If Marco leaves it won't be down to how much his contract is worth or how much xyz player costs! It will be how let down he has been with the timescale of player recruitment coming in. How is a manager supposed to prepare for a season if his boss continuously has the cavalry turning up late? I wholeheartedly disagree with you, with all due respect. If early transfers were so adamant and crucial as you are indicating then Marco would never ever entertain a contract extension in the first place and would have said NOPE months ago.

Additionally, in Marco's post match interview it appeared like he felt he might need a break due to the fact that he felt he had put the club in front of personal issues for the last 5 years. Does that point to a less stressful (in his mind) Benfica job? We shall see.

   Let's look at the positives. Firstly Marco. He's established himself as a great manager after a run of short spells at Hull, Watford and Everton. Whose teams punch above their weight. A break from the pressure of the Premiership and the chance to manage Benfica. One of the top three teams in Portugal with an enviable history and support whilst also going back home. Is probably a dream come true.
   Now Fulham, a club with an owner whose invested heavily and has got to grips with the ownership of a Premiership Football Club. A squad of good players both young and old. Who on their day can give most in this league a hard time.
   If that team can be handed to a manager with fresh ideas, who can squeeze out a bit more of the potential in that squad. Then the futures bright.
   This season several teams with bigger cheque books than us have made some awful managerial appointments. Let's hope our  Chairman has learnt those lesson from the past and we go onwards and upwards.

In his 5 years at Fulham, he has regularly travelled to and from Portugal when he gets time off.

Maybe SK has decided its time for MS to move on. Having spent £100m on ESR, Bobb and Kevin and not seen the team improve I would imagine he's getting concerned about not getting value for money out of Silva.
