What's a WUM.... I'm in total agreement....Mr khan Jnr should be picking the team and doing training by zoom.... Mr Silva has yet to prove himself... he's made some terrible decisions in signing so called player's like Mr Smith Rowe & Mr Palhinha....no... it's all going to end badly...mark my word or is it word's

Quote from: cookieg on October 10, 2024, 05:17:47 PMSurely everybody knows now that the good players are signed by the manager and the crap ones are down to TK.

That old trope.

The old ones are the best Twig. Or maybe not.....

RaySmith

For me, the main thing is that the Khan family supplies the money to buy these top players.

I know we've made mistakes in the past, but the club, whoever is involved, is obviously making more astute decisions regarding getting the right players in -
and recent acquisitions have been outstanding: top players, who really improve and fit into the team, and some great deals.

While the Kham appointed manager, seems to know how to get the best out of players, and get them working together as a team.

In all my time on this forum, you have a habit of posting stuff in an aim to wind people up, or cause trouble when there is a period of calm around the club.

Marco is doing great, yes, he's probably the club's biggest asset right now, but Tony has handed a lot of the recruitment responsibility to him, which was a requirement when he signed his new contract with us.

Tony, who is "Not bad for a Yank huh?!?!?!" merely signs players off now, if the price is right.

If anything, Tony sits his arse out in the US now, driving his AEW franchise, with little or no involvement.

Well if that's the case I'm just curious who it was then that came up with the idea of signing Marco and getting him to put pen to paper in the first place ?

Most likely Tony's dad, Shahid, who actually owns the club and is a self made and savvy businessman. But you know that.

For what it's worth, it was TK's birthday yesterday and the club didn't tweet a happy birthday message for the first time since he's been involved with the club in an official capacity (albeit they did post on Instagram). Maybe you could read too much into the lack of birthday wishes from the official account but it is intriguing nonetheless

Having openly apologised for his mistakes in one transfer window and thereafter owning it, Tony Khan has been superb in his recruitment, apart from Sander Berg of whom we should have signed Scott McTominay for the same money. But compare Fulham's signings to Sir Jim Ratcliffe's intervention at Man.U, with hapless additions, De Ligt, Ugarde and Zirkzee, none of whom are good enough for the first team.

Funny when posting this originally i had no idea it was Tony's birthday, that makes it just that little bit more special

God works in wondrous ways

We are all aware that the Khans struggled at the beginning, we were a club in decline when they inherited it, it was a rough and tumble time BUT I've enjoyed every minute of it

You learn from your mistakes as they say and if it offends someone that I'm simply complimenting them on the job they are currently doing then I'd say that they have deeper underlying issues

Long may it continue

I totally agree with you, except McTominay absolutely did not want to come here.

Give Berg time. There was a lot of criticism of Muniz, Raul, Traore and Lukic

Absolutely!

He was solid against Man City, no complaints from me

He will only get better

Most likely Tony's dad, Shahid, who actually owns the club and is a self made and savvy businessman. But you know that.
Yeah and Tony's his son that he trusts and obviously respects so not sure exactly
What you're getting at ?

"The apple doesn't fall far from the tree" as they say

I feel like a lot of people have issues with people being fortunate enough to inherit wealth from they're family, it doesn't always work out but I certainly wouldn't hold that against them if they are hard workers and respect what they have

Also im pretty sure that Tony knows more about football then Shahid does

Quote from: FFC1987 on October 11, 2024, 09:30:39 AMI think the post perhaps rubs people the wrong way because it somehow suggests TK doesn't ever get praise? If you look at the summer silly season towards the end, lots of posters congratulated the teams recruitment. Maybe that wasn't your point Perry, but I think that's why some have reacted. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it. Bit on the nose with the last sentence perhaps, but otherwise, praising a person that's seemingly an important cog in the wheel of the business, considering where we are now, seems like a sensible thing to do. Could be a little early to do too much and the wheels come off, (hope not and I dont think it will) but who knows.

I always find some of these discussions a tad strange though. TK has historically got a lot wrong especially in the early days. No point bringing up examples, we all know them and our decline was self evident, but also, not only down to TK, but just because he's come up roses now, doesn't offset the mistakes so if posts are more trying to say 'its good now, so the noise earlier was unwarranted and only because he's american...' then I'm not with you. He deserves the criticism for the mistakes, as much as he deserves the praise for the successes.
And im sure he'd take it as a man and willingly accept that criticism

Research says "the Average DOF comes from a football background, doesn't get the budget they need and then only gets 40% of transfers correct". TK got about 33% correct in 2018/19, greater than 40% correct before Marco and greater than 66% correct after Marco. TK doesn't come from football, always gets the required budget (shown to contribute around 76% of a DOFs success) and gets more than 50% of transfer correct, surely we should we should be grateful to TK.

Oh, I have no issue with that dynamic, I always found it weird when people hated those who had 'privileged' upbringings, as if A) it didn't come with its own issues, or life in general isn't hard regardless (drug addition, domestic abuse, broken homes, assault of various types happens regardless), and B) everyone genuinely is aspiring to have the same freedoms, so it seems slightly counterproductive to hate on the thing everyone wants.. its fundamentally petit and borne out of jealousy.

That being said, the decision to buy the club, the money that has gone into the club, that's all Shads, he bears the core responsibility and has taken the responsibility in every major way, financially, legally, etc..

Yet you hardly heat anything from shahid unless it needs to he said, and for the most part it always seems understated and considered.

Tony came in, got given a position he wasn't qualified, learned the ropes slowly, messed up a lot, threw insults at fans, and when it comes to the club pays less and less attention to it and the stuff that goes on with it, beyond it seems taking credit for stuff which is exciting.

He posts copy and paste generic responses after every match, prefers wrestling and on transfer deadline day was doing a wrestling PR stunt in the US a few windows ago.

You can see shad take a step back and watch Tony from time to time to see what's going on.. e.g. Tony did a PR stunt by going into the wrestling ring and getting slammed and wore a kneck brace of some sort... and you could tell it was all for show and in one video shahid was clearly looking at Tony thinking 'this kid..'..

RaySmith

If they weren't very wealthy wouldn't be able to own Fulham.

Obviously got a number of other business interests - ones that make a good profit!
Other sporting interests too, with American Football and, Tony has his wrestling.

But presumably they delegate the main running of Fulham, but they, or one of them, has to sign of payments presumably; but  fans can't really criticize them as owners, imo.
But fans do criticize them, of course,  Tony particularly gets abuse, as he has a designated role in the running of the club.
But  the arrangement sems to work well as far as I can see, especially now, with fans happy with signings and what's happening on the pitch, and with the manager.

What makes you say he "always gets the required budget"?
Think by most calculations we had room to spend a fair bit more under FFP recently.

Not just that but this is what I said in my lengthy post earlier. This basically negates any wrong doing previously as its looking good now, which is what I think, rubbed people the wrong way. This ost almost reads like 'he was given ample budget, often and some, yet still managed to get us relegated a few times.'....

I would imagine there are somewhere around 70-80 of the 92 professional clubs in the country that would bite your arm off to have the Khans in charge of their club.

They got things wrong to begin with, have learned quickly and we are a stronger club now than we were when they took over. That's success.

We are lucky to have em. :Khan_you_fix_it:
