If we could rob them of even £25m that would be great news. Man U replace Ugarte with a taller Ugarte! If he stays then it's hard to believe he can only pass sideways. Arbeloa likes vertical passing so would hopefully get more out of him.

Well I guess some people only see what they want to see.
Plenty of examples of really good forward passes by him, most notably, remember Josh King's goal that never was a Chelsea. Remember who picked that pass and played it through???

I think he gets quite a hard time. Every time i watch him I think hes very tidy in possession and doesnt really lose the ball and he intercepts well. I think his biggest flaw is he doesnt shoot and for his size hes not great in the air, but I think hes a very good player.

I do think Berge is a great player but one who looks to have been restricted by Marco's tactics

FFC007

If Arbeloa arrives we will need someone in that midfield to protect whilst everyone is legging it forward.

Alternatively, I think a Palhinha rottweiler is a necessity in Arbeloa's tactics, if he arrives...

€3m offer rejected for JKA & expected we go back in with another bid. Reckon it might be somewhere between €6-10m as he's into the last year of his contract

It's an odd one for me. When we signed him there was quite a bit of hype but I can't particularly recall anything positive that he did in his fleeting appearances for the senior team. I saw him in the flesh v Wycombe and he was really quite poor. Maybe he did a bit more in the almost comeback v Man City. I guess someone thinks he could develop significantly.

Was there that much hype? If I recall it happened at the eleventh hour on deadline day and we all were saying how desperate it is that it was the best we could do and that he would be third choice at best (which he was).

This worries me that we are in the market for cheap players....

Doesn't bode well.

I don't mean hype in anticipation as it came out of the blue, more that there was talk afterwards of him being baby Isak with lots of talent. Mind you, after Isak's ropey season the comparison may not be wrong.

JKA is still 18 years old. Soon to be 19. I'm not sure what people expected of him considering his lack of experience in senior football and maturity. If the club have seen enough of him to suggest a bright future then maybe he's worth investing in and sending him out on loan for a season. That's what other clubs do before introducing young players to their first team squads.

What because we're trying to sign an 18 year old for under €10m to be our third striker? The whole point of trying to sign him as third choice for that price means you can spend more on a #1 striker and have Muniz as backup

Unfortunately we are not privvy to our PSR situation

He's also 27. So what we'd be doing is replacing a 30-year-old with someone 3 years younger and then we'll be doing this again in 3 years.

LC

This transfer wouldn't be cheap but I like Giorgio Scalvini, I think he would cost around the £35m mark. Centre back who can also play in midfield apparently, young as well.

Muniz as back up? You havin' a giraffe?

To be fair that's probably realistic. I would be surprised if we spend big on two centre forwards. I think we'll sign a centre forward to be our starting choice with Muniz as back-up. He was injured last season, but he has proved he can get you around 10 PL goals a season. I think we'll spend the main bulk of our funds in midfield - I personally think we need two central midfielders and a centre back. If I'm being greedy I think we need to look at right back as well because unfortunately Tete can't stay fit. And that's before we talk about a Wilson replacement - or maybe we won't replace him and we'll start seeing Iwobi play out wide again.

One thing is for certain this will likely be a big summer window for us.

I probably have to agree with you. I certainly think that, after the obvious CF, midfield is our priority with a TC type player an absolute must and a defensive CM next on my list.
