Apparently he suffers from something called intramuscular edema which makes him prone to set backs

See what forest fans were saying a month back here

https://www.reddit.com/r/nffc/s/QfDcfhC3e2

That injury issue being the case, probably best avoided. A shame as a good player

Very mixed reading which includes 'The real blessing from his injury woes is the emergence of Sangare.' Some comments saying he's a downgrade on Danilo. I've a few Forest pals who basically echo some of the more pessimistic comments, although ultimately, even the positive ones tend to add the caveat that he doesn't play enough to get back to those top levels.

Quote from: NewYorkYank on January 11, 2026, 05:16:55 PMAs an American, I should be thrilled to have another US player at Fulham.  I became a Fulham fan because of Brian McBride.  However, Pepi has had years to make himself the US No. 9, and he has failed to do so, even being left off the 2022 WC roster entirely.  There is no shame in being No.2 to Folarin Balogun, but he cannot separate himself from Josh Sargent or Haji Wright, two Championship strikers.  He has his plusses, but the numbers PSV is purportedly throwing around are insane.

But is part of this not injuries? He's still only 22 and presumably if he signed to a top league and managed consistant goals he'd soon step into that next level of consideration.
Quote from: demeant0r on January 11, 2026, 09:55:52 PMJosh Sargent put in a transfer request and apparently there's an offer from a Canadian team for about $18m. Surely we could make a bid?

Decent championship striker tho in bad form apparently this year. Weird move for him that. Likely wants regular playing time in the window to be considered for the USA team for the world cup.

Not sure he's the requisite level for someone wanting to push for Europe. Seems more one of those you take a punt on as a newly promoted team, where if ya go down, worst case you have a champ ready striker.

It's definitely about game time. There's a young striker in Norwich who's in red, hot form in the last 1-2 months and they only play with one striker so Josh has had limited game time since then.
Incorrect. Sargent has started 23 of 26 Championship matches this season. The 3 he didn't he was out of the squad because of a concussion.

Brilliant player for Villa,

Ok at Juve, not had a good run of it in a poor struggling forest team that should never have sacked its manager. Linked to us before.

Sort of player who if he could shake the injuries would have been a good fit for us, + id put money on Silva getting more from him than forest have.

But, has been unlucky with a seemingly persistent thigh injury of late although back fit I think now.

If you could pick him up for a loan with option there's worse scenarios out there. If he did well could allow us to part ways with Reed in the summer and leave room for Ridgeon to come through

Has missed 32 games in last two seasons. Shades of Reiss Nelson?

I appreciate he's coming back from different injuries....but I've not seen him play a good game this season for them.....

Haven't seen many of their players have a good game for them this season though. Even last year's formidable defence has crumbled this year

signed for them under nuno, 3 weeks later hes fired. It's been a whole mess there & Silva is much more Emery than Dyche.

There's definitely a player there, wether he can refind that who knows

I think his levels have dropped so much and consistently so, that I'd avoid like the plague, especially at the wages he's demanding. I've seen Forest players stand out despite some collectively bad performances to be honest. Gibbs White as a clear example. He doesn't look match fit to me still. One I could of been excited about had I not seen him for Forest this season but not sure I'd afford the form excuses at two different clubs.

Fair enough as I say talking to a forest fan and looking at their boards they all seem to think he's still a very good player, the issue has been staying fit not the level he's playing at according to them.

As for above and being not as good as danilo isn't exactly a diss, they just effing LOVE Danilo 😅 and sangare has been very good for them. Much like one could say, one good thing about ESR starting how he did, and having some injuries last year was the emergence of King. Doesn't mean ESR isn't able to show how good he is as he still has that quality.

He has a clause where if he plays x amount of games it turns to an obligation, which given his injury issues it seems they probably don't want to to trigger, so I can see him getting recalled or he won't play as much.

I could see it not being worth the expenditure in that case. Although a 6 month loan, considering we have Iwobi/Lukic/Berge/TC/Reed etc would be good with me, but seems juventus are hoping someone makes a permanent move.

The most upvoted comments in the Reddit thread (outside the injury info) are very much the ones more positive about his quality, fwiw.

Bendas back.

Wonder if we'll be able to find a club to move him on to before end of Jan.

With Millwall fans rejoicing, he might well have to look below the champ. With Lacomte here he's not gonna see the bench in reality so time to let him see out his contract at a lower league side I'd think before moving on for a free.

FFC1987

I think a large point really is, the expectations on his move was to elevate that club, especially considering the investment of his wages (not sure if they're paying all of them or what, but its the perception of it) and between not getting match fit, and injured, it doesn't feel like he's anywhere near the Villa levels and having watched him quite a few times as well (kept an interest due to our links previously), I'd have to agree. I appreciate the sentiment of structuring a short term deal which I'd obviously be in favour of, isn't something likely to be embedded in reality which you allude to as well.

As for Reddit, I don't really trust Reddit for its comments or its upvotes, much like X etc  :slap: but even from the comments, you can see its a varied discussion.

As someone who watches every Norwich City match, I'd really like Sargent to come to Fulham. I think it's the perfect time as he's been carrying them for the last couple of seasons in the championship. Mahovo, the converted striker from winger, is looking to take over. Clement, the Norwich manager, even tried to play them both in a 4-4-2 a couple matches ago and it just did not work at all unfortunately.

Sargent would be a great compliment to Raul, who could show him some things. He's got the work rate that we want from the striker position, and can find the back of the net. He's got something to push towards for the USMNT look as he's on the outside looking in at the moment. Pepi's injury is a big opportunity for Sargent to make up some ground.

The hesitation is his injury history for me. While he's back now, he was out for a couple matches due to concussion, but last year he was out for a good amount of time. However, he was incredible last season despite the long injury and finished with 15 goals with 5 assists.

Then that makes his transfer request all the more weird. He's less likely going to get into the USA squad playing for a Canadian team vs a Championship team.

Talking of Reiss Nelson, I see he has managed 3 games for Brentford all season

Assuming you're also super keen on the Sara then? Suffolk lad but have Norwich supporting friends (more Ipswich though), but they rave about Sargent and absolutely loved Sara. Wonder if that's consistent across the fanbase.

He's not likely to make the squad for the WC but he wouldn't be putting himself in a worse position by leaving the Championship and moving to MLS (and some might argue he'd actually be improving his odds...provided of course that he played well). As an aside, not that I think there's any chance of it happening, but he's not a player we should consider signing. Simply not good enough.

Yeah, I've liked Sara a lot, and that Wagner team with Sainz on the left, Nunez and McLean supporting - such a good team. Goes to show how much has changed there considering it's Schwartau and Jurasek struggling to make a difference. Although I do like Clement so far, I think it's still time for Josh to move on. He would benefit from more creative players like what we have in Kevin-ESR-Wilson, with the strong support of Berge-Lukic.

I can see the move to Toronto FC working out though. Pochettino, the USMNT manager, is not shy of picking from MLS players, and Sargent would be considered a top tier in that league. Still he's got no shot if he doesn't break the scoring drought.

RAY Rock

Is he better than Adam Armstrong I don't think so and Armstrong couldn't get a sniff in the Premier league for Southampton

Karlos

Connor Gallagher reportedly is available for £26m surely we should be all over that

His salary is ridiculous on top of the fee and he wouldn't come to us I doubt. Off to Spurs by the sounds of it. If not Villa.

Somerset Fulham

Its a shame because I think Gallagher would be perfect for us and I suspect that we would actually be ahead of Spurs in the pecking order at the moment.

Villa obviously not though, unfortunately.

Coastwalker

According to Sky Gallagher in talks with Spurs.

Yeh no world in which we'd spend that on him. Gotta be better value out there. And worth villa and spurs on table we probably wouldn't have got a look anyway.

Good box to box player but mad how little 40m can get you these days

ArcticOctopus

I'm worried there's not much better than that out there. Transfer fees are absolutely absurd.

Somerset Fulham

I think you are right, ArcticOctopus. There probably isn't any better out ther but also; it would be a hell of a capture if we were in the race but at that price there is no way that we ever were.

As a footnote - unless Spurs are going big with players that Frank wants (rather than sacking him), its a huge, huge window for them and for him.
