There is no doubt that Marcos departure has been handled very poorly by all parties. The club have come across as weak and lacking vision and Marco has come across as manipulative / mercenary. Keeping Fulham (the club he professes to love) on hold whilst he attempts to close a more "attractive" proposition for himself elsewhere has been a PR disaster for all concerned and left a bitter taste.
If he had lost the buzz/drive for Fulham, believed he had reached a natural conclusion to his tenure or just couldn't stand working within the parameters set by the club senior executive, he should have just left gracefully and by doing so left on great terms with the fans who would have lauded him for the great job that he has done. Now it all feels rather sour and this long running saga needs to come to a quick conclusion.
As for moving forward, that is all that matters now !!!! No time to look back and wonder what might have been, we need a first class manager with the capacity to tap into a global scouting network. Whilst I have grave concerns on our executive team finding that person, I would be very surprised if they have not already had conversations with potential candidates.
I have been worried for some time now that there has been very little news emanating around Thomas Frank next position. Usually there is some gossip about next landing spots but where TF has been concerned there has been very little beyond him signing for the BBC as a pundit for the World Cup.
I decided to look at the latest odds for next FFC manager and whilst this list looks far fetched and all rather depressing it came as no surprise to me to see Mr Frank in the hot seat. Personally, I have nothing against TF per se, he comes across as an excellent bloke and anecdotally I hear very positive things from friends and ex colleagues who know or have worked with him.
He is not however the right appointment for Fulham and we need to show that we still harbour ambition beyond just Premier League survival.

Wouldn't mind O'Neil for a year with Hayden Mullins as assistant with a view to taking over with O'Neil moving to DOF.
Glasner having talks with AC Milan
Why would Glasner leave Palace (with Europa League) to come to us with no European football at all? Can't see that happening for one second.

I mean we've had a song for years calling Frank a sex offender so why on earth would he want to come here, the optics would be bizarre
McKenna is maybe a like for like in terms of system, Terzic would be an interesting one too. Bordelas would be awful, like an effective Parkerball on steroids so lets not have any suggestions of him please. Knutsen gets too much control of Bodo I think to come here, he also gets a % of player sales so very lucrative.
I'd take a look at the Marcelinho the Villareal manager because he's just left his position I think
Blimey anyone would think our manager is leaving ????
I would also want us to look at Rayo Vallecano's manager Inigo Perez. Was supposed to be Iraola's assistant at Bournemouth but couldn't get a work permit, obviously now doing good things at Rayo getting them to European finals (which should be our aim). So if the work permit is no longer an issue I'd want us to consider him.
Also, anyone know what Pep Lijnders is up to now Guardiola's left City?

He is
Personally would like Pochettino or Glasner in an ideal scenario. Problem with Poch is he's away for the World Cup so will make this summer a very messy one for us in terms of transition.
Disappointed by Marco leaving and think the OP summed it up well that either way it goes to reflect poorly on the club - either from a senior exec perspective, having trousers pulled down, not sorting sooner, leaving it at such a pivotal season, or not giving a clearly committed manager the parameters he wants to operate properly, as he is a very good manager if resourced properly.
Thomas Frank, though he managed Brentford, we have to be honest that he did a good job on arguably even more limited budget/resources.
Slot perhaps as an outsider, a big name - but did averagely with a liverpool squad, and not sure he's the type of character that would do well with our current squad?
Are there any more managers out there?
What happened to Felipe Luis - thought he was an interesting Candidate?
I personally want the ownership to take on an ambitious name, I don't want us to go back to unproven managers who may or may not be potentially very good at this level.. I want someone who genuinely makes me think - ok, this is a good appointment - in fact, someone who makes us all think that.
I'm personally not inspired by McKenna - not because he's not a decent manager, but he's not really done much in terms of PL. I definitely don't want Rosenior, I don't think he's good enough yet at PL level.
Martin O'neill just feels like one of those names that is constantly chucked out.
A shame, an end of an era, and the board are going to have to fork out quite a lot now, because I'd be surprised if Wilson, Chuk and Raul stay.
Uncertain times!
knutsen has had great success with bodo - would be an exciting one on that list for me

Expecting Frank but hoping for someone more exciting.
Managers like Poch aren't realistic options. I expect Frank, but a week ago I posted that I wanted Knutsen so pleased the bookies give him a chance. Knutsen has achieved significant domestic and European success, securing four Eliteserien titles (2020, 2021, 2023, 2024) and leading the club to the last 16 of the Champions League, their first-ever European group stage appearance in the 2021–22 UEFA Conference League, as well as the semi-finals of the 2024–25 UEFA Europa League. Bodo only has a population of 42,000 so impressive stuff.
I wonder if that what Shad was talking to Poch about when they were over here.

Feels to me like the actual situation is completely the opposite to what you're implying. I haven't read anyone getting excited about any of the supposed candidates.
I would rather he stayed than bringing in anyone on that bookies list.
Would love Glasner, but I think he's aiming higher than Fulham. That leaves Frank - which I think is a great fit.
Quote from: Jules on June 02, 2026, 05:52:24 PMGod help us. Scott Parker at 6-1 and Rosenior not far behind. I'm really hoping its neither of those.
If we end up with either, we are going to struggle. Martin O Neill is staying at Celtic to work with Robbie Keane, for PR reasons. Glasner is off to Milan. McKenna and Lampard are staying put.
I'd love to see Eckert. I think he'll learn from Spygate, and become a top manager. Frank would be a good appointment also.
Random discovery, but according to this Pochettino is apparently a Fulham fan...
Go figure

I was one of those people and this list does nothing for me.
Now we've lost probably our best ever manager, and are about to lose half our goals from the squad on free transfers... I'm not feeling great about next season.
Of course maybe they can pull off a coup and get someone outside the three or four "expected" candidates, I just highly doubt it.
Sounds like we were loosing Wilson anyway, and really we should be replacing Raul, kinda feel whether MS or someone else, that train was coming down the tracks, we havent really been great on the transfer to prepare. I do worry that with those goals removed, there is going to be issues if the right manager does not come in, or is not given the budget and enough window time to work with

Slot, Glasner, Frank, all great options. Glasner has won 3 trophies in a year,
Lampard's odds seem to have shortened overnight.
God help us.
I assume that Frank would be more warmly welcomed than Lampard. I always liked Lampard as a player because he took stick and gave it back to us when invariably he scored.
Some of the comments on here... ::wink::
So...first of all is the doom and gloom and how the Khans haven't been ready and were taken by surprise and how that means our season is going to be terrible. I suspect that none of those posters work closely with them or the board.
Secondly, managers that have just got clubs promoted aren't going to jump ship and come to us.
Thirdly..Parker? Like the Khans are going to appoint a manager who left because we had "no ambition".
Fourthly "slot" ... he isn't going to go from arguably the biggest club in the world in fan base terms and come and work in the same division, he will rebuild in Germany or Spain.
As to the others, who knows but I doubt the Khans will appoint a Felix McGrath.

What's your read on Glasner? Of the touted list I think he's by far the best "realistic" option, but I don't think he'd want to move here.

I think what will matter is who gets the Milan job out of Slot and Glasner. Whoever is left out will likely be evaluating whats best. Is it to move to Fulham this summer or wait until something better comes along, which likely will involve having to wait 6 months or so.
I dont see why Glasner would join us tbh. It would just be him trying to replicate the exact same journey with us as he did with CP. He probably wants a bigger club.
Slot could very much consider us if he wants to stay in the prem. But it is a step down for him, and this is a man who turned down Spurs (before their downfall) when he was at Feyenoord, so he doesnt strike me as too much of an opportunist
Thomas Frank's odds are coming in as well.

I just read that the football agent Mendes is Marco Silvas agent and he introduced him to Khan way back.
Could Mendes do another manager meet and greet (and also get paid twice) by again saying to Khan Ive Sérgio Conceição, Bruno Lage & Gennaro Gattuso all available...
Ruben Amorim, Arne Slot, Oliver Glasner are more like it profile wise.
Think Glasner is number 1, Amorim was doing really well before Utd and I think has a point to prove, so would be second choice. Arne Slot least favourite

I thought he left primarily because he thought the club wasn't ambitious enough, selling its best assets (Olise, Eze etc) whilst not replacing them properly.

Nothing wrong with selling assets, as long as you re-purchase smartly. And I suppose that's the rub then, not replacing properly......Although, in this case assuming Glasner feeling club not ambitious enough, one wonders what Glasner would be complaining about, after all, they're doing something right over at Palace with some recent silverware.......

Never selling your best players is crazy because you'll rarely have enough room with SCR/PSR to make bigger purchases, something that's happening to us.
Betting seems to still be favouring McKenna. Shortening to 6-4 on oddschecker.
Frank at 3-1 currently
Interestingly, we're linked with two coaches that are defensively minded - Frank relies on play down the channel + defensive work. Then Bordalas is also a decent coach but defensively structured.
Feels a bit risky for me, unless there was a good recruitment drive. Especially when Silva on his day, tried to play attacking fooball, so it'd be a big shift.

Please not Rosenior. Out of his depth at Premier league level. Needs 2 or 3 years to rebuild his reputation in the championship or abroad.
Martin O' Neill is taking Celtic for another season, so that's him out of contention. Think Robbie Keane has gone about his business well so far in management, going to lesser leagues abroad to learn his trade, and get some experience in European competitions, but a PL club is probably too much for him at this stage. I really hope it's not Rosenior. His manner at Chelsea terrified me. A bad start to the season for us could mean relegation.
Still would not surprise me if a couple of potential candidates are under the radar. We seem to be a lot more discreet nowadays. If we have earmarked a candidate currently at WC then likely difficult to announce something soon you would imagine? If not you would hope or like to think within the next week we will know next manager.

I hope you're right because I fear McKenna, Lampard and Rosenior would all take us straight back to the championhip. With the WC being on our owner's home soil, His team will have a great opportunity to assess the styles of a number of managers. Why rush? There's no training/ preparation taking place till that's over anyway. The US is also a good place for negotiations to happen in a business environment the Khans know, outside the interference of the press who will be busy praising or decrying England's performances.

I reckon that's a 42% overround book (i.e "in the bookie's favour...10%-ish is normal)...and that's without a guarantee that ANY of the 'runners' will 'win'.
Never give a sucker an even break, although I doubt that there is much money in this market.

Only managers there I'd take are any of the portuguese managers, Glasner, Slot and Pochettino, but I doubt most of them would be interested to come to Fulham. Bordalas would get us good results, but his football is painfull to watch at times. Rest of them are either inexperienced or not good enough, imo
I would love to get Solskjær in, I think his usual quick transitions and counter focus could do us well. Also he's a good man manager, like Silva. And we need a forward, his old role. If he could get a say in who we get in and shape our attacking play around that i think we could do really well.
I have not voiced my views on any particular manager, but I don't want Amorim. United got rid of their wingers for his style. Our main investments have been in our wingers...as in Bobb and Kevin.

Amorim would be a ludicrous choice with the players that we have and the only one that would make me lose all hope. I would rather both Lampard and Rosenior even before Amorim
Dino Toppmoller has emerged as a frontrunner in the race to succeed Oliver Glasner as Crystal Palace manager. The German coach is available and appears to be on Steve Parish's radar as he deals with Glasner's departure.
Amorim... no just no!!

Hopefully any next post will NOT include the WHOLE of Sunburywhites list!
Agreed, Brede!
Amorim would be my pick so far out of the names we have been linked with, Did an unreal job at Sporting winning their first league title in 19 years and then winning the league title again. United spell wasn't the best but otherwise we wouldn't be in with a chance of getting him.
Also United he played 523 .. so still playing with two wingers in Mbuemo/Cunha... So Bobb and Kevin would still be central to our future plans

pretty sure their fans weren't happy about 5ATB, though you can't be mad at winning a title.

Five at the back plus Bergeball and Leno. That's 7 of 11 players who are defenders and who won't score in a month of Sundays. Do we really want to watch that?

I'm sometimes not even happy with the footballing default formation of 4-2-3-1 because moving one striker to midefield makes the game less attacking. So imagine moving moving one striker to defense instead...

I could put £50 on Felix Magath and that would probably be enough for him to show up as 10/1 to be next manager. The odds are meaningless.
You're right, the lack of movement in the odds shows that the bookies don't have a clue as to what is happening. Let's hope that means we have other targets and are making our moves discretely rather than the exec team not knowing where to direct their search. Khans end of season notes stating that they have had time to prepare for this moment look a tad hollow right now but it may be a case that we already have a verbal agreement in place with someone but contractually / workd cup exploits prohibits further news at this time.

If Parker becomes manager again I'll slit my ankles as well as my wrists.
O'Neill now 10/1, Rosenior has dropped back to 16/1.
Aside from that, not much change among the "front runners" (i.e. pure guesswork).

Except Diop just scored last game and Robinson scored last night for US. The whole point of 5atb is the wing backs have much more free range to attack and push up to the point of becoming midfielders.
Also there isnt usually the need to have 1 Berge type DM in a 5atb system
5atb is a commonly used system all round Europe and doesn't equal a lack of scoring goals

It really depends whether you do a Southgate or Amorim and pretend your full backs are wing backs to disguise an ultra defensive formation or man up and do a Venables Euro 1996 and play 3-5-2 with wide midfield players as wing backs. I know which one I want to watch.

Glasner very close to taking over at Milan (according to Gazzetta Dello Sport)
Seems he's unofficially agreed to join.
We've got a squad of players without a manager. I'm sure a few of them are weighing up their future options. Was preseason arranged in Portugal again thinking it will ve under Marco? It needs to be the right man through the door, but they can't dither for too long.

Read somewhere he found the grind & pressure of PL a bit much. If true he is likely looking to go to a European team you'd think.
Think he was unhappy that the club kept selling all his best players.

Frustration at not being backed - he had resigned before they won that Euro competition.

Late August is a better bet given that this club makes glaciation appear a matter of moments
I do worry, especially with the World Cup occupying most of the global football community until then.
I want to give the club the benefit of the doubt but having one of the youth coaches lead pre-season, a chaotic late managerial appointment, then the inevitable failure to get in the signings we need by deadline day, let alone the start of the season, could really sink us.
Poch has come in to 11/1... then Erin Terzic and Bo Svenson both 10/1 (never heard of either).
Parker still 8/1.
It's clear that nobody has a scooby.
Terzic is former Dortmund manager but think he is off to somewhere in Spain.
Poch not top of my list but not surprised his odds a dropping as roles around the football world dissapear. Wasnt he spurs manager when Sess went there? If so was it injuries or Poch not warming to Sess that led to Sess not getting game (maybe both?)
i would think) that the betting market for the job is relatively small, that's compared to say Madrid or a top 6 team, so maybe someone putting £20 moves the market a little. Not big on betting as can clearly be seen so just a guess really

I am thinking the same in regards to the odds. No one is betting 10k on a new manager for Fulham if not for insider information. I am thinking that some of the names get bumped because some are betting on wild "least likely" options and then those odds go up because the bets themselves are so few and likely small.
Quote from: Super Mick on June 07, 2026, 01:36:12 PMWe've got a squad of players without a manager. I'm sure a few of them are weighing up their future options. Was preseason arranged in Portugal again thinking it will ve under Marco? It needs to be the right man through the door, but they can't dither for too long.
Or maybe they are excited about getting a manager in with new ideas.
The more I hear about Amorim the more I like the idea. He wanted to take the United job in the summer so he could plan and get his players in but was told it's now or never and joined in November. Before this his Sporting side was playing really good attacking football.
He plays a system that I think could work with our players and a few signing.

I'm hoping it's someone like him who has something to prove and a fight to show others they are wrong about his time at a big club than someone like McKenna. 9 home loses in a row and Ipswich having picked up THEIR LOWEST EVER points total in the top flight. McKenna's 10.5% win rate is among the LOWEST RECORDED BY ANY MANAGER in Premier League history and Parker has been in that league!

I have to admit I have reservations about him being a manager in premier league! He made more problems for himself at Utd than he ever should with that rigid system. His lack of flexibility was damning I thought considering how easy Carrick turned it around there. I look at him as talking a good game as opposed to delivering on the pitch. How a so called football manager can't see Mainoo is a very talented player and yet flooded the midfield with defenders?
Safe to say personally I think same would happen to him at Fulham and we would all be concerned come late September.

I did mention him once in another thread (as did another poster) - but how about Vincenzo Montella? Like Poch won't be available until after the World Cup. But, he does tick at least a couple of boxes (Fulham connection, similar style of play to Silva). This from Gemini:
Coaching Philosophy & Style
Attacking Play: As a former prolific striker, Montella favors a possession-based, attacking style of play.
Tactical Adaptability: While his default is 4-2-3-1, he often tweaks his approach to exploit opponent weaknesses, using inverted wingers and overlapping full-backs.
Man Management: He is praised for his ability to unify diverse squads and get the best out of creative, technical playmakers.
He also mentioned (in an interview from 2015) that he would like to manage in the Premier League and mentions us in a very positive way:
Montella, 40, was an accomplished forward who won a league title with Roma in 2001 and also played for Italy at Euro 2000 and the 2002 World Cup. Yet he also has fond memories of his loan spell at Fulham, in the second half of the 2006-07 season, and aspires to work again in the Premier League — this time as a coach.
"One day, I would like to," Montella told Standard Sport. "I know very well that it is a journey but I'm learning English and after that, who knows? I'm doing better with English. I wouldn't say I was at a very high level but my tutor says I could speak it and I try to have a lesson most weeks.
"So I hope so, because I like English football very much. I'm inspired by the work of coaches like Carlo Ancelotti and Roberto Mancini, who did very well indeed at Chelsea and Manchester City respectively.
"They brought an Italian type of mentality, which is not to be underestimated, to two important clubs, two important cities. At Manchester City, they had not won a major trophy for years but Mancini managed to do so.
"Both showed they were great managers during their time in England and what they did was a great advert for Italian coaches. In my opinion, the coach education in Italy is the best, certainly at a tactical level.
"My time at Fulham was a wonderful experience and I would have liked to have stayed in England for longer but perhaps at that stage of my career I wasn't in a position to handle such a quick, physical game."

Im not over the moon about McKenna but lets be fair to him at least. His Ipswich side was basically a League One with a lot of young player signings all signed in the same summer window. So I dont think it does him any real justice putting it like that.

IF.
I simply do not believe that Dyche would ever happen unless we were bottom three or four at Christmas time.
I don't know if the Khans have developed a style as such over the years, but whatever it is they have developed, Dyche is the anithesis of it.

McKenna has just massively shortened to 4/6, everyone else apart from Fat Frank has gone out.
Maybe someone knows something.
It was reported we would need to pay £8mil in compensation to Ipswich for McKenna. That seems a hell of a lot and quite a risk when there are managers out there without a club, or without one after the WC.
I think McKenna is decent and, as others have said, with our better squad could do a v good job for us.
I just worry that it would be a costly and pretty unambitious appointment.
Time will tell.
Assuming Rosenior is now ruled out following the shambles at Chelsea (but when is it anything else there) then IMO Hugo Oliveira should be considered. He left Fulham under 2 years ago to take a managers job in Portugal. He is a highly experienced coach and presumably knows many of the players and how they play.

If this the shortlist - then it is massively disappointing and shocking that the club think this is the best we can do!
Klinsmann has only spent around 15 months as a manager in the last 10 years (most of that as South Korea coach).
Amorim has the worst record of any Man Utd manager in recent times - something like a 32% win rate.
I simply cannot believe we are even speaking to Dyche.
Klinsmann is just a name with no serious pedigree as a manager and probably only got the appointments because of who he is. Amorim I can understand us being linked to but the other two are just plain lazy on Fulham's part if indeed there is any truth in the rumours.
They just said on Talksport (I know) football news latest that McKenna is Likely to be leaving Ipswich, that with the sudden shortening of odds does look like things are moving in that direction, TBH seeing the rather limited realistic choices it could be for the best I for one certainly prefer McKenna than Dyche.

There is nothing at all that excite me about these names whatsoever.
Klinsmann would be exceptionally uninspiring.
Amorin would make me outright angry.
Dyche would make me really, really sad
At this point I am actually hoping for McKenna.
But whatever. I will give all of the above a chance to prove me wrong until proven otherwise.
I do dread the extreme squad shakeup and full year of adapting to a new style of play if Amorin truly comes in, please God I hope there is no truth to him being considered at all.
For whatever reason the Khan's seem determined to spend a fairly crazy amount of money (for managers) on our next manager, they couldn't get Marco in at 8/10 million a year so they have found someone with a release clause that matches that
Quote from: Hugh Janus on June 09, 2026, 11:03:29 AMAccording to Sky Sports it's between Klinsmann, Amorin and Dychy.
This is too stupid of a list to make up, so its either true or one of Skys sources is having a right laugh.
Dyche is as already mentioned a manager that is complete opposite of Marco and McKenna. So either our board either dont care or dont have a clue about squad building and playing styles, or either McKenna or Dyche is completely made up, "smokescreens" even, for whatever reason. Personally I find the first explanation to be more logical.
Amorim is the sane choice here, and if the list is in fact true then by god I hope we get Amorim. Out of those 3, it would be like getting Pep basically.
I just fear that his dogmatic view of his tactics is going to be his demise here. But maybe we can get a really good first season, similair to Brunos had previously and Ange at Spurs. But I do think you need a tactically smart manager in the league nowadays
Klinsmann is an absolute joke.
But hey, I wouldnt read too much into it. According to some on here, Fulham is keeping things under wraps and the real manager we are about to appoint is not yet known to the media.
At least Parker isn't on the shortlist.

And as already mentioned, his side was basically a League One side. The back bone of that team played in League One just a year before they got promoted to the prem.
They clearly gambled on young, overpriced, English players. Didnt pan out. Wouldnt hold it against McKenna too much to be fair. But his lack of Premier League football is deffo a weakness and something that makes him quite the gamble. And if we are going to gamble, there are other managers in Europe with more experience and just as exciting.

They clearly gambled on young, overpriced, English players. Didnt pan out. Wouldnt hold it against McKenna too much to be fair. But his lack of Premier League football is deffo a weakness and something that makes him quite the gamble. And if we are going to gamble, there are other managers in Europe with more experience and just as exciting.
....and without an £8m release clause.

But £8m is nothing in today's game for the right manager. Compare that with the price of players and it pales into insignificance.
All becoming drawn out as expected, MS was checked out ages ago, and now we will go through weeks of not knowing, before a matter of days to find some players to cobble a squad together. So poorly run

It's not drawn out at all, Marco was still under contract until end of June so no point in paying 2 managers wages, now MS is definitely going the club kno exactly where we stand and are now in the process of signing a replacement, if that candidate is still at s club then negotiation has to take place.
Give the club a chance ffs, Palace have known since Christmas and have only just selected their new boss
I was sorry to see Marco leave but it was clearly on the cards for months prior to his eventual exit. I would have hoped in the circustances that we would move at very smart pace to appoint and annouce his successor. Perhaps we will but it's looking less amd less likely and I find that terribly disappointing.
Man City too. We could of course pick a boss within three days and appoint him. But I'd prefer a bit of time taken. Nothing major is happening in the next two weeks what with the world cup beginning.

20m a year? They could have at least made it believable :slap:
Mckenna would just be so so uninspiring - would imo signal a lack of ambition from the club. Why would we appoint a manager that's biggest achievement is two prem promotions and who this season finished second despite having the best squad in the league by some margin. The one season he did manage in the Prem he was relegated in April.
A lot here have a negative perception of Amorim after his United spell but he is someone who still divides United fan opinion and there's no denying before United got him he was a very highly rated manager. Most people sight him 'not playing wingers' which simply isn't true. This summer he signed Mbuemo and Cunha and played 523 (deploying them both as inside forwards) which I'd say Bobb and Kevin are more suited too than being traditional run down the wing and cross 'wingers'
It will be interesting to see who we do end up with and I am quietly hoping it will be someone we haven't been linked with yet that will pleasantly surprise our fans
If we get Kieran I would be pretty content with that. I see similarities to Marco. His stock is a bit lower than where it was. A promising young coach who will hopefully be backed in the market in the same way Marco was.
He plays a good brand of footie. Is good at working with young techie players.
Hopefully we get Liam Delap over the summer too.

it'd be a dissapointing hire for me - Marco had managed in the PL and in some instances done quite well, though ultimately jumped ship too much.
McKenna has never succeeded or done much in the PL - which means he could just get us relegated. Seems like such an unecsessary risk to take, especially given what Marco's done with the club and the relatively strong position he's left us in.

let's look at the alternatives though for clubs in a similar position or size to us...
Palace have replaced Glasner with Bruno Lage who took Lens to 2nd in Ligue 1 and won them their first trophy last year.
Bournemouth have replaced Iraola with Marco Rose who had consistently got his team into the top four in Germany.
Both have taken the positivity given to them by their managers and are seemingly building on it (though time will obviously tell)
And Fulham - we'd be hiring someone who's been promoted from the league below twice and got relegated from the PL in the time he was up before.
That's the difference that makes him dissappointing.
Bournemouth have never won a major trophy, and only finished 5 points ahead of us last season (yes in Europe but for first time). Their ground is smaller, they're on the coast instead of one of the most liveable cities on the planet (which admittedly isn't everyone's cup of tea - though their replacement has lived in cities).
We were shy of Europe by 2 POINTS!! - we really should be being ambitious and looking up and for someone who can take us to that next level. Pochettino would be in that catergory.. McKenna as decent a manager as he may be, is not the answer for where we as a club are now.
What we need, and I fear is lacking, is an ownership who can and will invest in a timely enough manner to build out a strong squad. Right now, we're on the brink of losing Wilson and Raul (who's just signed a two year contract with an option for a third at Wolves), who combined scored 19 goals (out of 47 total - 40% of our goals last season).
More than anything we desperately need someone who can take the club by the scruff of the kneck and push on, and that needs to be a manager who has calibre and a reputation the players can respect and feels on par to or better than Marco, which in my humble opinion won't be McKenna.
With McKenna, and having lost Raul and potentially Wilson, we'd be looking closer to relegation than up the table.

Who we sign, as in my opinion proven by Marco, is largely dependent on the budget and manager. Marco, in my mind, attracted the likes of ESR, Kevin, Bobb. Players really liked Marco, they believed in him and his management and tactical style. He was developing a reputation for developing players, for playing a hard to beat and attractive style of football and showing fairness for players - keeping Cairney, signing Sessegnon etc, giving King his debut, allowing players to recover etc, and was consistently getting us as a club competing in the european spots.
For me, his undoing was largely squad depth and transfer activity. Had we got Pepi signed in Jan, or when he had come and had a supposed medical only for us not to want to sign him from during the season (I get it, but fundamentally proved to be a pointless intellectual arguement as Pepi went on to finish the season strongly and is now at the world cup with the US), then we could quite have easily ended last season in Europe instead of Bournemouth or whoever else, or at least given Marco the belief and impetus that transfers and squad building was going in the right direction.
I don't see those qualities (yet!) in McKenna, and I don't want us to take the step back in the hope he may show them tbh.
I want someone with more credibility at the top of the game who can galvanise and help the club push on!

Yeah, but whilst he's claiming that Pepi has made a full recovery, finished the season banging in goals for PSV and is now at the world cup with USMNT and Marco has left the club, so I wouldn't jump on what TK has said as being a 100% accurate representation of what happened or the truth behind it. It's quite clear that Pepi is physically fine at the moment and doing well, and Marco's main gripe with the club was how it did transfers - which he acknowledged publicly and even TK said was an area they didn't always see eye to eye on.

No we wouldn't in relation to the release clause as that's no longer valid, however we would be of we didn't compete date Ipswich, they would be due compensation to around 7 million for the balance of his contract, that's valid for 12 months. Thats as per sky
Was 1 million the reason we didn't a to ate the release clause? Maybe maybe not personally I think he is taking a break otherwise he looks like a dick
Marco wasnt joining Benfica in the morning. All off. Then confirmed in the evening.

Hugo Oliveira into 3/1
Below from Ben Jacobs
With Kieran McKenna now choosing to take a break from football, Fulham are back to assessing several options, including Frank Lampard and Famalicão coach Hugo Oliveira, who worked with Marco Silva.
Ruben Amorim discussed, but unclear if the ex-Manchester United boss is open to the role.
Understand one other name who has made the shortlist is Palmeiras' coach Abel Ferreira.🏡
Quote from: junior white on June 10, 2026, 06:44:35 PMHugo Oliveira into 3/1
He's hardly got any managerial experience. Most of his experience was gained following Silva from club to club. If appointed, then Khan must regard him as a continuity candidate but personally totally underwhelmed. Abel Ferreira at least had a history of trophies in Brazil.
What about the guy at Benfica, could do worse, his name slips my mind at the moment.😅
Read the room Mr Khan! No way to Frank Lampard as Fulham manager.

Looking at the shortlist I'd be happy with Amorim. A bit rigid on system but would suit our squad. Back 3 with wing backs. Having a Portuguese manager again would bring some continuity.

Will be interesting to see how this one plays out.
Now Arbeloa would be coup. I'd imagine he could attract some bigger names into the club.
Didn't he lose the dressing room at Real Madrid? Too much of a Gamble.
Im not expert on Arbeloa, but his experience as a head coach is actually less than McKenna (or anyone else for that matter).
He has what, 20-25 games with Real? And failed. With a team like Real? And the only reason ge got the job in the first place is because he was a former player
Big no for me. Rather have Mckenna
Jebus F'in Christ, some of you are impossible to please
I think our less star powered squad could be a good setting for Arbeloa. I just haven't seen a full match of his yet. Some say it's a 4-3-3, but I also see some of a 4-4-2. I'd be curious what his plans would be with our current crop.
It definitely is a big jump to premier league though - and I imagine he's really going to have to convince TK on what makes him different enough to stand out. My gut says to look elsewhere, but I also want us to secure one piece of the puzzle now rather than later.

Their squad is toxic; they refused to follow instructions from Xabi Alonso as well this season, probably why Real have gone for Mourinho because he will go psycho on them and get rid if they don't listen to him. The job is/was a poisoned chalice so I don't think he can be judged too harshly, a bit like how Xabi's stock hasn't dropped at all despite failing there as well

Agree with you on that. But peoples major doubts about McKenna was his lack of Premier League experience (or bad Premier League experience) but Arbeloa has got 28 senior matches as a manager under his belt
Weve seen how former players coming in as managers, getting top jobs way too early in their managerial career and failing.
I just dont see why Arbeloa would be a suitable candidates other than the fact that he has managed Real Madrid - a job he got because he was already at the club and Perez likes him.
As Ive mentioned other times: if we are going to gamble, there are other managers (not yet with " big names") out there with more experience that are also more exciting and has actually achieved things

Alvaro Arbeloa anyone
Arbeloa would be a great appointment. Would be such a coup getting the latest Real Madrid manager at Fulham and a big show of ambition. He beat City and Pep 5-1 over two legs this season and is very highly rated from his spells managing Castilla (Madrids youth team that plays in Spanish Championship) and his youth player development.

I put details of Arbeloa's tactics into AI. Interesting that the greatest concern was that he doesn't have a Plan B. Real to Fulham means that you have to modify your tactics. I think that I would want a manager with greater experience and particularly experience of the Premier League, but sometimes you have to roll the dice and take a chance. Sounds like he favours a more aggressive 4 3 3, but we will see if he takes the job. Easy to play aggressively when you have one of the best couple of teams in your league.

Don't get so carried away, it's hardly a coup to get a manager who lasted 6 mths with their first team and prior to that had zero top flight experience. Just because it's RM doesn't make him a great coach overnight.

But his strongest support doesn't come from the boardroom or external analyses. It comes from the locker room . Arbeloa has won over the group. And that's not just a figure of speech. Key players, influential figures, believe he has managed to build a connection that isn't always easy at Real Madrid and that wasn't present with Arbeloa. Arbeloa gained a more approachable attitude without losing authority, he demanded things rationally on crucial nights, and he tried, especially on important nights, to ensure his team had a clear plan. At a club like Real Madrid, where the locker room is complex and often decisive, that kind of support is invaluable."
So who knows what went wrong.
What went wrong is they didn't win anything and were well behind Barca in the league. The club are notoriously impatient.
If Amorim is out, then by all means: welcome Mr Arbeloa. ::wine::

Gazzetta dello Sport reporting Amorim is now in pole position for the AC Milan job.

We are taking a big and unnecessary risk if we get Arbeloa. He has coached Real Madrid youth for 5 years and Real Madrid B team for 1 year. It's a big step up to coach Fulham in a league he is not familiar with. We could easily get a more experienced coach.

He was just in charge for the biggest team in the world, coached the likes of Mbappè, Vini Jr and Bellingham. That's experience no other manager Fulham could attract would have.. Knocked peps man city out the CL (more experience beating Man City than 50% of PL managers) and no doubt gained valuable experience.

If this was Brighton, Brentford or Bournemouth hiring him they'd be called revolutionary (not neccesarily by you but some posters on here for sure would claim something along those lines), and yet for Fulham it's an "unneccessary risk"? This isn't directed at you specifically, although I would like to know who you'd prefer from the experienced candidate pile because most of them are just middling managers who won't really move the dials for the club. Yes Arbeloa is a risk, but he's learned from the best as a player, had a great career and had several years to define what he wants to be as a coach in the RM youth and B team setup. He will inherit a stable and mid-table standard PL squad that will need some reinforcements, for which he will likely have been given reassurances of signings to mould the squad in his image. It could fail, it could be more of the same or it could elevate us to new heights. We'll only know this time next year and perhaps some of the aversion to his impending appointment from some is that he's more of an unknown, but if we're to be ambitious as a club it's maybe worth taking that risk than going for a Dyche, McKenna, Lampard et al who haven't pulled up any trees in the PL despite having many chances to do so.
For me the risk is more around the club backing him in a timely manner to get the squad ready for a solid pre-season and hitting the ground running; he employs a similar 4-3-3 philosophy that Silva did so the squad don't have to learn anything relevelationary, there will just need to be some refinement of roles and expectations along with some new faces to bolster the team

Explains why Khan wants Arbeloa - he's sick of losing against Mam City ! (20 defeats in a row and counting) ::cry::
Montella may well part company with Turkey if they don't get out of their group after defeat to Australia. Ex-player inexplicably disregarded by Coleman and Sanchez. He has decent managerial experience although mostly appointments of short duration. Better bet than Arbeola anyway.

Don't think he was disregarded at all. He got a fair bit of playing time considering he was a Jan loan (backup to McBride/Helgusson and John was it?)
Think Bocanegra scored more than most of them!

I think Montella got injured in one of his first appearances and was used sparingly after that - as he was clearly still carrying the injury for the rest of the season. Probably one of the best strikers I've seen in a Fulham shirt, but cannot be rated as such giving how few minutes he played.

Still no manager, what are SK/TK doing,
I don't envy the task of the yet to be appointed manager trying to transform this team into an offensive threat. The current squad lacks the talent which means considerable investment is needed in the transfer market - though, I'm not convinced we have the war chest. Fingers crossed it can be pulled together.

Ok, Keith Andrews would like a word. Being a good manager is sometimes an unknown quality. Duff was a top, top player, with a wealth of Prem, European and international experience. I thonk he went home to Ireland, for personal reasons. Bring up his family, settle away from the pressure of the heights of the game. Now he's back, in England, and I think he has the quality to be a top manager. But we'll probably pick some experienced loser, whose been sacked three or four times.
