Apologies I missed that. Worthy of its own thread or shall I delete it?

I listened to the American podcast today hosted by Tim Howard and Landon Dovan.  Their guest was the American equivalent of Fabrizio Ramano for all things involving American players.  One of the things they talked about was Ricardo Pepi and Fulham's bid for him.

According to the guest, Fulham's bid of 38M is pretty much accepted.  They are still working out extras and personal terms.  Fulham is looking at Pepi as a long-term project, and Pepi likes the idea of playing for Fulham because of their past and current American player history, as well as their London location.

The podcast did point out that it will be a big step up for Pepi, coming from the Dutch league to the Premier League, and that Pepi will have to work hard to prove doubters wrong.

As an American, my heart hopes Pepi will come in and step up to compete with Muniz.  My head tells me it probably won't happen and that it is just too big a leap from the Dutch league to the PL.
Anyone can blend into the crowd.  How will you standout when it counts?

I'm not really the biggest fan of Pepi's but I think he will do really well as a substitute. I do not think he would ever be a high level starter because he lacks the overall game of a complete 9, but as a sub he has a real knack for finding space/getting on the end of a cross and finishing which is critical against a packed defense when chasing a goal. Also really good in cups against lower level sides who pack it in.

Is it too much to spend on someone whose best role is likely as a sub? Maybe, but having both a main man(Muniz) then an impact sub(Pepi) is a really effective 2 striker setup and their different styles would complement each other well for different situations.

DadCreature

It's also a boost for Muniz knowing that he doesn't have to go the full 90 when he's back

onecupsoon

Let's hope he has the same impact as Broja......had on Muniz

bencher

Let's not forget Muniz is still not entirely proven as a starting 9. He's never been able to fully dislodge Raul so far. I like the look of Pepi as competition with Muniz and possibly Raul if still around.

Will we have to go out on a limb to sign him or will we give him the elbow?

Gotta hand that to you!
Guy goes into the doctor's.
"Doc, I've got a cricket ball stuck up my backside
"How's that?"
"Don't you start"

Question how would Pepi compare in your opinion with Brian McBride?

They are both American strikers. Not really similar otherwise in terms of playstyle.
