Apparently it will be decided next week according to Marco in his press conference. He's not even going to give us clarity before the last game of the season which feels a bit poor in all honesty, I don't know what will change in 7 days given he's confirmed we've offered him a new contract as well

To be honest it's a joke that we're now essentially letting ourselves be at the mercy of Real Madrid and will fall in line depending on what they end up doing. If we had a backbone we would have issued an ultimatum to Silva months ago, if he wanted to dither about we'd say thank you but you can go at the end of your contract, and then we'd line up a new manager. Now we're just sitting around waiting for Real to decide what they want to do about Mourinho, then waiting to see if Benfica get Silva. Just isn't proactive and we're the end of a chain and risking being collateral damage.

Quite possibly. At the end of the day if the ticket sales and PL TV revenue keep rolling in why would they bother thinking too hard about it? Of course the reality is there's only so much you can continue with the status quo before you find yourself relegated. It's the nature of the game.

I completely agree with your post as well, was just adding to it. Your explanation is a good summation of their methodologies. They know Silva keeps them up, and has put up with their unconventional way of working. Likewise with the Willian and Tete extensions, they allowed themselves to get completely played around with because in order to take an option they consider safe.

Contrast to clubs like Brentford and Bournemouth who always plan ahead. Replacement signings made within days, signings made before season has started.

OK Bournemouth are also owned by a fairly hands-off American owner, but Brighton, Brentford and Crystal Palace have owners who have an emotional stake in their clubs - they want them to achieve things as well as make money, so it's no surprise to see them properly challenging and winning things.

I don't know the details of Bournemouth's ownership and structure, I know it's American. Either way they're incredibly efficient and capable operationally. They identify players and have deals ready to go. I can't recall any sagas in their signings like we will. It goes from rumour to transfer very quickly, whereas we offer something considerably lower than would be accepted and across weeks incrementally go up - right until the last minute.

Fulham boss Marco Silva has promised he will make make a decision on his future next week.

The 48-year-old Portuguese's contract at Craven Cottage expires at the end of June and the club are keen to keep him, offering a new three-year deal.

Silva, who was appointed in 2021, was linked with the Chelsea job before former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso was appointed.

Benfica have also been mentioned as possible suitors for Silva as they eye a replacement for Real Madrid-bound Jose Mourinho.

Fulham's final Premier League match of the season is against Newcastle on Sunday.

Speaking at his pre-match news conference on Friday, Silva said he did not see the uncertainty surrounding him "as an issue".

"I understand why you call it as an issue, I see it as a situation that we are at the end of a contract, we have been talking to the football club and the football club is talking with us," he said.

"And I'm going to take a decision, as are the football club, next week.

"I just have one offer on the table for me to think about. I understand my agent is speaking with the club, but I have an offer from a long, long time that we are talking about and that is Fulham Football Club."

Silva took charge of Fulham when they were in the Championship five years ago and steered the club to promotion in his first season.

Since then he has established them in the Premier League, guiding the Cottagers to 10th, 13th and 11th placed finishes.

They currently sit 13th with the match at home to Newcastle left, but Fulham have failed to win in their past three games, seriously denting their chances of qualifying for Europe next season.

If Marco stays then OK, maybe he will change some tactics next season with some new players coming in. We have a choice to think about, sticking with the devil you know compared to Twisting and getting someone else in.

I think the  Club have to have the balls to say to him "we want a decision by Monday latest". We need to give a new Manager the time to get his players in and get his tactics in to the squad during the summer.

I am concerned that the Parker esk football that has been served up at times this season is here to stay, we'll see.
