Nwaneri is a top player, but like others have mentioned I don't see where he fits in. We're sorted in the 10, and can't exactly guarantee him minutes anywhere across the front line - so can't see how a loan here would work.

Not heard any stories about Tyrique George but would love to see us go for him.

I wouldn't say we're sorted in the 10. Cairney is much older, we need to start planning for the future. ESR is there, but can also play on the wing, so bringing in Nwaneri is just giving us options as he can play along the attacking line.

It goes with Marco's preference for players who can play multiple positions.

Well we have King and ESR there, and Nwaneri would probably only be available on loan.

If the club could sign him permanently then would be an unbelievable signing, but I just don't see Arsenal sanctioning that.

I just don't see Nwaneri getting any serious minutes now at Arsenal.

If one considers he could play on either wing or as a 10 he is behind:

Madueke
Saka
Havertz
Eze
Trossard
Martinelli
Merino

None of the above are in the twilight of their career so signing him permanently is perhaps not quite as fanciful as might first seem.

Plus, and this has been a thought of mine for sometime now, many on here espouse the sentiment that certain potential signings won't want to join to be 2nd or 3rd choice.

I think that misses the point of the need for rotation.

Marco has been accused, nay guilty, in the past of not rotating enough with many including myself believing this had led to a tail-off in performance levels towards to end of the past 2-3 seasons.

I think we should view signings as coming to compete for a starting place, something Marco has said in the past.

With stronger quality depth we can then hope to rotate more without a decline in performance quality.

So Nwaneri could compete with Harry, for example, as neither would start every game if we reach our stated target of European football.

Saka, for example, started on the bench when Arsenal played Bournemouth away in the Premier League last week. That was rotation, not dropping the player, since Saka started the next league game against Liverpool.

So Nwaneri could replace Harry, for example, if we cannot agree a new contract with the  🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 🧙♂️

If we sign Nwaneri and if it's permanent I'm hoping he chooses England or France and not Nigeria. I can't bear to lose another first-teamer for an entire month in 2027 and 2028.

Isnt afcon moving to summer from next year?

True, but I'd prefer both 🤞🙏

From 2028. The one scheduled for 2027 is still going ahead in the winter.

The 2027 edition will be played in the summer. The big change just announced is that AFCON will shift to a 4 year cycle starting in 2028.

Having already played a ton for England youth set up I suspect he'll back himself to make the senior mens team anyway.

Got a lot of talent but as with ESR there's just a lot of very good players ahead of him with his club in win now mode.

Would be surprised if he was available on a permanent not to see bigger clubs in for him, so almost definately it'll just be a loan. He's another Hale end boy who's at the club he loves. One to revisit maybe in another year if he's still struggling to push into arsenals first team ala ESR and Nelson

I'm so against loans without options. We are not an underground station 😉

They're fine if you need to replace a late injury and you're getting an older player as a temp fix, but definitely agree on no loans without options for young/developing players.

RAY Rock

We are not in for Nwaneri complete made up 🐂💩.

Slightly concerning, even with our form, that Marco has clearly said we need players this Jan and have a light squad and nothing seems to be close half way through the month. Why are the club so inept at doing timely business?

Look, I tend to be on the fence with this stuff. I thought the previous window was poor to ok, others felt good. But Marco isn't without blame here. His situation isn't going to help entice players with him potentially leaving at the end of this season so I don't think Marco can be complaining too much. Also, notoriously a terrible window to shop in unless you're paying in premiums for often 2nd to 3rd choice players as top players not available. I'm not surprised its a slow window and I wouldn't be surprised if we saw very little happen in it.

Too much uncertainty at the club which makes transfers difficult. Silva has got Wilson playing the best football of his life and long may it continue. But if you were Wilson would you sign a new contract without a guarantee that Silva was still there to push him on. Likewise if you were a transfer target would you sign for a manager in January who might not be there at the end of the season.

The ball is firmly in Silva's court and cannot moan about business until he sorts his own out first.

Trusty Steed

I personally think we will end up getting George from Chelsea on deadline day. Potentially (and hopefully) get rid of Traore
