Yeh after a few years struggling to stay up theyre getting much more competitive again.

Still, would take our wing line up over many in the prem currently

We don't need a midfielder, we just brought one in. Man City listed Bobb in the midfield , Pep saw him as an attacking midfield who could play 5 positions and was still developing. We brought him in as a midfield player and Silva will see him the same way Pep did . So for now we have Cairney, ESR, King and Bobb and our Captain have one more year on his contract
If it wasn't for the medication I,d be chewing on your skin

Marco literally said Bobb was a replacement for Adama who played almost exclusively on the wings for us

There is no record of Man City or Pep referring to Bobb as a winger . It completely pointless to focus on Bobb as winger when he's a midfielder who can play wide when needed, or more advanced when needed . Yes, he was brought in after Adama but not to replace him

Hate to tell ya but silva said it explicitly in the press conference yesterday that he's a winger who can also play behind the striker. He also has played way more games for man city as a winger than anywhere else 84 wide to 31 at CAM

Marco also said Iwobi would never play in the midfield when literally a week later that's where he started. I could see him trying to make it confusing for other teams.

I think he as plenty technical attributes that could make him decent there. For now it does seem most likely Marco sees him as a wide player predominantly and at a push CAM /SS though.

There's ample record of Man City/Pep playing him as a winger. In fact, he played almost exclusively as a winger for City over the past few seasons.

Well, he's confusing the hell out of us so you could be onto something there 😉

Following the departure of Adama Traoré earlier in the week, the 22-year-old arrived from Manchester City to add a fantastic option on the right wing.

"I'm very pleased, definitely very pleased, because I think it's a very, very good move from ourselves," Silva said in his pre-Manchester United press conference.

We, as a football club, since Adama left the Club, or was coming close to leaving the Club, I had some players in my mind, and we as a Club had some players as targets.

"Oscar was one of them, for sure he is a clear replacement for the player that left the football club, that was Adama. We signed Oscar, and it's a great move from us.

SerbianLad

I don't even know why people are debating this. Marco literally said that he can play as a winger or behind the striker. He also said that he's an Adama replacement. He's not signed for us to play in the middle, simple as that.

Dude, him saying he likes to play a bit wide in the pockets and attack from an angle isn't really saying hes a "midfielder" as such. He even says he finds it a bit congested in the centre there.

And even if he did love playing MF, his favourite place to play isnt so relevant to what Marcos signed him for

https://x.com/i/status/2017727091069055072
If he's not replacing Adama someone should probably tell Marco 😬

whilst it's true he can play inside behind the striker also , as Marco has also stated. Marco hasn't said anything about signing him for the midfield and spoken explicitly on him being a wide player (Even if I think he has skills that would mean he could be decent there too)

Angus haven't you learned your lesson by now - that would truly be a triumph of hope over experience .

On the different subject of a replacement  for Cairney  - Hackney would definitely be a very welcome addition .

I didn't bring up the disagreement again, nor namecheck anyone to instigate. But hey, keep on dragging it out then being snide when people respond.
TC already signed a renewal

Quote from: C Block on December 11, 2025, 01:05:39 PMI can see us going back in for Joe Willock at Newcastle, he's making the match day squad but not getting any minutes, we've been linked with him before and he's at the right age to be moved on,
A former Arsenal player so probably knows some of our players,
A ball carrying midfield player that is Premier League ready ,watch this space.

I called this in December, don't be surprised if it still happens 👍🏻
Where would he play.?

Deuce

I dint know why we need to pinpoint someone as a MIDFIELDER or A WINGER and hence HE SHALT NEVER PLAY IN ANY OTHER STEAD"

(Or we could just view Bobb as a player in our squad that is capable of playing in multiple positions.)

Moussa Dembele the 3rd

Bobb obviously does not play in a midfield 2 to anyone who has ever watched him play. Even for Norway which plays a 433 he plays on the right of the front 3. This discussion is nonsense.

He can indeed play multiple positions, just pointing out Silvas own words on this, in response to the rigid assertion he has been brought in to be a midfielder. Silva clearly is saying where he currently sees him.

I think it's perfectly plausible he can play other positions, but doesn't appear to be the plan for him to play midfield from Silvas comments, which is what was being stated.
