Today was for me the worst game of the season, worse than Everton and Leeds away.

We led 1-0 at HT having wasted multiple opportunities. We went into the second half up against it from the go, yet Silva failed to make suitable subs. That's despite today in my opinion being the strongest first 11 and bench of the season.

Two players showed that they are no longer good enough, Castagne and sadly Leno, the latter on 3 occasions was suicidal from the back before a total brain fart at a corner. Castagne is not new, he has been a weak link for too long now.

In my opinion Silva just hasn't got it in him to take a team into Europe and we must make a choice. Clearly he has not chose us so far RE contract. Last season and this season he flops at the pivitol moment of pressing on.

We cant keep making apologies for him

FFC007

We keep going phasing in and out of good patches and then we lose the plot for no reason and go off the boil.
As mentioned earlier, any sniff of getting into the higher echelons of the league and we slip up. It's almost as if we are scared of being in that position!!

I agree re Leno, I think he may well be in need of replacing as he keeps making these unholy goofs far too regularly these days.

Agree, we probably need a manager that can handle that pressure

Honestly, I don't mind if we sign Marco again. He seems to cultivate a good locker room and player growth. And I believe if you have a little humility anyone can learn from their mistakes which hopefully Marco does.

But he needs to stop beating around the bush in regards to signing and he doesn't deserve to be the highest paid manager in the league.

There's no way today was worse than Everton or Leeds away. More frustrating? Maybe - because it's a game we should have won and we didn't take our chances

Oh it was, Leeds away we were terrible for 90, to play well for 45 and then lose the plot is far worse

Super Mick

Are we now the biggest club to have never won a domestic trophy? If he wins us the fa cup and keeps us up with a few woeful PL performances until the end of the season, I think we'll accept that. However, go out away at Stoke and continue playing like dogdirt....

Fulham Tup North

::scarf:: we should have been out of site at halftime...
How can they come out for the 2nd half and play so poorly???
Also, why make a double substitution with 8 minutes left...pointless.
"Whether you think you can or you think you can't,....you're right"

KJS

My biggest issue today was why on earth did Silva make substitutions just as we were defending a corner🙄 that was stupid and extremely nieve from a manager with his experience, he needs bending over and giving a swift size 12 into his nuts!!

I predicted on the match thread that Moyes
would work out our strengths and weaknesses by half time and would change his tactics accordingly. That might explain why we played badly in the 2nd half.

The Cravenette

We never put teams to the sword, we really should have been 3 or 4 nil up at half time. And the Everton fans I encountered in Bishops Park afterwards agreed. They honestly couldn't believe they won today.

We need to be more ruthless if we seriously have Europe aspirations. I am not overly worried though, we will definitely finish top half and Marco will be our manager next season. IMHO.

Depends on your definition of "biggest". Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford in the current PL have never won the league title, the FA Cup or the League Cup.

I'm definitely pro Silva, and want that stability. Agree on Castagne and Leno being weak links, I think that feels tangible on the pitch. Also sadly Andersen defensively feels a problem that's hard to overlook, good as he may be on the ball.

I was at Everton away. There is no way that today compares with that game where we got nothing and deserved nothing. Over 90 minutes today we deserved a point. If we played the second half the same as the first there was only going to be one winner.

Totally agree, what the hell was said at half time. Apart from missed chances in the 1st half we were great, movement was excellent. As for the late subs, dunno, why did Bassey not come on when Cueca got a knock on the bonce.

19 other PL managers, we could poach one!

That's not answering my question.

I'm fine with being a mid-table team if we are consistenly playing attractive/entertaining football but there's been too many games this season where we've just been turgid. We had one of the most frightening benches I've ever seen us have and Marco doesn't make use of it until 75 mins and even still he doesn't use all available subs.
