Not much new in this, but if he wants a premier league move that is to our advantage, haven't seen any other prem clubs linked.

Quote from: Somerset Fulham on July 18, 2025, 10:57:47 PMAh, things are way less heated and nasty than they were in times gone by and I am all over that because both guys generally always do make very valid points.  I appreciate it that both have dialled it back a notch and I do rather enjoy their discussions these days.

I am also aware that not many pages back I posted directly addressing my thoughts on 'judging other users' which is what I am doing here, but hopefully both concerned are reading this in a positive way.

I think that's fair.

This question looks very promising, clearly knows how to score goals

From FFN:

"Fulham are looking at Benfica winger Karem Akturkoglu. He's an option for the other winger we are targeting."

11 goals and 9 assists last year for Benfica and he looks like a bit of a goal and assist machine through this career. Weirdly apart from goals and assists stats not incredibly impressive but they are the two most important ones of course!

https://fbref.com/en/players/f28659fb/scout/365_m2/Kerem-Akturkoglu-Scouting-Report

Benfica only bought him last year but cheap so perhaps turn a quick profit. They short on cash? If not seems a tough one to get. Clips reel looks like he is tricky with a low centre of gravity.

Interestingly he is predominantly left so would be on top of Nelson suggesting we are looking for two left wingers. Ideally the other winger would be very comfortable both sides but I suppose predominately left makes more sense on top of Nelson? If we got Nelson we'd have Iwobi and Nelson out there. Nelsons injuries and Iwobi off to Afcon still short. Right we already have Adama, Wilson, Sess and Iwobi who are all comfortable there. Perhaps two predominantly left sided then? Looks like Arturkoglu has played 38 games right in his careers as well with 7 goals and 9 assists so looks decent out there as well.

If we get Nelson the squad only needs replacements for Vini & Willian to be 'the same' as last season.

Even then, Willian was only brought in as emergency cover so maybe only third striker & we are done for this window.

Definitely going for an 8 mate and once we have them you'd expect AP may be moved on. Going for another winger on top of Nelson as above and the striker. You would hope back up GK as well.

To be fair Willian was only brought in as a replacement for Nelson in Jan, not in addition to him. They weren't at the squad at the same time. So if we get Nelson back it's same numbers as last year minus Vini. So an additional winger, if we are going for one would be what I assume would allow Godo to go out on loan which I'd like to see happen for him.

Romulo hopefully the forward.

IF we're going for another wide forward after Nelson then they HAVE to be better than everyone we already have/a definite upgrade otherwise what's the point? We already have Iwobi, Adama, Wilson, Sess, Godo, EST and King who can play out there. Add Nelson plus another then there is no point that other being even on a par with the rest as they will just get in each others way for game time.

I am not sure Arturkoglu is any better than Nelson, Wilson, Traore and Iwobi and we need to spend big on someone with a bit of magic who can make something out of nothing, player in the mood of Cunha or Eze, as we saw last season.

I honestly don't know much about him. You watched him much for any feedback? Pretty incredible goal and assist record however and that is certainly something we need from our wingers so if he could transfer that to the prem all good with me.

Yeah would love a Cunha or Eze mate but unless we unearth some unknown gem from somewhere highly unlikely of course as we don't have £60+ million to spend and as with Fofana they won't be wanting to come to us if already that highly rated I am afraid.

Based on what may I ask? Genuine question , have you watched alot of him? I dont know the player well but a G/A every 2 games across his career, similar at international and champs league level is pretty amazing for a winger albeit for 2 big clubs in less major leagues

Quote from: HV71 on July 18, 2025, 10:15:22 PMI stand in a rather strange position on the Angus vs Jay debate
Angus posted
"I do think there should be some acceptance that our strategy is more about keeping PL status ticking over from one season to the next, rather than a long-term growth like theirs. If you think that sounds negative then stand behind it and explain why it's better, but I don't think it can reasonably be denied at this point."

I agree with this - but accept that in the world of football ( and as an ex director of a football club) it is a reasonable position for our owners to take. From a fans perspective I hate it as I always want to progress - Europe etc.
Jay makes many incredibly good , positive comments - but just as Angus is very pessimistic Jay is too sugary . When they argue and both " go on " I switch off - which is a shame as they both make valuable points
Anyway that is purely my view and I well understand if people do not agree

I've blocked one of them. It makes the entire thread much more enjoyable

I just watched a quick YouTube highlight of him and he reminds me of Harry Wilson (but a left sided version) Quick, skilful and very lightweight.

Yeah looks pretty decent to me and amazing scoring and assist record but who knows. Only third tier source however by the looks of it so may be BS.

I doubt he'd be the target since we have a settled side of wingers in their mid to late 20s. Would expect either someone younger or someone with a higher profile assuming we get Nelson back.
