So is Josh King. He's played in both friendlies as well, and played well according to the reports. Is Josh King maybe going to get some first team football this season? I'd prefer to loan him to the Championship tbf.

Im really looking forward to seeimg him in the friendlies tbh. Hope he gets some decent minutes and storms it. But inclined to agree a champ or league 1 loan is probably best for his development unless he really is the next top level cm wonderkid already ready for the top flight. Hes very slight so youd think hed get bossed about abit by grown ass men

Before any talk of Loans or first team football - give him a long contract so when he does blossom we don't get messed around by Liverpool for the umpteenth time.

Didnt we just sign him to a Pro contract, no idea how long youre allowed offer them at that age admittedly

Is it two years by default or am I making that up?

He'd be brilliant to be honest. Versatile too. But one I feel is likely out of reach.

Very decent option at the right price. Very versatile. I'd say somewhere on a par with Chalobah. 3 years older but less injury prone I believe. Like Chalobah if we could pick him up for around the £25m mark a good option. Played much more at full back however last season but looked like he did very well.

Not sure about that, he's missed way more games than Chalobah has due to injury

In fairness, in the past couple of seasons he only missed six games due to injury. The season before that, however, he missed 51 games due to a tendon injury.

On the other hand, Chalobah missed 32 games in the past two seasons due to injury.

Yeah forgot he had quite a few injuries a few seasons ago but yeah looked okay last few. Just add either to our sick note strategy this summer!

Depending on age but yes seems so for King who's 16 - Asked Chat GPT and it said:

"In the Premier League, the longest contract that a club can offer to academy players for their first professional contract is three years. This rule applies to players who are aged 17 or 18 at the time of signing. For players under the age of 17, the maximum contract length is two years. This is in accordance with the rules set by the Football Association and the Premier League to protect young players and ensure they are not tied to long-term contracts at an early stage in their careers."

itombomb

King had already turned 17 when he signed his pro contract.

The big Q is how long he signed for, and hopefully Sess is having a word in his ear!

Well spotted - 17 by a couple of weeks, perhaps that was deliberate and we tied him to 3 we can but hope. So, interesting to know wether he signed a 2 or 3 year deal with us, cant see it written anywhere

Indeed, Gomez has been more reliable than ESR or Sessegnon in the last couple of years, but perhaps whilst those two were worth the risk for various reasons, we've now exhausted our entire injury risk tolerance such that we can't afford to have any more with that history/profile in the squad.

It's something to be cautious with, but let's not forget that we bought adama and Jimenez in at a point when they weren't playing or hadn't played consistently for a while... perhaps under Marco as a man manager and with the medical team we've got we've turned a corner.

Gomez would be great but they would want a premium to let him go when we are already needing to stretch the budget to fill all our spots and also doubtful he would want to come to Fulham

noone knows what our budget is? It must be comfortably more than £100m, because we're spending £27m on ESR, are in for Andre at £25 and potentially Mctominay too at £30m and still need to bring in a RCB at the minimum and probably a LW too, and have been linked with defenders around the £20m bracket.

My comment previously, just to be clear, wasn't on not being able to afford Gomez. Supposedly, he's on around £85k per week. I just think he'd likely attract clubs that would likely push us away ie CL outfits. As I believe Hove said, no harm in looking up and being ambitious, but there's always a ceiling.

Hammers apparently are signing Fullkrug according to sky sports. Good signing that is.

Stoneleigh Loyalist

What is this rumour about Newcastle having hijacked our ESR signing?

Probably a troll mate. I'll eat my hat if a guy that's said to have signed papers, had his medical which was spotted at our training ground, then pictured going to the airport to Portugal to meet up with the team. Just a matter of the PR team lining up timings for announcement as far as I can see.

Tend to agree premier league will suit him.

Versatile, and Physically Strong ... ticks a lot of boxes - especially for a Marco Silva side. Would not be suprised if this picks up a bit. Hugely ambitious mind, but ESR was ambitious. If L'Pool genuinely want him off the books, we will be there or there abouts. Believe he is London born (through the Charlton academy) as well.

itombomb

Gomez's versatility is great, but Chalobah is a better, bigger and younger CB.

Fullkrug is a great signing if the price is right. He'll score more PL goals for West Ham than any striker has done in a long time. But if it is £25-30m then it is a gamble.
