If we are competing with Leipzig it could be a hard sell.

Leipzig didn't qualify for any European cups this season and have been stagnating. Think we should be able to compete on a somewhat even level.

Quote from: General on June 27, 2025, 08:52:37 AMIt's amazing the alternative narratives fans can come up with and push, despite rarely having genuine insights on players or clubs preferences, the genuine financial position of the club and those who take decisions...

In particular at this moment in time saying the club will/should sell Muniz (not everyone is saying this admittedly)..

Firstly muniz isn't in his prime, so those interested in cash money aren't thinking properly. You tend to keep assets that you know will appreciate in value over time.

If some say - let's sell him for £30m when we all acknowledge he could be worth £50m-£60m then you're basically selling yourself short or up s**t creek without a paddle.

Why would you knowingly miss out on an extra potential 100% of upside, when all you need to do is be patient.

It's very short term and unhealthy thinking.. kinda desperate. Which the club aren't.

Don't forget the rise in valuation is based on improved performances on the pitch, which is great for the club in terms of points, league positions and revenues, but could see us get into Europe, where £30m would make a lot less difference than £60m.

It's funny how there have been no sounds out of anyone at the club saying they want Muniz gone, if anything the complete opposite, shown in practice by Muniz staying on at the club and succeeding despite his poor Middlesbrough loan.

And even the more mainstream press like SSN, who are usually first to jump on a rumour and inflate it have said that fulham have no intention of selling Muniz..

https://www.skysports.com/football/live-blog/11095/13279313/fulham-transfers-latest-news-rumours-and-gossip-live-updates-goals-and-highlights?postid=9790233#liveblog-body

Now, I know, sometimes things change.. and Marco has wanted players to stay before who've left. So we're not ruling anything out per se, but mitrovic was forcing through his move and we were getting good value for him.. similarly with Palhinha.

But Muniz isn't going for what he's worth, and by a long way, and he's not going to a top European team, or to a club that's paying him obscene amounts, or even a better place to live with a better setup re coach/manager that believe in him and can help him develop.

What makes you think that Muniz will reach "his prime". This may well be his prime. He may not have the all round ability to be first choice. There's no guarantee that he will be a £50-60m player in 2/3 years. No player is unsellable and if Marco thinks that the money on offer is good and he knows who he can replace him with then so be it.

There are too many uncertainties over any player. The only thing which is certain is that Leeds are interested in him and if Marco feels he can go he goes.

OK, good question. Over time I think we've seen motivation, passion and drive to improve exponentially.

1. He came to a new league without speaking the language at a very young age and struggled to adapt, but has learned the language and adapted to the culture.

2. He's overcome adversity, focused and improved himself. He went on loan to boro and it was a success, in a lower league. He wasn't a starter and hardly scored for them. He's since become a noteworthy contributor, still at a young age, for a team in the top league.

3. He's not been consistent, but what he has shown when he has done so has been technically very competent. Great strikers are consistently doing the same thing of scoring goals and making a difference over time. This means he's got room to improve. Coupled with overcoming adversity and becoming more focused means he has a tolerance and appetite for doing so and improving, so with that and his age still being young, I expect to see him to build consistency.

4. Raw talent. He goes on streaks and is a confidence player it seems, but when he's on form he's shown his ability to perform at the highest levels in the PL. This is not only our reference point for him, but his own for himself and a building block of understanding/awareness that he is more than capable as not only succeeding, but thriving in this league. Player of the month gong, 9 goals in almost successive games, and match winning contributions against top players and teams (e.g. Chelsea, Liverpool etc), show he can have the intelligence, awareness, technique and finishing ability to succeed.

5. Time. He's young and with time on his side and having proven the above he has time to adapt, strengthen his weaknesses and fine tune his overall game. Meanwhile his manager and team mates also will be getting to know him better, both in terms of playing style and as a person. This acts as a double positive. People tend to do better when they feel valued/understood  firstly. Secondly players need time to develop an understanding of one another. Doing so over time, especially with players who get on with each other, tends to improve performance and outcomes. Muniz also happens to be a lovely guy who people like.

6) I think he believes he can, and wants to be a full Brazil international, and having had a blueprint in front of him laid out and set as an example by Willian and Pereira means I think he can achieve that. Moreover, to sustain being a Brazil international will improve his overall quality, because he's gaining experience alongside better players (vinicious Jr, Neymar, rodyrgo etc), but also because he has to sustain and achieve a higher standard to keep his place. Something I think he's up for the challenge of.

Yeah they had a very poor season, but are well established in being a club before signing on at one of the top clubs. Konate, Keita, Szoboszlai, Nkunku, Werner, Gvardiol, Upemacano etc.

With Sesko likely outgoing, being first choice there I think would be quite an alluring option I imagine.

True but I feel the majority of those players joined when they were 18-21 rather than 23, so much earlier in their developments (I may be wrong, just going from memory). At 23 he may feel he's ready to make the Premier League step up?

That's true, 23 is still young though. He may very well be up for joining us, and sounds like we're the most active in discussions right now.

Next...

Your fascination with age is incredible.
Who cares if they 20 or 40,as long as they can run and kick a ball.
He's 28 ffs,Stanley Matthews played till he was 50.

It was when I first saw the misty towers of Craven that I realised that the long journey would never again serve as an antidote to loves misery. The gates had been shut and the people inside were no longer open for discussion. It had become a place like any other. No longer a magical place but a place of business filled with little minds and smaller brains. I turned for the last time. I was always on the turn. Waving goodbye I realised that we would buy a forward one day. Just not today. I think a tear fell from my misty eyes.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

This really is Arsenal Team B, not that I'm complaining. They're quality players.

Think Zinchenko could be a good Cairney successor.

With Nelson I assume that the club think that his injury problems are temporary, which is the big issue for me.

I think Nelson's injuries are ongoing well they have been,I would rather agree a very cheap transfer on the understanding a loan fee this season to make sure mr sicknote is allright. No one is going to take him on a big transfer at least they get another loan fee.

Quote from: Somerset Fulham on June 27, 2025, 09:26:35 AMWhy are we seemingly in the same talent pool as Leeds according to these 'journalists'?

That's what baffles me.

Think they're the highest ranked and most ambitious of the newly-promoted teams.

We along with 3-4 others are tied as the worst of the existing PL 17.

So some overlap to be expected.

Forest fans might well wonder why they're being linked with the same players as us.

I suppose so. Its not how I see it but its a fair explanation that I hadn't really considered.

I presume everything probably resets at the end of the season and the likes of West Ham, United, Spurs and Wolves will be considered better than us, despite there being no actual evidence of this happening.

Ah, you can't beat a bit of well written script, well said Lighthouse.
Guy goes into the doctor's.
"Doc, I've got a cricket ball stuck up my backside
"How's that?"
"Don't you start"

Anyway, why isn't this thread about transfers only!!!!! :slap:

According to
@TEAMtalk
🥉#FulhamFC are planning a double swoop on Arsenal with a move for Reiss Nelson & Oleksandr Zinchenko. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇺🇦

The article also says the whites are preparing a new bid for Goztepe striker Rômulo Cardoso of around £22m 🇧🇷‼️

Sounds like these three rumors are getting some traction. Would be very good for us if they go through.

Side note I hear Muniz is now fluent in English so congratulations to him.

ffcthereligion

The promise of Muniz will go down in Fulham folklore. I cannot recall a player who ever evoked such a supportive reaction in the fan base on the basis of his 'potential'.

We all had exactly the same conversation last year, it was his time to lead the line, he's worth 50m etc etc.

At what point do people say he is what he is?
