He is probably the most gifted footballer I have seen wear a Fulham shirt since the Maestro (Best and Moore excepted as they were past their prime when they played for us). If only we would show more ambition in our signings to support him he may be tempted to stay for I believe he really does enjoy playing for us. As much as I want that it would be wrong to deprive him of the opportunity to prove himself amongst the European elite.
The sad thing is that unless we raise our sights and our ambitions we will never be able to hold onto any player who shows anything approaching his abilities.
When a client comes and wants to hire you, but you don't want them as a client but you also don't want to alienate them; a common tactic is to quote them a fee you know they can't pay. It's what's happening to Dempsey and what they should do with Dembele as well.

Difficult if he has a min fee release clause.
Dembele was ridiculously good today.
Fingers crossed we can keep hold of him during the next 7 days! Be gutted if we lost Dembele but kept Clint fp.gif
He really was outstanding. Really, really good. He could play for any team in the world.
The gamble, I guess, is: do we keep him and risk him leaving on a free in the hope we can do enough for him to want to stay (top 6, which even might not be enough) or do we cash in and try to find the next Dembele?
He's not world class. That's an over used term. But he's certainly got the potential. He was truly outstanding today and last week. He's definitely good enough to get in that Man Utd team. Better than Cleverly. The one negative from the game is how well he played. I hope Spurs get Moutinho and Ferguson is happy with what he has already.

No...can't agree with you on this one... he is indeed world class. He could slot in for any top top top side in Europe and fit right in.

See for me world class is the elite group. Just playing for the best teams in the world doesn't make you world class. There's a select few players that count as world class.
Depends what you mean by world class. He'd start for every team in the league and most in Europe.
He's worth £20million easy.

so the best 5 at each position say?
I always define world class as... you would be hard pressed to find anyone even marginally better.... from what I saw of him today... he was world class. Nobody could have done what he did better.
He was incredible today. I lie in bed worrying about that release clause.
I very much think United will make a bid ... exactly what they need.
I'd settle for 10-12m.

i think dembele needs to add goals to his cv to become world class
I think I saw O' Red Nose reaching for his check book after that stoppage time shot by Moose. He was clearly the best midfielder on the pitch.
Puts Dempsey to shame with how he tries to engineer dream move. Virtuoso performance away at Old Trafford versus sitting at home sulking.

Xavi and Modric are both world class (and better than Dembele) and neither are at all prolific.

I would pick Dembele over Modric... stronger on the ball, better defensively.

I don't think that gives enough credit to Kagawa. Without him today, we'd have won, I'm sure.

The most in one season of his career by far. An average season for him has been about 5 or 6 in the best attacking side football has ever seen.
To say the least he has settled in nicely. If he could hit the back of the net 15 times this season then the world would be his oyster.

I'm not saying he is world class, I'm saying your reason for saying a CM is not world class is stupid and the reason casual fans spent the best part of the last ten years saying Lampard was world class.
I'd be more than happy for Dembele to continue to not be productive just so he can stay here and continue to wow us fans.
Just brilliant. Wow.

Fantastic player, loved him today.I hope we'll be able to keep him, even if I think it will difficult.
Wonder if we have seen his last game in a fulham shirt. Next prem game on saturday and tranfer window closes on Friday...
It's all been said. He is superb and after today I fear even more for the next 7'days. Please stay. I just love watching him play. Can see him going to Spurs which would be a kick in the guts!

If Moussa had suited up in red today, I suspect he'd have been in for Cleverley or Anderson, not Kagawa. And we'd have likely seen even less of the ball.
I wasn't going to post on this thread until I read somebody say that they would be happy to get 10 - 12 million for Dembele. I wouldn't want to sell him for £30 million, he's the best player I've ever seen in a Fulham shirt, and if we sell him for anything less than £20 million, then it makes me wonder why we even bother supporting Fulham if as soon as we get a good player we let the likes of Tottenham steal him from us.
As someone as already said, I just love to watch him play, he's fantastic!

He'll be a 30m player when he gets 10-15 goals and 10-15 assists in a season.
For now I'd value him at 15m plus.
If we lose Dembele along with Dempsey, we are f@cked, sorry for the negativity but how are we going to compete with such a thin squad, our bench hardly smacks of goals and point accumulating...
Few injuries to are decent starting 11... Christ i hate this transfer bollocks

No, actually it don't mate. Different players, different styles, different positions. With Dempsey on the pitch today, 3-3. We need every piece of the puzzle. Dembele was boss today, but how many goals did he score ?? That's not a pejorative but to point out the missing ingredient.

Agreed. I remember Dempsey was quoted as saying dembele was the most talented player he ever played with but until he can put the ball in the net on a regular basis I can't call him world class yet. Just can't. Sometimes he still has a tendency to dazzle to deceive. Lack of finishing is what he still needs and that's it. He has all the other tools.

In a way Dembeles way may hurt us more as a club in the long run than dempseys though if you think about it.
I actually got to see MOTD today and was interested to see that they thought Dembele rather than Kagawa was man of the match. :scarf:
Unfortunately they also observed, probably correctly, that Fulham would struggle to hang on to him this season. :dft004:

I agree AG and a Kagawa/Dembele partnership would be better midfield than anyone Sir Alex can put currently partner Kagawa with in my opinion. I hate that thought and will be waiting for the witching hour to pass hoping that Dembele is still in white.
I was ridiculed last season when I said dembele was messi like, but he is a world class player, and getting better and better.... He will go, and I for one will be gutted, as I just love watching him run with the ball!
Was referring to Dembele's conduct vs Dempsey's in a potential transfer situation, not their playstyle/skill. Obviously, they are not the same as players.
