What is this rumour about Newcastle having hijacked our ESR signing?

Probably a troll mate. I'll eat my hat if a guy that's said to have signed papers, had his medical which was spotted at our training ground, then pictured going to the airport to Portugal to meet up with the team. Just a matter of the PR team lining up timings for announcement as far as I can see.

Exactly this happened a few years ago now, even had his photo on the website and announced then signed for Man City, name escapes me at present

Don't know where you saw that, but I can't see it anywhere. Even on twitter which is rumour mill central, the only things I can see if Newcastle fans thinking they should've gone for him.. but no mention of the deal being hijacked.

yep, my feelings on him are well known, but he did his signiture 'here we go' tweet, which, used to be the staple that if he said it, it means the agent has told him papers are signed so its a go.....I've noticed over the last few windows he's been jumping on that line to plug it early, and a few times (Caicedo was an example, now deleted) its backfired.....

In fairness, it was merely one person saying he saw something about Newcastle hijacking it, and another saying, weirder things have happened after I said about all the reported things, including what you just quoted.

I'm probably in minority here, but I wouldn't like Chalobah, especially at the prices that are quoted. For around 15 million maybe, more than that, I'd steer clear.

As for Gomez vs Chalobah, I personaly believe Gomez is better in more or less every aspect of the game. Imo the only thing Chalobah has over Gomez is age.
