Yep. In relation to Jay's personal crusade to prove that some players become available more cheaply at the end of the window, I will let him have this one

Very generous of you  :claping20hands:

Will you now agree that MS:-
Does not want to give preference to players who are available for the preseason?
FFC do have an International scouting network
FFC do want to reduce the average age and that MS has a plan to give opportunities to Academy players
Knows and accepts that some deals will always be last minute
It could be better, but it's not a fantasy:

Quote from: SerbianLad on August 30, 2024, 10:34:48 AMRe Ward-Prowse or any other potential midfielder: Marco clearly stated that it's going to be only one more player in unless we sell someone(in that case he said it would be a one in one out situation, on top of that winger of course). On top of that, midfield is where we have most depth probably, as we have at least three players that can play in each position, and in the 8 role where Ward-Prowse would probably fit in best, we have 6 players, potentialy 7 if you count Iwobi (or even 8 if Pajaziti stays). My guess is that either the rumour isn't true, or we are negotiating in advance, in case an offer we can't refuse comes in for one of our wingers.

Re the new striker rumour: it only makes sense if Stansfield is indeed going.

Re Stansfield to Birmingham: if they up their offer to 15 + 5 in addons and a sell-on fee I'd take it.
Isn't Mbabu supposed to be on the verge of leaving?  Anyone have a clue about what is happening with Vinicius?

I'd like more but I think 10m+5m addons around promotion within 2 years and a hefty sell on fee (30% +) would probably be doable. If he goes in the future then for at least £20m we'd earn another £6m likely taking the fee to over £21m all in.

Ciao Carlos, never warmed to his mad, headbutting, running forearm to the back irrationality. Loose cannon but scored some helpful goals along the way for us.

2.5m euros + 600k laon fee from gala in his time here, all in all a fairly minor loss with some use of the player who helped played a small part in establishing ourselves back in the prem in our first year up. Glad to free up the wages and move on.

Hopefully wrong but predict our window is closed.  ::bump::

I don't think Marco counts Vini or Mbabu as squad members, so that would make no difference to our potential incomings, I'd assume.

Probably just a rehash, did someone above say Lille have ruled out the move? Must say I'm filing this one under pie in the sky, but don't ask dont get. Won't be the only iron in the fire but can't help asking.

Zaha to lyon nearly complete. Ernest on the move? Think the late move for him out the blue certainly signals some exit at lyon

Do you think that TK has an "I AM STUPID" hat to wear

We have a long history of signing dud strikers - Steve Marlet for instance

How stupid would TK look if we passed on JS's potential, if he then developed into the bees-knees, for a fee that would rightly be described as loose change at his dinning table

We complain when Liverpool and Celtic hijack players for a pittance but you are happy to sell players who show potential.

It makes no sense.

It makes no sense.

But equally we could keep him, he never blooms into a PL striker and we sell him to Stoke for £3m in two years time? Potential in football is a gamble based on opinion and so many times we've seen the alleged next biggest thing fade into anonymity within 3-5 years, and the club would be silly not to consider an 8 figure sum for a player that has garnered relatively limited interest even from the second tier after scoring 13 goals there last season. Not sure how a history of signing dud strikers under a different regime matters at all, you could point to how shrewd we've been in the last few windows pointing to the fact that the club are quite good at identifying talent and associated prices at the moment?

@jolslover

10m + sell on/buy back clause would be good biso for Stanno

I would love Richarlison and covers two birds with one stone as can play as striker and winger

Sancho would be a good shout as a winger. Although suspect he is way above us
Would still have Sterling

It makes no sense.

Such transfer decisions always carry risk either way

I've stated I'm only happy with it *IF* we bring in a good-quality strike option to replace him. I've already said that I think he's earned the right to his chance, but woukd accept a scenario where there's a quality option available and we therefore cash in on a prospect who could just as easily be a bust at the top level as he could be a success.

All clubs have stories where they let younger players go because they weren't starters and they came good later, many also of instances where they sold decent young players for high prices that amounted to nothing. It happens and there's always a risk taken.

I'd like Jay to get his chance but if, and its. a big if, another option came up that looked more likely to contribute right now then I'd be alright with it is all assuming that those funds go to bettering us now. It's all a game of ifs... If we signed a player for example that could contribute more than Jay now..it could legitimately challenge Muniz up top and say we end up in a world where we then flirt with Europe for example - we might then be in a great position financially and in league standings to attract a player with a ceiling even higher than Stansfields, Who knows how it plays out.

Quote from: colinwhite on August 30, 2024, 10:26:11 AMI like jay Stansfield but I think hes a mile off premier league standard at this point in his career.

I don't think that's true. He's 21 and if you take Marco at his word he could just be about to have his break out season in the PL and for a team that many on here believe are mid table to top 10 in terms of quality.

If he does breakthrough and do well, then he's exactly on track for where he should be.

Just said on Wireless that Fulham have turned down £10m bid from Birmingham for Jay Stansfield.

Yup there's absolutely a world where Jay establishes himself as a premier league player, and I'm here for giving him his shot, especially if the Manager backs him which he seems to.

Could go either way of course.

Edit - If true that we've turned it down then that's that (unless they raise it in the next couple hrs of course) ...seems possible we may have looked about at the options and aren't seeing anything available in time. So on we move.

think we should go for 15M sell on clause and buy-back clause

Twig

All these experts wanting to sell Jay to Birmingham should pause and think about what the player might want, he's under contract with an established Premier League club. Do you really think he would want to go to a 3rd division club? Frankly you can debate what offer might or might not be sufficient and whether or not he is potentially Prem standard but if he wants to stay and fight for his place surely that his prerogative?

This is real life not some football manager game.
