Quote from: jayffc on August 29, 2026, 06:25:23 PM@WolverineFFC hard to judge when we never played to his strengths in this regard. He has spoken on this himself in interviews. His job has been to mostly sit back and allow Robinson to attack down the left and only occasionally given license to push forward, something that I think he's found frustrating but has quitely got on with. But that's not his ideal game, I think we're already seeing in pre season and against Chelsea he's more suited to Arbeloas system and that's why he's been one of our better players in most of the games he's played so far through pre season and into the chelsea game.

Anyway, all by the by, ultimately the decision is the managers and we'll see what we end up with

I hope to be proven wrong and there will be more product from him attack wise in this setup.

I do think it interesting in the previous regime that Robinson was given license to get up and down considering his known limitations. The RB's however were asked not to do so. I could see this as a tactical choice. I also wonder if it was a decision based on lack of confidence in the RB's ability to positively impact the game enough forward to justify the risk of them being caught out.

TBH I think he'll only be number 2 anyway. We are clearly bringing in someone we want to be a starter. But Im massively encouraged by what I've seen so far of Timmy when the breaks are taken off. Onwards we go ay. Looking forward to seeing what Ratiu can offer with some serious pace on both flanks now assuming it is him. Bobb linkup could be really fun

Castagne can play left back too in a crisis...

AnOldBrownie

Tete looks like he's gone to Everton.

You guys were right.

Arbeloa prefers Castagne.

Tete agreed to personal terms with Everton.

Guess Andrei is pretty much a done deal.

I Ronic

Fair play to Tete, signing back on instead of jumping ship last season.
If I've got that wrong, blame the beer here in Margaluff, jewel in the crown on la Isle de Thanet.
I wish him well :)

Wonder how much the fee is for Tete, probably similar to Diop I imagine

demeant0r

As much as I love Tete, I'm the last couple of seasons he's missed probably three months each season

Yeh, with his injury record and age we'll have done well to recoup more than what we spent on him 6 years ago as a now 30 years old that nearly walked to them for free last year. Will be pure profit at this point aswell, so good one for the books A deal that makes sense. Forever a fulham legend.

I think we bought him for £3m so I would be surprised if we sold him for less than that. The main issue is his injury record. If he's fit and playing well he's one of the best right backs in the PL.

Wonder if Tete going there means it's part of a deal for O'brien?
Old skool 90's cheesy quaver

I would think it's around 10 million, some X rumours are 5-6 million

Regardless of fee and wages Kenny has been one of those players you know gives 100% and is a safe pair of hands (or feet) I'll miss him and along with Diop and Lukic wish him only the very best for his future exploits!

Super Mick

Love Kenny but he's too injury prone. Watch him play 150 straight games for Everton 🙄😂

I'd prefer keeping Castagne for a couple of reasons, but I think on the topic of pace it's the other way around.

Fair enough, marginal if so, main thing being how they utilise their runs in attacking spaces. Castagne seems to be more attack-minded in this regard, using what he has to good effect when getting forward and getting to byline/in behind.

On what planet is Castagne better than Tete I will tell you 0 . Tete is better defender better crosser better physicality, better organiser better header of the ball only thing Castagne is better at is being available

Agreed except he can only play a small %age of a season, it seems!

In all fairness Timmy was Belgiums best defender in the world cup by a country mile. No good having a great player if he's injured 70% of the season!

Let's get in there

Can not see a world where we are spending 30m+ on a new keeper this window.

Outlay has already been significant and we are looking likely to spend potentially 25-30m on a CB. 10m net on a RB. Then potentially 5m-8m sort of range for a CM + most likely a loan with option deal at RW. Unless a loan with option deal arrives for a GK I highly doubt we'll see any action there.

p.s dont bother @supermick this poster is only here to provoke. It's pretty clear Timmy is considered the better suited to Arbeloas system and that's ultimately what matters at this point. Timmy has looked very good in a system far more catered to his game imo. Deal makes sense and with some money recouped we put that towards the 2nd fastest player in La Liga who narrowly missed out on team of the year last year https://www.football-espana.net/2026/05/30/team-of-the-season-la-liga

Good move all round I'd say, I know some are a little obssessive about resale value here, and I hget why,  but as someone already put - sometimes there is value in just having a very good player too. We tried for younger options but they werent available, and this guy looks quality, linked to barca and other good teams etc. We have quite a lot of young potential sellable assets with upside now and potentially more to come in the other positions so not mad at this one.

Rayo also now bidding for a RB...so looks like this RB situation is gaining pace.
