Also in the same price bracket at 28 years old.

Be a good signing for someone. Parker really did ruin what could have been some great signings for us back then. But hey - if he'd succeeded we quite likely wouldn't have had the Silva years.

Lookman as a LW/ST would be superb although likely no resale value unless he bags about 20 goals in 2026

Quote from: hopper on January 26, 2026, 05:03:55 PMForest apparently going in for Mateta after I stuck my neck out to say he wouldn't make a sideways move. Well it would be very interesting if that somehow ended up happening and would prove me wrong.

No idea where they keep finding this money from there.

They always seem to have some dodgy deal up their sleeves with the same clubs. Also a crazy turnover of players. The moves of people to Textor teams is particularly side eye inducing. Mateta a decent player for sure, suprised he's not got offers from bigger sides, wouldn't be mad at that signing, although of course no resale value so I see the appeal of going for the much younger Pepi who appears to be a long standing target at this point so clearly someone Silva is happy to work with in his style.

Cheeky bid for Lookman - he's a different player now, reunite him with Tete, Andersen, Cairney, and then Iwobi, Bassey and maybe Chuk - would be a great option for our striker position with Muniz!

Dream window - signing Atta, Pepi, Lookman and Bobb - let Adama move on, renew Marco's contract and Wilson's, and then with tremendous gratitude figure out if Raul should stay or not for another season (he's proven at this level and reliable).

Would bring down the cost and age of the team and push us on to a potentially very exciting and young team, most of whom are tied to long contracts.

Beyond dodgy with Textor, he went into Lyon as CEO and started doing deals that exclusively benefitted Marinakis, seemingly with the intention of buying out Botafogo together. He almost ruined the club, that has steadied the ship really well since then. They're both criminals.

Don't know where Forest keep finding the money, they spent an absolute fortune in the summer. Brought in Lucca on loan, and now bid £35m for Mateta. Pretty crazy stuff. No idea if they can make the books work.

No thanks. Has a history of perhaps one good season then fades away. Wasn't great for us, miskicked quite a few great chances where he should have done much better.

If Mateta does join Forest - then I owe @KentFulham an apology.

Must assume he would be getting offered a huge wage to want to move there

Getting both Bobb and Lookman would make no sense, especially if we also got Pepi like you said. Striker-Muniz, Raul, Pepi and Lookman for 1 position. Wing positions -Wilson,Chukwueze, Kevin, Iwobi, Bobb and Lookman for 2 positions.

I was saying perhaps graciously let Raul leave at end of season with our deepest gratitude, which means you've have Muniz, Lookman (who know the league and have proven themselves to varying degrees and offer different playing styles) and Pepi (who's young and will need to adapt), plus Lookman can play on the wing.

I wouldn't put Iwobi on the wing if we had Wilson, Chuk, Kevin and Bobb as our wing options, but play him more creatively in the middle next to Lukic. Then with Lookman you can have a player who adds value across the front line.

Its not that crazy. It'd be very good strength in depth, though with two of those options, maybe three, they still need to grow into themselves in the league in Bobb, Pepi and Kevin, so whilst young and exciting, you'd have to spend time developing them and bringing them on

Do you think Raul would stay on if we offered him reduced wages and playing time? He seems like such a smart player, it'd be nice if he could stay on as both an emergency striker and mentor to Muniz and (hopefully) Pepi. I don't really have a sense of how much another club would be willing to offer him.

He's unlikely to drop his wages significantly enough to make it worthwhile as a 3rd choice striker.

He's on 100k per week allegedly before bonuses. If you instead bring in pepi for 80k per week range to compete for starting spot - and then have ALB or JKA as your third choice then that's way cheaper than even a reduced Raul wage. And you can  spend the savings on positions that will need some attention in the summer. Namely RB and possibly DM and CB if we sell Reed and Diop and don't want to replace them solely with youth.

I like Raul and he's useful for sure. But I think I would prefer to give third striker minutes to youth

West Ham trying to hijack the Pepi deal....

I think they've already signed two strikers so probably just noise

Almost definitely bollocks

And also... even if they tried. Why in gods earth would he sign for a team in the relegation zone that just signed 2 other strikers, over a team who's been chasing him for a couple years, with history of american players, a national teammate in Robinson, and who are currently 7th.

Pepi is coming to Fulham.

I still think that's way too many attacking options.

Can someone explain to me why we should get Pepi, especially at that price? I've seen a lot of fans who are very excited about him potentially joining us, but to me it would be a terrible signing.
