Anyone notice the Brighton fixture video seemed to show pretty much Palinha in the video....last time we did something like that, Willian signed a few weeks later....wonder if our social media team are giving us a sneaky nod....

Or wishful thinking  :slap:

Being reported in the Standard that we have turned down £26 mil +£6mil add ons for Muniz.

If we want to be like Brighton, in terms of stability, we should be selling our young players before their prime but not at this ridiculous price. Add 35m and that would be realistic.

If Muniz has a good season I reckon we could get double that this time next year.

Not as much on Cardoso but looks pretty classy from the clip reels. Looks technically very good and looks big as well. Not as prolific as Pepi with 17 in 33 at just over a goal every other game but 10 assists as well which is very impressive. Would probably be a lot cheaper and still only 23.

Sounds like Pepi is highly unlikely. Not long ago signed a contract until 2030 and all reports and fan comments seem to say they'd want £40 or £50m and we're around the £25m mark. Sounds like he'd start for PSV next year as well and no guarantees for us. You'd say Cardoso is far more likely then. Clips below...looks like he has something about him at at potentially less than £20m could be a good shout:

I wouldn't accept £26m but if we could negotiate it up to say £35m, yes. There were people on here last year saying exactly the same thing, if he has a good season next year... etc. If he has a bad season next year, he probably loses a lot of value and just gets badged as an average-at-best 24/25 year old.

Interesting the club is clearly in for a marquee striker who would expect to start. I wonder what this means for Raul and Muniz. Can't see how to keep three happy for one spot when we play with a lone striker.

Don't think they are mate. Think they are looking for someone young around £20m who they expect to seriously compete with the other two but not expect to start. For a young striker who knows Raul is prob off in a year a fair shout. If they perform well they could push Raul to 3rd choice if they and Muniz were playing brilliantly and if so great! Think Pepi would be a harder sell with the World cup next year as he'd want to start most games but someone like Cardoso rumoured or mini Mitro from Millwall could well be that kind of mould and see it as their ticket to the prem. if we got Pepi I you'd expect him to be seriously pushing Raul/Muniz and if so great.

If we can pick up someone young for £20m and Raul gets pushed to 3rd choice that's ideal for me and means it's been a huge success as can just let him go next year.

Yes please. Rumoured a week or two ago. Robinson needs to have a word.

Not watched any games but superb scoring record when he's played although the Dutch league is a lot easier of course. Looks quick, strong, skilful and a brilliant finisher with all types of finish from the clips videos. Stats are superb pretty much brilliant all round for goals, assists, passing carries and take ons. Only 22. Believe injuries a slight concern but anything around £20m to £25m looks like a great option. Would be exciting I reckon.

Decent player but missed 4 months or so with a knee injury last season

Have watched Pepi a fair bit when he has played fur the US. Not sure he has the quality for the Prem.

I'm not sure this adds up though. I'd say these players would be looking to be starters, I'd be surprised if we looked at spending over £20m on someone who isn't seen as going into the first team. Will be hard to keep them all happy. Although we might think Raul being third choice makes sense I doubt he would, and on big wages it wouldn't make a lot of sense.

They must have some sort of plan in place. But not many clubs playing a lone striker would have three options like this I think.

We just turned down a £32m bid for Muniz so don't think a £20m youngster is going to expect to start if he comes in. We do however want to get someone who believes he can and who has the quality to step up when required (unlike Vinicius). £20m on a young striker is peanuts and if he was pure gold expecting to start at 22 or 23 he'd be off to a top 6 club for £60m. I wouldn't be surprised if the club would love to get someone for £20m who can push Raul out and fight for it with Muniz. If so and they push Raul to third as I say great as if Muniz resigns that's our strikers sorted for the next 5 years or we get a massive fee. Sorry for Raul but tgat would be the ideal situation. If they are not good enough Raul carries on and we have a year to improve them. Win, win all round.  Yes we've paid a lot for Rauls wages but next to no fee and it is the insurance we need. End of the season absolutely stuffed us when Muniz got injured. We need 3 very good options and less than £15 to £20m is highly unlikely to get that.

Should be able to outcompete Sunderland and Leeds for targets you'd think.

Can't say I watch Ligue 1 or a load of Senegal games, but he looks like a box to box player from the highlights.

Looks like good carry and take on stats and wins a lot of fouls. Doesn't pass much. Defensive stats as a 8 look pretty alarming however.

I don't necessarily believe any of these links but if indeed we are in for anyone at £20m (or more) they're going to be one of top 10 most expensive signings of all time, so not realistically coming in as a rotation or development player.

Look at the stick/expectations the fans have had for Berge at approx £25m - can you imagine the uproar if he hadn't broken into the starting XI yet?

Plenty of promising teenagers around for sub £20m. On the development side we're looking for the next Mitrovic, not the next Messi.

Calvin Bassey fits your profile almost perfectly. He ended up being pushed to starter early and on the right due to injuries and then managed to make the left spot his when Ream picked up an injury.

He also cost more than is being mooted by you here.

Bassey locked down his place in the starting XI within a month of signing and won POTS in his second season. Which surely reinforces my point about the expectations for a £25m signing. Are you suggesting he was brought in as a backup or rotation player, and would have remained that were it not for the injuries to other players? I can't disprove that but personally don't agree.
