Magassa looks destined for West Ham, as copthornemike said - Romano and a couple of others confirmed it earlier today.

I would be very surprised if we get Mainoo even on loan - a lot of teams would be after him.

It'll never happen, but would be really really good.
Surely it would be either Magassa or Mainoo. It makes no sense to get both, even with Pereira out.

Why not? They're totally different players. Magassa is a DM whereas Mainoo is a box-to-box player.

We could definitely benefit from having both!

We don't need two more players for the 6 and 8 positions. AP was out of the squad completely in our last game. I'd expect Reed to be the out of the squad when everyone is fit if we get another midfielder, but if we get two more that would mean that, when everyone is fit, one of the two new midfielders, or one of Berge/Lukic would be out of the squad, which makes no sense, imo.

Silva's thoughts on leaving things late:

JK: Can Deadline Day make some deals that seemed hard, a bit easier?

Silva "I don't believe it. It's not the way I see the business of football. It's not the way I see the market. If you are waiting because the final day can give you that miracle? I don't think (so)."

"I prefer to think in our work, what we can control. Even if you are not going to have the star that probably comes in the last day by a miracle. We have other more important things, like the players who have been here for a longer time, to prepare them for PL."

"Even if you can find an amazing deal on the last day, I think in a completely different way. Football is much more than that. Wait for the last day, let's see if the miracle comes."

Fairly obvious Tony has gone all out with his damn wrestling and has completely fcuked Marco over this window.

Can't speak for Mick but as others have said, Silva and various others have made it clear there was a plan/intention to bring in around four first team players this window, not including Lecomte. That hasn't happened and is incredibly unlikely to happen in the next few days. Indeed, I'd be surprised if we execute even half of that plan, and even then it won't be for the primary targets we had, because Silva has already said they're gone. Pretty hard not to characterise that as Silva being stitched up.

Questions for the post mortem will be, was it just incompetence from TK/AM, did TK go AWOL this year, or do you we just have a permanent vacuum in the DOF space that would normally drive transfer business?

Perhaps I misread Silva's comments, but I'm pretty sure he implied that some of our top targets have gone, not all of them.

If rumour has it, for instance, that he wanted Reiss Nelson back, then he's still available and we're supposedly still in discussions with Arsenal for him.

Yep, I agree that something seems to have failed, but the fat lady isn't warbling just yet.

Its the lazy links to the wrestling is what I was getting at really. Nobody knows that and its getting tedious quite frankly.

Marco has reiterated they had a plan in May to get players in early this window and stated the recruitment has been very passive. I take that as meaning not trying hard enough or making enough effort from our end to get deals done.

So it has nothing to do with the players we wanted having a preference for another club and signing on with them.?
It could be better, but it's not a fantasy:

How do we know who we wanted? I'm going by what Marco said. Im not looking for another petty argument on here. There are too many of those as it is!

Marco says alot of things to get his way, he wanted four players a third striker that won't be playing unless of injuries or a complete loss of form from Raul and Muniz so no rush there. Two wingers when we have Wilson, Iwobi, sess and Traore also ESR can play there. A CM which is probably the one position we could of done with getting in early. He talks about the Afcon but we are not looking for a CB so that only leaves Iwobi to cover. I remember before there was a transfer window a club would buy a player who would probably start on the bench first couple of games and by the third game would be in the starting eleven.

Apparently Tony asked Marco when does the window open. Ali Mac said don't worry Tone i've super glued it.

There, fixed that for ya

I haven't read everything above, but leaving your signings too late must have a   negative affect on negotiating deals. The selling clubs will be aware that we haven't signed players and we may appear increasingly desperate to get deals done, so it becomes a negative tactic if left for too long to sign anyone.

The squad we have is decent but I do feel we need a minimum of 3 players in, whether that's loans maybe.

Mt two pennies anyway.
Guy goes into the doctor's.
"Doc, I've got a cricket ball stuck up my backside
"How's that?"
"Don't you start"

Leaving signings late can benefit the buyer if the seller wants to sell the player, e.g., Nelson or Sterling.

Surlyc

This has been such a strange window. Barely any links, let alone signings.

At the moment, with Pereira likely gone, we are weaker than we were last season. That said if we can get the CM & winger we desperately need, maybe this window won't have been a total disaster.
