Just back (as someone else used to say) and very unlucky

Very unlucky to lose that

Much the better team in second half but in the end, outsmarted by Palace again

But this season has been, and will be, one of those seasons - just have to finish 17th

Hopefully, with all the money Khan has pumped in, someone can explain to him that relegation would be an unmitigated disaster, so better invest in January where we can

We have invested, but the manager is a stubborn idiot. Refuses to replace a tired/injured striker and takes of the most effective player we had. Madness

From a Palace board:

'I feel for Fulham far better team today.'

Unfortunately, it's goals that decide games.

Andrew

Before I start I want to be clear I think every player in our squad seems to me to be trying their very best. I have no problem with the effort.

However,

I do not think we were unlucky. We lost the game and many others in july

We do not have a proper midfield. True Berge had a good game, for him, today but he is not the required quality. Lukic has been and continues to be poor at this level, he is not preier quality, neither of them are. Lukic must be one of the slowest players in possesion.

Andreson obviously has a neck issue. When in possesion he is totally unable to turn his neck to the right where so often we had players in acres of space, so he launched endless balls diagoonally left. By the laws of average one or two might get through but generally we lose possesion. Passing through the lines is awfu, we need better  than him.

Bassey, a great charcter, but so wasteful and wreckless. Another ref would have seen him bokked or potentially sent off today for some of his unpunished fouls. Another centre back with very limited passing ability.

The two centre backs are way too slow in possesion and ESR and Wilson made so manty runs where the ball simply didn't get played forward at all. They really cost us, we have to get them to play much faster.

kevin? he looked good when he came on against Leeds, otherwise very poor. Even today in the las minute when we needed a bit of quality, or at least a ball into the box he played a fancy dan pass straight into touch wasting our last positional opportunity.

no back up forward, worthy of the name.

Iwobi? how often did he waste possesion today being overcomplicated. The Prem has rumbled him, he wants to run with the ball and if you let him, he will end up stumbling and losing possesion.

But top of the list of nonsense in July was not replacing the midfield with some proper players.

The squad is not up to it and that is the owners fault. We are not in a good place and unless we invest in winter we will genuinely be in deep trouble come the end of the season.

If we had started the season with Iwobi centrally we'd have at least 4 or 5 more points. If we had started Samu sooner, we would probably have an extra win or so. If Iwobi and Bassey hadn't played every minute of every game for both Fulham and Nigeria they would obviously be a lot less knackered. Same for Raul.

We don't have a perfect squad, especially in the midfield. But I strongly disagree that Marco was without options.

ArcticOctopus

At the end of the day, we're 7 losses out of 10. It's not like Marco could have done much worse by trying something different.

Carborundum

In Adam Wharton, Palace had a midfielder so good they were always in the game.  His movement, the balls he played were so much more dynamic than anything we could muster.  With a player like him, we'd be a very good team indeed.

Whitestone

I'm not sure we were unlucky to lose the game but we didn't deserve to lose it IMO. When the score in any game is level late on there is always a chance for the game to swing either way. The second half subs and poor defending at the end caused the loss and for that Silva must take responsibility.

On balance we should of got 4 point's from the last 2 games - but that's football.... I'm still trying to work out why JKA didn't come on for Raul around the 60/70th minute

It does seem that way, Marco made stupid substitutions at stupid times yesterday and it cost plus the game, he needs to sign or go in the next 3 weeks it's that simple, his current stance is affecting the supporters and the players. I went yesterday but will now choose to miss all games that are now covered by SKY/TNT because it is becoming too frustrating to be there😔

I didn't think we were 'unlucky'.  We got beat, by a well coached and disciplined side.  Sadly, that's three losses in a row v Palace - on our Home Ground! Ouch!

We may have been the better side during second half, but, as we've seen in past games, loads of possession but very few really good scoring chances created.  And this is my pet peeve - yet another goal conceded off a corner!!!!!  I have been on about our poor corner defense since the first couple of games this season, and it's costing us table points and position.
When will that get corrected ??!!???

Also, why take off ESR and Chukwueze for subs, they were our biggest threat the entire game, surely they can play a full 90?
