Marco Silva off to Benfica

None of us know what is really happening.  Maybe SK is happy to have Marco's decision by the end of this week. Maybe it's been agreed that this is fine. Maybe we've options lined up. Maybe Marco will just leave and if the Benfica gig comes up all well and good.
No point in ranting and raving and worrying (unless that's what you enjoy doing). Just go with the flow and see what occurs.

Absolutely true. I am just tired of this saga, and, it is a well known fact that when people have no information on a subject they start speculating and argue for the validity of their speculations, me included.
This could have all been avoided with a little information from any party.

That said, I have been thinking the same as you. Perhaps they are chill like The Dude in Big Lebowski, everybody being comfortable with the idea that "it happens when it happens", and a professionally run club would indeed have options lined up already.
We are not that amateurish.
So I'm not genuinely worried.
But I am annoyed with how this has been communicated, regardless of what's happening.

Additionally, we won't seriously start signing any players until on or around the 30th August, so there's plenty of time to sort it.

::scarf:: Someone needs to tell Marco, we're not a bloody Train Station....
Sign up or move on... either way, just damn well do it... stop messing everyone about...  ::angry::

I don't care about Marco he don't care about me.

A new manager may well have had conversations with SK about who he wants to bring in.

True

On "Fulham time" it's still early March.

Whoever is at the helm next year, I think we need to be setting European qualification as the bar for avoiding the sack.

We have had information: All along the information has been that Marco has yet to decide.

What we haven't had yet is an answer. And this is why the information hasn't been enough for many. They want a definitive answer. So the same question has kept being asked and the same information keeps being given.

Marco is entitled to wait until the end of his contract before deciding what to do next. He seems to have conveyed this intention to the Club some time ago. The Club, clearly, has been prepared to wait to find out what that decision will be. I imagine that, for Marco and the Club, it hasn't been a saga at all - merely a wait. I have no doubt the Club has used the intervening period to consider its options should Silva choose a parting of the ways.

With information I meant something like "Marco really misses his family and is considering moving back to Portugal" which could be an outright lie for all I care, but at least that is something that fans could relate to and then understand the reason why he has been dragging this on. Instead we get a "mystery", a "lets se what happens". Few are content with that approach.
Besides that, I see your point

So now it's midday Thursday. Technically over half the week has elapsed now if he was counting the weekend when saying he'll make this mind up this week. Or just 1.5 more days if only weekdays.

MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MIND MARCO.

Avoiding a relegation scrap is the bar,
a domestic cup final
would be great.

Who on earth would want to keep him if he comes crawling back, get him out now

We need more ambition than that

Maybe your expectations need a reality check,
otherwise you could end up like some of
the moaning minnies on here.

Which is a big part of the problem.

I'm not that fussed about Silva the coach staying really - I'd like him to stay, but I also don't think he's irreplecable (though I don't have huge trust that we'll get the appontment right).

The bigger reason I want Silva to stay is that if he does, it means he has one the idealogical battle with Mackintosh over the clubs' strategy - prioritising football outcomes over financial ones. We're never going to progress* if we don't get better at proactively turning over/refreshing the squad and taking a few more measured risks in recruitment.

*and thats assuming we don't start to fall backwards against other teams currently below us who are doing things more intelligently.

well the Khans got the last appointment (Silva) right. Appointment came out of left field, he oversaw one of our best ever seasons winning the Championship and then consolidated our position in the PL with four solid mid-table seasons, with a fifth to follow. So why assume the next appointment will be wrong?
