Quote from: Brawn on May 25, 2026, 09:26:25 PMHis lap of honour yesterday definitely gave off the air of someone who was leaving (as was Reed, Wilson, and oddly, Cairney).

Cairney? Surprising as he just signed a one year extension, but believable. Was pantsil with him and were they jogging or walking?

And I wonder how this event helps him decide his future, which he said he would communicate by the end of the week. It's only Wednesday so I shall hold back any frustration for now

So anyway,I met this Portuguese  feller........... ::wink::

Benfica are on hold, I read yesterday as they cannot do anything until Jose goes to Madrid and that wont be before the Real Madrid presidential elections on the 7th of June. As someone is standing against Perez they have to have the election, if this other guy withdraws then they can move earlier. SO  all in all the water is still as clear as mud

Try to get it done on the first day of the transfer window, but most likely it will happen on the last day in the 11th hour.

Felipe Luis in talks with Leverkusen according to the media - Apparently was a target for Fulham with the Silva indecision, may hint we have an answer soon.

At this point, expecting the club to just draw a line in the sand is futile. But we don't need to wait for Real Madrid to make up their mind so Benfica can make up theirs. Just go out and hire a new manager. I love what Marco did for us the past 5 years, but the amount of leverage he holds seems disproportionate to the results of the last 2 seasons.

I understand if he doesn't want to commit to the club again but don't treat us as a safety net. He's made £4 million a year for the last 5 years, he can go a few months unemployed if he really wants to see what better opportunities are out there.

It's odd that Marco gets the flack.... it is the owner that is at fault showing poor management as usual

If Marco will not sign, then he should have been shown the door, nicely, but the door none the less.

We need to know who is in charge next season now.

If he is staying and it is dotting the Is and crossing the Ts, then say so.

marco said a decision would happen this week, it's wednesday already after months of knowing this was coming, how long does it take? It is, as usual, a ridiculous situation to be in because it will affect the players we want to kee, those we want to get and those we are offloading.

The owner need to get a gripo and show some proper leadership.

To be fair some of the flack has been aimed at the owners as well as at Marco.

They're very much both at fault here. Marco for stringing us along with this will he won't he crypticism, and the ownership/management for not getting a grip of the situation and being proactive. Complete joke that it's now been half a week since the end of the season and we STILL don't know if Silva will be here at the start of next season. We cannot afford to be pushed around by the likes of Real and Benfica.

According to Talksport, Marco met with Fulham hierarchy yesterday and they're offering to double his salary to £8M per year, making him the third highest paid Premier League manager after Arteta and De Zerbi!

Not sure how much truth is in that, but that salary seems insane.

At this point we should just bake the full transfer budget into his salary and set Champions League to be his goal and he can buy and negotiate whatever player he wants to reach that from his own salary. We are making ourselves way, way too dependent on him being The One And Only regardless.

Ahh, Chesney Hawkes  ::smile::
Well, we are very fortunate to have Shahid as our owner who has given substantial sums in owning and developing our precious Cottage, investing significant and substantial sums in player additions with or without Marcos final say so
If I were him I would be tearing my hair out (even my moustache) given the smoke and mirrors game Marco has been playing whilst he awaits his "do I go or do I stay?"
Enough now already
If true, the offer to Marco is huge and he should accept or have the good grace to give notice of leaving - who cares where.
He has been very fortunate to be able to rebuild his career with us and has delivered some terrific results along with Premiership stability
Marco, don't muck it all up now
What he isn't is a complete/ finisher.
A biento Marco

Feels like a bit of a disconnect here.. for me Marco isn't necessarily in need or wanting to double his salary, what he wants is the players and the transfer budget and ability to do transfers quickly and at the beginning of the season to have a full squad, with requisite depth and to have them in early in preseason so we're not wasting time settling them and the squad I to a routine

This has to be bs. If not then the owners have taken leave of their senses.

Would rather the 4million was invested in the team not overpaying MS. Hasn't been good enough for me to warrant huge increase in salary.

Poor every last 3rd a season, unable to set up a plan B and far to many piss poor halves of football that have cost us dearly
