Here we go again, nothing to do with transfer rumours....Boring.😴

hopper

Thanks for the update StuinSalop, all sounds very believable.

Interesting on the ESR point and we all agree how important that would be. I just hope he has the desire and application to make it work.

For what it's worth, I'm sure we will be fine and the club has done well in recent windows, so not a 'doom and gloom merchant', but do wish we would get one or two earlier to bed in, and not take deals into the last few hours/mins of the window.

It's inside info from a senior director of the club about our entire transfer strategy this window which personally I find pretty interesting and how is that not relevant on the transfer thread? If you were waiting for actual rumours you'd be pretty bored anyway as there aren't any.

 :slap:

Carborundum

Recent posts on this thread are right to ponder the drivers for making early signings, the importance of a full pre-season.

I suppose what's notable about this summer is that we don't have any more gaps to be plugged that require a player to get up to speed quickly.  Tete was a gap plugging signing, but we've fetched him in already.

So whoever we get will probably be eased in gently, like Bassey and Berge, almost irrespective of the class they obviously have.  My first sight of Bassey was a friendly against Hoffenheim.  By half time it was clear he was going to be great for us, but still we eased him in to the season proper, much to my irritation at the time.

For the opening games, team cohesion often translates into points.  However good a footballer you are, knowing where your teammates are heading to takes time to become grooved.  I think back to an opening fixture nearly ten years ago when a reconstituted Whites played a reconstituted Newcastle on a Friday night.  Notable for us winning and an outrageous, truly astonishing bit of skill from Denis Odoi.  But otherwise it was dreadful watching two team of strangers grope their way towards something that could be described as a "move".  Premier players are a bit better than that, but we might see some disjointed opponents in the early weeks.  Hope so anyway.

So there you have it, another rambling post not about a specific rumour.  From someone who loves cricket, tennis and other sports besides but find themselves thinking about Fulham transfers irrespective.  What brainworm does this to a grown man?

Silva seems to have pushed pretty hard for ESR, so it would be a surprise if we just cut our losses like some suggest we should.

4 players with no further losses is reasonable. But that also depends on the players, if we sign Taremi, Reiss Nelson, Sterling and Ndidi (just 4 names off the top of my head that have been rumoured) I'd be pretty worried.

DM

Quote from: DM on July 06, 2025, 03:16:55 PMMarco Silva is prioritising quality over quantity this summer. There will be additions to strengthen key areas and the plan is to keep this squad together as much as possible.

@StuinSalop 👍🏻

WindyCity

Been said before, but early signings are preferable:
1). Get players in for early training, pre season, understanding of MS 'systems'
2). Acquiring players you actually want and have been targeted (even if paying a premium)

Simples

Being complacent and satisfied with our 'strong' existing squad is not what mid table, small clubs should be doing, imo.  Must always build and try to improve and upgrade.  Complacency will get you relegated.  You snooze, you lose.

So clear that the club wasn't giving up on ESR after one season...simply can't afford to.

Most rumours are complete BS and gets people worried...if any truth in Taremi you would hope it's an absolute back up option should other younger options not come off. No reliable source has verified that one as far as I am aware. We had a bid for Rômulo in verified by a reliable source and way more exciting.

Ndidi is a DM and Marco said we don't need one so highly unlikely true and no reliable source as far as I am aware. Rocco Reitz verified by a reliable source and way more exciting.

I expect most of us (not all of course) will be happy with/excited by the incomings when they come and most of them we prob won't have even heard about like other years with Fulham doing things so quietly.

For the one or two that have been verified for us having interest in so far they look pretty exciting.

Agreed it wouldn't be the best but that would still be fine. I'm in a bit of a minority of not minding buying older players with quality like Teremi.

Hope it works for ESR. I have no doubts about management and club doing their best with him, it's now down to the player.

Yeah to be fair on Teremi very good player previously. As third striker not a disaster at all if it happened as a stop gap option but clearly would much prefer Rômulo...just depends if we can win the race on that one.

Yeah, I back the club with identifying players at this point. I had never heard of players like Reitz and Romulo before and never seen them play, so I remain pretty agnostic. It's the funny thing about transfer windows, we can start to really desire unknown objects.

Also sometimes signings that seem exciting can go south, or seem underwhelming and be brilliant.

Drewry66

Speaking of Romulo this was last Wednesday where their owner said hopefully sale sorted next few days. Surely we find out one way or another early this coming week then. Looks tough as so much interest in him but at least we may know one way or another soon hopefully.

Yeah defo. Andersen and ESR most would say were the most exciting signings last year but think most would agree that actually Sess and Berge (who got a tonne of stick on here when we signed him) prob had better seasons for us overall.

End of the day we are not scouts...I've never watched Romulo or Reitz play (apart from the U21 final) so who knows but both's stats and clip reels look exciting, both sets of fans at their current clubs seem to love them and both the age profile many want. Sure Marco and our scouts have watched plenty on the players we are going for and thus far the last 3 years the signings in the main have fitted very well with what we are trying to do and have been very successful. We just need to trust in their process.

It's a discussion forum and we are discussing transfers on a transfer thread.  It is a bit ridiculous I agree when conversation on this thread becomes nothing to do with transfers but all of this is. If you aren't interested in reading/discussing things on a discussion forum and just want to see a transfer rumour posted when one comes up every other day it's pretty simple...just scroll until you see a big picture or go on to FulhamFanNews on twitter and press refresh...doing that you don't even need to be on here yawning.  ::thumb::

I don't understand the flapping. We have kept all the squad. No real significant losses.

We finished 11th. The club hierarchy do their business late. 3rd mid table finish and it's flap central amongst the podcast/YouTubers. Chill. Relax.

Also sometimes signings that seem exciting can go south, or seem underwhelming and be brilliant.

::thumb::

🎣🎣🎣. You took the bait then.🎃

So we're needing to bait people on here are we?

1). Get players in for early training, pre season, understanding of MS 'systems'
2). Acquiring players you actually want and have been targeted (even if paying a premium)

Being complacent and satisfied with our 'strong' existing squad is not what mid table, small clubs should be doing, imo.  Must always build and try to improve and upgrade.  Complacency will get you relegated.  You snooze, you lose.

Absolutely right.... The last thing we need is shopping around on bargain basement offerings with a last minute dash.
