Could all be irrelevant if Frank gets the heave ho at spurs and they come calling for Silva....

Quote from: Jeroen on January 16, 2026, 11:06:43 PMAccording to Dutch Media (voetbal international) we have increased our offer on pepi by a couple of million.
PSV seems to have a replacement in mind already as well

Who knows!?!!
The Pepi deal didn't make a lot of sense to me to begin with, but it makes even less sense now that he's injured. Raul has upped his form recently and Muniz will be back pretty soon.

Maybe Pepi is Marco's #1 target and in order to sign a new contract we need to get him?
I think I read somewhere Mr khan wants the Kudos of having the Centre Forward of the USA
Men's  squad playing for Fulham.
If true, thin edge of the wedge if the Chairman/Owner starts picking the players. Find it hard to believe . It's bad enough having TK involved.

He's been involved , assisted by his stat company, in the process of identifying and securing talent the entire time he's been here as per every interview with him ever. Lots of discussion of watching tape with Marco etc etc...confirmed by Marco interviews name checking his involvement in the process as a joint effort.

Marco is just more involved than previous managers in the process and it seems they reportedly trust his judgement and back him if he pushes hard for a specific player (as per Muniz and ESR ) and they have seemingly given him the final sign off (as they should).

Given we've had lots of great value and quality transfers for years now I'll never understand the constant bashing of his involvement tbh. Even the team that got relegated under parker is always brought up online in videos saying "how tf did THIS team get relegated" such was the quality of players in it. As ever maintain the issue there was more manager than squad.

So regardless of who originally made the suggestion, if we sign pepi it will have been signed off by Marco who will have been involved in confirming targets. "We are all aligned"

Somebody should let him know that Balogun plays in France then.

38 G/A in 115 games in the Bundesliga. Playing literally all over the pitch.
24 years old
roughly 0.48 G/A per 90 mins

We were actually linked heavily with him a couple windows ago. Arsenal were asking for €30m and the player chose to head to France.

Tricky one.
At the time it was reported that it was a Harry Wilson or Tyrique George situation.
And...Wilson has of course proven to be absolutely brilliant this season.

Can understand his frustration with that set up from Georges side though, as clearly he was happy to sign in the summer. I would imagine he'd want to be somewhere he feels very much wanted so may well be a no go for us now.

Quote from: ArcticOctopus on January 16, 2026, 02:43:55 PMYeah, there's a lot to like about Marco but if he can't commit, I don't know why he would expect the Khan's to.

The thing is, MS has never been satisfied with ownership support.  Has vocally indicated in various windows how he wanted players in sooner rather than later, and that has never happened, always last minute.  And I'm not so sure the players that have come in were MS 1st choice types.  Just seems to me that over the MS years we've rarely seen a window that our coach has been happy with.  I do like MS, he certainly has his shortcomings, but has done well with what he's had to work with.  But as others have posted, he's not the end-all, there are other coaches that could/can do a job at FFC.

I agree that Marco has rarely if ever been satisfied with the windows and he definitely doesn't like the failure to sign players early. Have you considered, Windy, that it may not be the owners' fault? Fulham is not playing in Europe. We are not challenging for silverware. We don't have money to burn. Player's agents will always hold out as long as they can in case a better offer comes in. Clubs will also delay while they hope for a higher offer. I don't remember Marco ever showing that he blames the owners for the delays.

I'm a big fan of how we have a really specific target here, hope we can pull it off with Pepi. They've seen something they like, and I'd be excited to see what he can do.

How can we proceed with this under the Khans watch we already signed Mitroglu what a complete waste of time that was

FFC007

With Lukic seemingly out for a very long time, central midfield needs urgent attention... yet we've still not signed anyone..

If there are no signings by the end of the window, the knives will be out.

We should take a look at Timber from Feyernoord. Tidy player, put of contract at the end of the season and seems to have had a falling out with Van Persie according to reports and been told he won't play again. Surely he would like to be close to his brother as well. Maybe available for a reasonable price and a decent replacement for Lukic.

Trusty Steed

I always wonder about Pepi, are we after him solely because of him as a player, or is it because of our American connection.  When is the last year we didn't have an American player? 2003 I believe?

Not to derail this thread but Jedi isn't REALLY American though, is he? His dad is English and moved to America at a young age. His mother is Jamaican. And he himself was born in England. I would make the concession he could be American if his dad was born in the USA.

Certainly a talent but had a feeling he'd end up at gala or ferne type club.

Given his seeming attitude etc perhaps it's for the best. Where as a champs league club from a smaller market might well be willing to take that risk and put up with any potential drama + pay him what he'll believe he's worth.

I know you like to dabble on the sensationalist side of things...

But Pepi has broken his forearm in a random accident, whilst Fulham are comfortably mid table and 3 points off 6th. His legs are fine and he's young.

Mitroglu was signed with a persistent knee injury whilst we were in a relegation dogfight....slightly different circumstances to put it mildly and a very long time apart.

Pepi is likely the long term raul replacement

I thought Galatasaray were skint and had to offload players

Sensationalist side we signed a crock he didn't play as was our most expensive player ever why would you want to buy a injured player again he has broken his arm what if it doesn't heal well and it can't be fixed properly and he gets permanent pain and problems wouldn't go anywhere near this deal
