Title: NFR- Packers-Steelers..who are you guys going for?
Post by: Jimbobob on February 04, 2011, 07:37:42 PM

Okay for all the Americans on the board...who are you going for in the Super Bowl?
I like both teams and I have a like for Rodgers but I have to go with the Steelers.
I am a Patriots and Panthers fan but my leanings are always with the AFC most of the time and the Steelers beat the Jets so I have to go with them.

Hope to hear from you guys!

It's the NFL - National Football League..You know that:you are just being provocative..and I thought we were not supposed to say "EPL". I thought us yanks got slapped for that??? Yes it is Cheese heads and Terrible towels...most similar to a football scarf. It is our national passion in the states. No one can dive because if you do you get your head knocked off! :037: :037: :037:
Thanks for responding and I am glad your computer problems are corrected!

It will be llive over HERE in the UK. But I shall start to watch and may well not manage to last to the end. Remember last year for a dull match livened up by a great touchdown. But who what or where I couldn't remeber. Any game that feels like it lasts several days and yet the players are only playing for one minute 33 seconds, does seem a little hard to watch.

The Americans moves in mysterious ways Mr Freddy.

However after the Indians bought Blackburn strange things are beginning to happen there to. To be honest, I prefer someone with a cheese on their head to this:

Who should I support?

If these were Premier League teams, who would they be?

It has something to do with the fact that Blackburn is owned by the largest chicken producers in India...

Long story short they are two of the four or five greatest Championship winning teams in our NFL history.
There is tons of back story with the two "quarterbacks" so you can't go wrong supporting either team if you have no dog in the fight! I will not go into a long post about the NFL because it is an American game that I know you guys have no interest in but it is our national passion. I am an exception with loving "football" as much as I love our "football". They are two different sports that I love to see at the highest level. Most Americans do not get or like or have an appreciation for FFC etc.. football.
They  would be the "Top Four" level teams as far as fan support, love, always winning etc.. the Steelers more than the Packers as of late. :018: :018: :018:

This is how I feel too. But I'd hate to see Roethlisberger ("Rape"lisberger?) to get another Super Bowl ring. As a Seahawks fan, I'll still a little bitter about Super Bowl XL so maybe that's why I want to see the Packers win.

Can't stand that pr!ck Cutler! Rivers is the man and he has proven that. He is a top 3 qb in the league. I have been saying we need a new head coach for years. Norv is a good OC and not a head coach. And yes we do have the best throw back uniforms. They were voted best uniform all time of any of the four major U.S. sports teams. I wish we would make those are uniforms on a permanent basis.

Yea I was sorry to see that they resigned him We have in Charlotte with the Panthers your old Defensive coach Rivera. I hope he works out but we have a complete moron as an owner that doesn't have to put a good product on the field due to the PSL's he has. He is a rich jack ass but jack ass none the less. Steelers are my enemies so Packers all the way.   It's all bitterness like Jim bob said.  Almost as bitter as I would be if Baltimore were playing.

Freddy they're wearing cheese on their head because their from Green Bay, Wisconsin, a state that makes a lot of cheese.  I know you dont care but thought that if you ever see a cheddar from Wisconsin, USA you might want to give it a try.  Not the best but still nice.

If the Vikings had gotten through, then it would have been one sex offender QB v. another sex offender QB.

Frankly, I couldn't care less about the game or who wins it. Once you get above high-school football, it's all steroids and gambling anyhow. I think it's hilarious that it's going to be in Dallas, where last I heard all the grounds around the stadium were covered with huge chunks of ice.

My favorite ever SuperBowl was the one preceeded by our home victory over Aston Villa the year of the Great Escape. I couldn't tell you which two teams played in the pointy football championship later in the day at the Super Bowl Party I attended, but the wife and I watched it while wearing our Fulham gear.

Speaking of which, I will be hosting a small Super Bowl Party -- the band will be working on some new numbers, drinking and enjoying the commercials.

two tough QB's, i feel it will come down to who can get to opposing QB and who can contain them, Steelers look the more fluid and tougher defense in that respect.

Steelers by 7

Don't know much about the game but anyone who can arrange to get a bunch of fudge packers and car stealers into the same stadium deserves an audience lol.

Can not wait for this Stupid Bowl to be played and get out of town...way too much over-hype silliness, parties, douchery here in town.  Add the record weather (snow, ice, & freezing temps) we're having added to the mix and it's been a miserable week - well except for the 1-0 on Wednesday!

Hatter, thank you for the idea...I'll be wearing my Fulham shirt on Sunday - can't wait.

Mrs. Mo (duffbeer) - I've been a supporter of the Browns since around 86 (a long story that involves Nintendo & Tecmo Bowl).  My apologies to you & the long suffering fanbase of Cleveland; I feel as though I'm their jinx cause after a couple of AFC Championship games, it's been downhill ever since!

Watched a proper game without all the helmets and the padding last night, twice as rough, twice as tough, England v Wales RFU

Oh, it's all good Steve.  Why just yesterdday the Cavs tied the all time NBA record for most consecutive losses.  There's more than one way to crack the record books.

I was/am a Giants Fan and have been since Sam Huff, Y.A. and Co were playing back in the old Yankee Stadium. I hated the Packers then and still do, I don't like the Steelers much either.

For the last 10-12 years I am a Fulham Fan first and foremost, and I will be for the rest of my days.

Prediction Steelers 21 Packers 17

Fulham 1 Villa 1

I only care about the second result.

I'm drawn to the Packers...(mostly because they have cheese on their heads and they'll have white shirts tomorrow).

How long is it likely to go on - 3 hours?

4 hours+ easily, of which about a grand total of 18 minutes or so is actually action  :029:

Got to like Green Bay, smallest market but arguably the most tradition.  Only team that is owned by the fans.  Better beer than Pittsburg.  And I cannot stand Ben Roethesberger the rapist.  Lucky is not in prison.

Go Pack.

I ask this as a serious question. Why do Americans enjoy horrendous renditions of "the Star-spangled Banner"? I thought Christina Wotsit took it to a new low last night with a truly horrible screaming, tuneless performance. I couldn't make out whether the tears in the eyes of those tough players were tears of pride, or of pain.

She's an artist SS, she needs to be true to her own interpretation and vision of the national anthem.  Including changing the words as she see's fit.

The Tim and Bob Show would have been happy to perform a classy acapella version in four-part harmony that would have had everyone in tears [in a good way], but would they ask us? Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!  :035: :035:

Would be better if Fulham asked y'all to perform "Play that Funky Music Whites Boy".  That I would like to hear.

This thread is now officially Fulham related

She was terrible, and she has been properly pilloried for it in the press.
