A lot of hearts ruling over heads I reckon with Stansfield.
He gives me slight Cauley Woodrow vibes. Technically good and a good finisher but not enough flair, skill or raw pace to scare premier league full backs and not enough of a presence to play through the middle.

He'll have a good career but I just don't see it in the premier league.

Good luck to him if he goes. Seems a good lad

Quote from: BestOfBrede on August 30, 2024, 08:15:25 PMI don't believe any of these rumours - it's last day testicles!

If we sell Stansfield for a measly 10m after Marco saying he's a Fulham player that he intends to use, then how can we ever believe another word he says!In Marco we trust.

I'm already irked that he chased Andre for so long, just to go for Berge? Not that I don't think Berg can do a good for us.

I don't know and will wait to see, in the morning, what we've done or not done, before I can make up my mind!

Berge over Andre was a good move IMO. I can't blame them for that and I think he'll be really good for us. Even if Andre turns out to be a stud, it's a big gamble and we made the percentage call. With the money involved in the game these days, coupled with FFP restrictions, it was a borderline no-brainer to go for SB instead.

Surlyc

While I think going to L1 is a terrible idea for Jay, selling him for 10m, plus a 15m buy back and 50% of profit on future transfer, would not be a bad deal for us.

My concern is that we only have 23 first team players anyway. Does this mean Vinicius is staying as our 3rd choice striker?

Drewry66

If Jay does go this striker has to be completely left field as literally not seen a single rumour about who we might be going for. Would just seem very strange that anyone decent is available at this point but pretty intriguing what might be happening behind the scenes. Wasn't one of those young Turkish lads rumoured a month or two ago a striker?

Anything is possible still!

Guy goes into the doctor's.
"Doc, I've got a cricket ball stuck up my backside
"How's that?"
"Don't you start"

Craven Mad

In fairness to Jay, we all criticise our youth players (like Fabio) for leaving us as 'they'll get no minutes at [Liverpool] and they're best getting time on the pitch now so they can develop'.

Jay, maybe, just wants to get playing time and isn't satisfied being a bit-part player anymore. He's young and ambitious and I definitely don't begrudge him wanting to play.

I totally respect his ambition to be a starter, but I do hope we tag on a hell of a lot of well-on clauses if we do sell him!

Super Mick

So unless we can sign 2 players in the next hour or, Stanno isnt going anywhere?

But, then why did Silva state that "HE (Jay) is 100% a Fulham player and will be used this season"!

Maybe just me, but I feel slightly let down and hope that Silva comes out and explains why this was allowed - if indeed it happens?

Quote from: demeant0r on August 30, 2024, 08:50:48 PMWhy are we never able to keep our academy players? This isn't Man City or Chelsea we're talking about, it's a League One team who were absolutely woeful last season.

We can keep him if we want to

It's a matter of if we want to and if we think the deals worth taking if we get another target we think is a better option

I just don't understand this. Marco stated he has plans for Jay this season so if we're selling despite Marco's wishes then I've no idea what we're doing.
Maybe Jay asked to go? Perhaps he wants to play week in week out

Yep.exactly. he is 3rd choice in all the positions he can play. A shame he won't develop with us tho I have my doubts, a fair deal for all. But Jay won't go if 2e don't sign anyone to be honest
I'd argue he's even 4th choice in two(or possibly even 3) of  the 4 positions he could play in.
Strikers-Muniz/Raul/Stansfield
AM-ESR/Andreas/Iwobi/Stansfield
RW-Adama/Wilson/Iwobi/Stansfield
LW-Iwobi/ESR/Stansfield(possibly even Traore is ahead of him). No chance he plays serious minutes in the PL. Maybe last 15-20 minutes at most, if we have a comfortable lead or are chasing a goal. I'd rather he stayed (or we got more money), but realisticaly he won't be a big loss, especially for this season.

He also said that not everything was 100% and if any left, he expects replacements. I think any linking from journalists on Stands move to Nuamah can be discarded at hand and put on the list of journos who just make it up as they go. We know a wide man was required before Stans leaving speculation and SIlva explicitly said if players leave, they need to be replaced.

If what Marco said yesterday was true, then yes.

He didn't - he said 'almost' 100% certain

This Nuamah link is bizarre - Nizaar Kinsella at BBC Sport and Adam Leventhal at the Athletic both saying we're working on a deal

The thing is, Lyon only signed him permanently last month for about £25m, after a season there on loan. The fee going around now is £15m ish

I know they've had terrible financial trouble but they've spent a fortune in this window - have they just made an absolute balls-up of it? That they have to take a £10m loss on a big new signing?

Their owner is doing dodgy stuff with finances - they signed a midfield from forest for a record fee and then loaned to Everton who the owner is buying. The club they bought him off is owned by the same guy, got relegated. Proper dodge

I agree with what what you say FFC1987, but, just hope if this happens then he's certain of replacements. I'm not sure with only 1.5hrs left!

And then I would hope we have a bloody good sell on clause in the deal!

As someone said on this forum, they demanded a similar fee for Cherki, so it's possible that they need that kind of money urgently, and because Cherki didn't want to go, they had to sell someone else, even if it's at a loss.

Oh the Palace guy? That does explain everything. In that case surely the smart money is on Everton signing him?

This stuff is so rotten. The Savinho/City deal and Washington/Chelsea transfers are outrageous
