With the sale of Andrea, I'm fully expecting us to complete the purchase of Kevin.

Allegedly we made our final bid and shaktar haven't accepted it so that's that. Some rumour that if they find another wing replacement on top what they have already he may be allowed to move on. Player wants move, his team think it's a fair bid and are angry with his club (apparently)...ultimately we appear to have offered our top bid. And it is already pretty huge for us, a significant club record offer. 🤷

I'm not sure we can or should be raising it even higher, and I really like kevin. I suspect we'll wait it out till the deadline at this point whilst lining up 2 of nelson/sterling/chuk or another in case they stick to their guns and say no still.

That's disappointing. Would be nice to lower the average age, any one of Nelson/Sterling/Chuk will not do that. At this stage, let's just give Godo some game time.

So both chuk and nelson are significantly younger than those that left. Nelson is miles ahead of Godo talent wise curenrtly, it's just a matter of if he can stay fit.

I'm not one for playing youth just because they're young. They need to be able to contribute now, like king, and I don't think Martials there yet. I think he needs a loan first.

Id like Kevin as much as the next man but ultimately if they won't budge they won't budge and we do have to have some limits to what we're willing or able to pay

We raised the average age by swapping Benda for Lecomte. Godo isn't good enough so agree he should be moved on (whether loan or perm) but he's our second youngest player so that'll also raise the average age. Can't see our other business offsetting those moves.

Played almost three times as many minutes. But why offer context?

Strand-Larsen did, indeed, play many more minutes than Muniz for his 14 goals and 4 assists. (2,600 to Muniz's 950). Breaking this statistic down further, however, Strand-Larsen took almost 2000 minutes to register the first 7 goals and 2 assists and only a little over 600 minutes to add his second lot of 7 goals and 2 assists. It could be, therefore, the player simply needed time to adapt to the demands of the P.L. and is now showing his true capabilities. This, in my opinion, is the view Newcastle have taken in tabling their bid of £50M.

And, to my eyes, it looks as if Strand-Larsen, more so than Muniz, is more like the player Newcastle are seeking to replace in Alexander Isak. Isak is capable of running with the ball between the half-way line and the penalty area - something we don't really see from Muniz. Strand-Larsen, on the other hand, while not possessing Isak's sublime technique, will run at defenders with the ball.

They really see this conference league game as important so no surprise that they want him to help them before letting him go. They were prepared to play him in the first leg even though he only returned from injury a couple of days before.

He's saying what I have been thinking all summer. I think we already have a good squad and I'm not worried over lack of signings.

We can't get more than another club is willing to pay. The P.L. may be awash with money, but other countries less so. With no interest from within the P.L. and, possibly, the only bidder from abroad being Palmeiras, £10M for a player we are ready to sell is not a figure we can afford to reject, in my opinion.

I totally disagree. It's not just about what another clubs values him at - what we value him at as a threshold to sell is equally important. If we value him at more than £10m (which we should given the reasons I outline / how much it will cost to replace him / he still has 2 years in his contract so we aren't in THAT weak a bargaining position), then if no one meets our valuation then we negotiate higher or don't sell.

Why should we expect to bend over on both purchase AND sales transfers?

Given we've spent nothing so far, we absolutely can afford to not sell if no one pays true value and we dont have anyone else lined up, which it seems we don't if Silva's words on Friday are to be believed. If he leaves and we fail to replace it objectively weakens our squad.

I don't mind him leaving (and actually think we definitely should sell) IF we get a fair fee and bring in a replacement - if these conditions aren't met then we shouldn't.

Ornstein also reporting that Mainoo is looking at leaving. We would probably only have chance at a loan, doubt United would sell for anything less than a ludicrous price and I think Mainoo would be aiming for a bigger club if it is a permanent transfer.

He's saying what I have been thinking all summer. I think we already have a good squad and I'm not worried over lack of signings.

Yeah, I don't agree with our transfer strategy of always leaving it late - But this year is the first year we're in a better position with our matchday squad probably for since Roy's days. We have some depth and quality on the bench, and I'd argue our bench was better than theirs at the weekend.

Doesn't mean we can sit back and relax, as I think a lot of us are wondering where's the next stars coming from, when some of our best players wind down or move on.

I think a few around 18-23 would give us some squad progression and more comfort in changing guard over next few seasons, as I'm sure we're all still scarred by the relegation under Jol and having Sidwell, Parker, Karagounis all between 32-36 in the middle of the park.

They might as well sell him for a good, but not ridiculous price, because he's homegrown and pure profit (like Garnacho). £100m for the pair and that probably pays off the big spending they've already done. But he won't come to us (I actually don't think he'd be a starter for us immediately either anyway). He's a kinda Villa/Tottenham kind of player, and if he goes, that's where he'll end up.
