This is a tough one for me. I usually only see Harvey Elliot play when he comes on as a late substitute for Liverpool. He has a lot of offensive talent and, similar to the ESR transfer, is a young, talented player whom we could potentially build around.

Over the years, he's made some questionable decisions. Really showcasing his immaturity as a teenager in the spotlight. I wasn't pleased with how he left us (but that's business I suppose). Remember when he ripped on Harry Kane? And wasn't there some scandal about him selling his Fulham shirt on eBay? Anyways, I am guessing he has probably grown up since then.

I think that would be tempting given his ability and age.

If any truth in Elliot...

He's done well at the U21 s by all accounts but not exactly prem standard. Watched him for Liverpool end of the season and I may be completely missing something but just doesn't seem like a £40m player to me. They lost most of those games and he looked average to me. Doesn't have any pace and dynamism we so badly need and cant defend. Plays more 10 and right side from what I've seen where we already have ESR as a huge money signing, King to come through and Adama and Wilson right. We need an 8 and just not sure he is good enough defensively or the profile we need. Im actually more exited about what King could be at 22 and we won't have him here at 22 if he doesn't play this year so surely Elliot would block that.

We might be able to get him for £32m rather than £40m vs Brighton but if we do we don't get the £8m we would have got if Brighton bought him that we could use on another signing.

Maybe I'm completely mad and he'll prob be a superstar for Brighton but honestly I'm just not that interested in signing him and nothing to do with the history. He'd also want to be off for bigger things again in two years if he did do well but suppose tgat is the same with any young player.

Would happily take zinchenko and nelson for 18-20m total. Would prefer if Nelson was on loan with option if he stays fit, if arsenal are that keen to help get it over the line.

Or maybe we can somehow even convince them to structure a deal like lenos....5m up front 5m in bonuses for amount of games for us

Think Klopp saw Elliott as an undisciplined player who he really could only put on as an impact sub, because he couldn't trust him to carry out what he required.
You get players who have skills but are too maverick for managers. A bit like Bullard was for Hodgson.
