and his reduced role under Marco Silva have opened the door for negotiations. Manchester United, who sold him for a fee worth up to £10m, inserted a 20 percent sell-on clause. Any profit Fulham make will see United benefit financially from the deal.

Since joining Fulham, Pereira has registered 10 goals and 22 assists in 119 appearances, making him a significant contributor over the past three years. However, the emergence of Josh King, who has stepped into a starting role, suggests Silva is already preparing for life without the Brazilian playmaker.

Implications for Fulham's Midfield
Losing Pereira mid-season could alter the balance in Fulham's midfield. Silva has placed emphasis on dynamism and versatility, and with key fixtures approaching, replacing Pereira's creativity will be crucial. The club's willingness to sanction his departure now hints at confidence in current squad depth or plans for reinforcements before the window shuts.

As TEAMtalk outlined, "Concrete developments are expected very soon," meaning Fulham fans might not have to wait long to learn if Pereira's Craven Cottage chapter is coming to an end.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis
This feels like the end of an era for Pereira. He has been a central figure in Fulham's rise since 2022, and many supporters will remember his energy and creativity fondly. However, his absence in the opening fixtures spoke volumes, and it now appears inevitable that he will leave.

Palmeiras is an appealing destination for Pereira, and few can begrudge him a return to Brazil at this stage of his career. For Fulham, the priority must be reinvesting any transfer income wisely. With less than a year left on his contract, cashing in now makes sense, particularly with United set to receive a share of the profit.

The worry for fans is whether the club can replace his creativity quickly. Josh King looks promising, but Pereira's experience and vision will be difficult to replicate. Many will hope Silva has reinforcements lined up because losing Pereira without a suitable replacement could weaken the team during a crucial stretch of the season.

Fulham authorise player to travel – Medical and formalities to leave the club
Andreas Pereira's move from Fulham to Palmeiras is now complete, with ESPN Brazil reporting that all details were finalised on Tuesday afternoon.

The 29-year-old midfielder is set to sign his contract electronically today and has already been authorised by Fulham to travel to Brazil, where he will undergo medicals and complete the final steps before being officially unveiled.

Palmeiras, as a policy, are not confirming anything until the signature is processed, but sources insist the agreement is closed.

The deal is worth €10m (£8.4m), the same figure reported in recent days, and marks the end of a long chase by the São Paulo side.

Palmeiras first tried to sign Andreas back in January, when negotiations fell through at the final stage. This time, the player reached a verbal agreement days ago and will sign a four-year contract.

Andreas is now expected to arrive in Brazil on Thursday to be presented as Palmeiras' newest reinforcement. For the club, it is a long-awaited signing to replace Richard Ríos and strengthen Abel Ferreira's squad for the remainder of the season.

Andreas Pereira Departs: Evaluating Pereira's Polarising Fulham Spell
Andreas Pereira walks into Heathrow departures, São Paulo his destination. A return to Brazil beckons. After a polarising Fulham spell, should Fulham fans be gutted, or jubilant at the news of his departure? I'll evaluate Andreas' Fulham spell, and let you know. Give me a few minutes of your time.

Andreas: A Once Instrumental Foundational Player
I've been very critical of Pereira during his time by the river. However, we shouldn't forget the role Andreas played in laying the foundations for Fulham's Premier League success.

In his first six months at the Cottage, 'AP' was legitimately one of the best No.10's in the top flight. Creatively potent on the ball, an hardworking attacking midfield anomaly off it. Pereira's Fulham spell will no doubt be remembered with an element of fondness, despite his misgivings. A shrewd bit of business for just £10M.

Without him, the void left by Fabio Carvalho would have been much more pronounced, and the re-arrival of the man we now dub 'Judas' could have well been on the cards. Safe to say we got out of jail with that one...

Without Andreas would Carlos Vinicius scored that famous Chelsea winner? No chnace, without that peach of a cross, that Thursday night would never of happened. For that, Andy, I thank you.

Where It Went Wrong...
After a terrific first few months, Pereira's preformances certainly dropped off. That honeymoon phase of FFC displays brought AP too much time as a starting certainty.

Combine sliding levels of performance, allegations of managerial favouritism, and. the unglamorous manner of Andreas' game, and it's easy to see why the exit of our Brazilian number 18 has been met with some level of jubilation .

It would be remiss of me not to mention the. Belgian born Brazilian's off the pitch antics as an answer as to why Fulham fans have grown in distaste towards Pereira, including myself.

In all honesty, I think, AP's half season of success got to his head. Once he preformed well at a Premier League level, Pereira wanted out of SW6. Andreas clearly viewed the Cottage as nothing but a platform to put himself in the shop window. The constant likely agent led transfer speculation, and social media flaunting of mediocre performances, regardless of result, is the proof in the pudding that Fulham Football Club was secondary in the mind of Andreas Pereira.

The 'for the badge', constant running and commitment to the cause? All for Andreas. Weather it be Timothy Castagne playing through injury last season, or the unquestionable love for Fulham Tom Cairney, and Ryan Sessegnon show both sides of the white lines, In a team with a number of players that do truly play for the badge, it was easy for the Fulham faithful to see past Pereira's facade.

Pereira's Departure: Best For Both Parties?
It's the time to part ways for Andreas and Fulham. Things became sour, and in the end, Fulham have moved on. Pereira has aged, now 29, it's London's Original's last chance to sell. Andreas been replaced by the Josh King, with even Emile Smith, Harry Wilson, and Alex Iwobi all above Pereira now in the pecking order for Silva's number ten starting birth. Above all though, Andreas' exit just further clears the path for Josh King's development. That's Fulham's priority.

In truth, Silva, Khan and co should have sold a window or two earlier. Fees above between £20–30M were once touted for the ex United prodigy, but Silva's reliance on Pereira forced Fulham's hand. Silva wouldn't relinquish Andy from the starting XI, never mind the club as a whole!

All in all, three years of service, and then nearly recouping all of the £10M we paid for Pereira's services, is that good business? Most definitely, but it comes with a caveat...

What does Andreas' Exit Mean For Fulham?
Without Andreas, Fulham's only natural backup number eight or ten, is Tom Cairney. We all love Tom, I have no doubt he has more to give at the top level. But at 34, is TC somebody you want likely playing an integral role in an upwardly mobile Premier League side? No. Andreas departure should only happen under one condition. He's replaced, sharpish.

See you, Andreas!
See you, Andy! Nobody will quite hit the first man like you, mate! But nobody will swing a ball into Carlos Vinicius like that, against the filth, ever again. Fulham lose a once crucial member of the Marco Silva's Fulham tenure, but the time is right for both parties to go their separate ways. You go with my best wishes, Enjoy Brazil!

Fulham vs Bristol City: Preview and Prediction
Marco Silva will hope to have a positive start to Fulham's EFL Cup run as they host Championship side Bristol City at Craven Cottage.

Premier League teams playing in Europe are not used to seeing their sides playing in the second round of the EFL Cup. The Fulham fanbase might have hoped that was the case this season, but their team failed to qualify for a European competition last season, and here they are, ready to take on Bristol City in the EFL Cup second round.

Marco Silva will hope to kickstart the season with a win, and this clash might be the answer to that. Having opened their Premier League campaign with two eventful draws against Brighton and Manchester United, the Portuguese boss will be desperate for a galvanising win in midweek and at the weekend before the international break.

Meanwhile, a lack of transfer activity at the London outfit has once again cast doubts on whether they are capable of making it into a European competition; the EFL Cup might be a viable route. Silva will aim to have a deep run in this competition and possibly even win this, as they first have to get past Championship outfit Bristol City.

Meanwhile, Bristol City are in a decent vein of form since the start of the new season, with manager Gerhard Struber eyeing a monumental result against a top-flight opposition. Having opened their campaign in the Championship without a defeat in the three games, albeit gaining only one win in those clashes, there's some level of optimism at the club.

Bristol City are aiming to get at least a playoff spot at the end of the season and also have a deep run in cup competitions. In the first round tie of this EFL Cup, they dispatched League Two side MK Dons with a 2-0 scoreline, and will aim to get past Fulham similarly in what could be a big statement of intent.

Team News & Tactics
Fulham
Marco Silva does not have many options to rotate his squad for the cup games as things stand, meaning he will possibly only make a few tweaks. The most obvious change might be that of Emile Smith Rowe, fresh from his equaliser against Manchester United, and he will replace teenager Joshua King in the attacking midfield role.

Timothy Castagne might also move back to the bench as Silva could favour Kenny Tete and Ryan Sessegnon as his full-back pairing for this clash. Without many options, he could hand Joachim Andersen and Calvin Bassey the central defensive slots, although there could be a change between the sticks.

Silva could hand their only summer recruit so far in Benjamin Lecomte a debut in place of Bernd Leno. There could be a few more tweaks on the frontline, as the manager might look to rest Alex Iwobi and bring in Adama Traore in his place, while Harry Wilson could get a run out.

Alternatively, he could keep Iwobi on the left and introduce Wilson from the start on the right wing. Mexican forward Raul Jimenez is pencilled in for a starting role in place of Rodrigo Muniz up front.

Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Lecomte; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Sessegnon; Lukic, Berge; Wilson, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Jimenez

Bristol City
Gerhard Struber will have to make this trip to Craven Cottage without several of his defensive stars. Those include Cameron Pring, Luke McNally and goalkeeper Max O'Leary.

The Bristol City boss is expected to go ahead with a back-three consisting of George Tanner, Robert Dickie, and Zak Vyner, while Joe Lumley will be expected to start between the sticks at Craven Cottage.

There are further injury issues with midfielder Joe Williams, sidelined with an ankle problem and will stay out for at least another two weeks. Struber could prefer a midfield partnership of Jason Knight and Adam Randell.

Mark Sykes is expected to start the game in the right wing-back slot, with Elijah Morrison on the left wing-back. Scott Twine and Anis Mehmeti will feature as the two No.10s behind striker Ephraim Yeboah as they will hope to get the best of the Fulham defence.

Probable Lineup (3-4-2-1): Lumley; Tanner, Dickie, Vyner; Sykes, Knight, Randell, Morrison; Twine, Mehmeti; Yeboah

Key Stats

Bristol City are unbeaten in their last four away games.
Bristol City are unbeaten this season across all competitions.
Fulham are yet to win a game this season after managing two draws in as many opening Premier League games.
Fulham are unbeaten in their last four home games across all competitions, with three wins and a draw.

Player to Watch
Emile Smith Rowe
After a slow start to the campaign owing to a late entry into Fulham's pre-season plans, owing to an injury issue, Smith Rowe burst onto the scene with a stellar equaliser against Manchester United. Marco Silva has opted to start teenager Joshua King in the attacking midfield slot in the two games so far, and the Frenchman wants a change in that direction.

Smith Rowe could convince the manager of a starting place at the weekend against Chelsea with a solid performance in midweek. Scoring regularly has been the hallmark of the former Arsenal star, and once again, he could make his presence felt by putting the ball past the Bristol City goalkeeper on Wednesday.

Prediction
Fulham 3-0 Bristol City
Bristol City might have ambitions to go deep into this cup competition, but the prospect of them beating the likes of Fulham seems a bit unrealistic. Despite their positive form in the Championship, they are facing a side who are eager to get their first win of the campaign.

Marco Silva will certainly demand a big win on home turf to get their season up and running. The team have shown positive signs in the two draws so far in the Premier League, as the manager will expect a win to build momentum ahead of the weekend's clash against Chelsea. Fulham are widely expected to sweep past Bristol City and move into the third round of the EFL Cup.
