Very tough game today. An early goal for us would really help
Come on Fulham, is this the first prem game in the green shirts?
Green jersey.
Great challenge by Diop
I wonder if the WHU fans still feel £15m for Diop was a great deal for them?

At first i thought he was trying to get a call for stepping on palhinha
We are keeping a great shape and balance and are punching forward when necessary giving them something to think about every time we have possession.
Joaos played some sloppy passes this first half, very unlike him.
22 minutes in & no dive from Wilson yet, must be a record.
newc on top now, at least possession wise
We're doing ok. Newcastle are a well coached team
If we are playing out from the back I feel we need to play out quicker, Newcastle are too well organised
We look very lethargic.
Yes I do think we look a bit less lively than usual.

there is two days recouperation difference between the teams. it might show a lot more in the second half. hope were still in the game or heads could drop and we could see a few goals in the wrong end
dropping like flies
I think we are just having to work very hard to keep them at bay
They're taking it to us. Hopefully we can hold strong.
need to flip-flop Bobbi & Willian back to normal
BDR looks knackered
I like Willian more and more each game
Bobby playing very deep
poor cross after moments of skill from willian
This feels like a game for Dan James
Really missing Robinson today.
LeNoWAY
Newcastle are impressing us really well
Tete and Willian working really well on the right (solid, sharp and enterprising) - Kurzawa and Reid on the left less so....
We're under the cosh here.
nice dive 7.2
No contact whatsoever there
We need half time asap
That was such a clear dive
im 2 mins behind but that was a waste of a free kick from pereira. we're seeing less and less of the ball so the last thing we want to be doing is surrendering possession cheaply.
Defo a dive
That was never a free kick
Reed nearly in there
Palhinha radar a bit off at the moment.

LeNoWay (I like that, so I stole it... ;P)
A strange decision from the ref there.
This ref is losing the plot.
Need to make it to half time
Ref is the usual crap
Ah the old eyes are only working for Newcastle fouls situations from the Ref as per usual
I love watching Marco on the sideline
Bruno toast? Lots of tears.

Very worrying when even the Sky pundits think it's a foul.
That foul on Reed not given was just ridiculous. That would've given a free kick in a good area.
We're doing ok,we had a hard game late Thursday,Newcastle
have had a good break.
I'm never surprised these days when the ref gives something against us that clearly was not supposed to.
That camera angle on wilson's shirt pulling diop and diop responding with hands over wilson's chest leaves a bad taste. Somethings i hate about this sport...
Extremely weak refereeing, he's letting the fans get to him perhaps.
Why are PL refs so crap?

You would think it is a bad injury the way he was welling up. But that being the case, why did he stay on pitch until half time...!?
Leno gives us so much calm on defence. Such a bargain.
We're doing good defensively but, similar to against Chelsea we're struggling to create clear cut chances on the offensive sides.
Wish MS would try Solomon instead of BDR on right wing.
A few leggy players out there but Reed has been everywhere again so far
Surely a booking if Trippier moved the foam forward at the free kick?

Mitro looks a bit tired by his normal standards for someone that's had a rest.
Think Leno, Reed and Tete had good first halfs. Joao needs to sort out his passing

Saint Maximan on
This ref is going to do us in the end
that's a yellow?
No way we end the game with 11 men given this ref and the track record at SJP
Burn just did to Mitro what Diop did to Wilson and of course no foul
Kurzawa is being caught out time and time again.
Ref cr4p and missing Jedi. What could possibly go wrong!
Reed a one man assault weapon today.
Kurzawa is being targeted by Newcastle - not unexpected mind you - and will be even harder with an early yellow card.
Reed however terrific
However only Newcastle creating actual chances!
Goodie fans in uproar as the ref actually gives a decision against them!
Wilson is such a cheat
I hope they don't drug test Reed after the game, no way his urine isn't nuclear green given the amount of energy he seems to have
Hoping Reed can keep running...
He's not got everything right, but I genuinely think this ref has had a decent game on balance.
He's at least 5x better than the shambolic display by David Coote on Thursday night.
Brilliant cover by Reed.
Somehow we have to give Mitro a bit of service. He's been given absolutely nothing to work with.
This is the type of game where I would love a speedster up top for a quick counter attack.

Mitro - Amazing player, but he needs to stay away from penalties. I have been saying this literally for years. Pereira and Willian are substantially better at them.
Pope was diving the right way so the double-hit probably saved Mitro there anyway

I really don't like Wilson

Wilson diving as per usual
If, after the penalty kick has been taken:
the kicker touches the ball again before it has touched another player:
an indirect free kick (or direct free kick for a handball offence) is awarded

Something I don't understand. The penalty was awarded three or so minutes after play had continued. Surely those minutes are void and the time should re-start after the penalty?

Obviously Newcastle away is a very tough match, but I didn't like MS' substitutions at all. What Dan James can add in such game? Why the rush to bring on Tosin? No Solomon minutes at all? It just felt MS plays not to lose instead of trying to crack a win in one of those nights when we could actually win in Newcastle.
Never mind. We'll grow better from this.
Of the past 4.75 mins, about 30secs of playing time
Gutted.
Toon fans already blowing at 95 mins even though the ball has only been in play for about a min. Cretins.
Can't believe this lot are third in the table.
I think it was a mistake to bring Tosin on.
Mitro should never take another penalty for us again
Tosin absolutely doing nothing for their goal just watching them score
0-0 would have been a great result

Don't forget the exhaustion after the Chelsea game plus the 2 day turn round. Agree about Tosin - he lost his man.
Marco needs to have the nads to tell Mitro his PK time is done.
Tough loss, but strong performance. Hard to find fault in anyone's game against an in form team (though at 5 Ws, Fulham had the better form starting the game ).

We didn't hurt them enough which meant that it was wave after wave of Newcastle attack. It would have been a superb point but on balance couldn't hugely argue against losing the game; it's just such a shame when you get so close to holding them off. Players were exhausted indeed and Marco made his first substitution only at the 75' mark if I recall correctly.
He also didn't made the ideal subs (IMO), more to get a draw rather than trying to win.
I don't think Dan James has the skills to create anything against as strong defence as Newcastle. Would much rather see Manor on if we're about to create something out of nowhere. The Tosin sub was.. yeah, not an ideal one to say the least.
Anyway our next step as a team, is to to start changing this mindset and play like a team that believe they can win away also against strong sides. Marco is not there yet, mental wise. Hopefully we'll get there. One game at a time.

I think the subs should have been more positive (no need to go 5 at the back for starters). We are on 31 points, there shouldn't be a desperation to hang on for a point in games like this - apart from anything else it plays into the hands of the opposition.
i agree with the sentiments of most posters on here that maybe hanging on for a draw was with hindsight the wrong way to go about it. who knows fresh legs and a willingness to take the game to newcastle from the 60th minute might have took some of the at times relentless pressure off us.
part of me thought at 0-0 marco would be reluctant to change anything because it was working.
maybe a different more carefree attitude ie these are third, its almost a free hit, lets go for a win. we have enough points in the bag to not need to worry about every point as if its the end of the world.
but its hard for managers to break away from the hang on to what weve got instead of speculate to accumulate thinking.
no big shame in losing to a top 3 team, buit i thought they were there for the taking if we'd had more of a go.
but its hard to have a go when the players are in dug in mode.
