Quote from: Pavel Dempsey on July 08, 2026, 09:21:07 AMIt looks like Arbeloa set the bar much higher, Kinsella from BBC said we are interested in Franco Mastantuono (one of the world greatest talents right now), left-back Fran Garcia and striker Gonzalo Garcia.
Fran Garcia reportedly accepted 4 year contract with Real Betis. Update signed for Real Betis.

Would take what he says with a pinch of salt - he's a Chelsea reporter who previously said that the Kevin deal had fallen through and he was going to Benfica...

@jolslover

If we could bring in Franco Mastantuono and Gonzalo Garcia would be insane. Garcia fits perfectly into being our starting striker. Remember him being on fire in the club world cup for Madrid scoring in 4 consecutive games. Mastantuono already capped for Argentina at 18 and had every club in Europe going for him last summer

 Franco Mastantuono is rumoured to be for sale for around £40m. I think it's unlikely we'd do that on someone with no first team appearances.

He made 23 appearances for Real in La Liga last season? And before that 45 for River Plate (who are not a bad team).

Not to mention 4 Argentina appearances as well, at the age of 18.

@jolslover

I think if we got him it would be a loan rather than shelling out 45m for him..

I watched Madrid Villareal at the Bernabeau last season and he started alongside Bellingham, Vinicius and Mbappe and to be honest looked the most lively of the four and was very skilful / creative.

To have started a chunk of games for Madrid and Argentina at 18 shows how highly rated he is

Plus about 2 hours after he namedroped Fran Garcia, it comes out that he's agreed a deal with Betis. Kinsella is not a good journo for Fulham stories because I think he guesses a lot of it

I really doubt we're going to start making 50m transfers given we're probably so close to SCR limits already.

Pavel Dempsey

Mastantuono would probably be on loan but if you can sign him for 40m you do that and dont think twice. His next transfer is going to be north of 100m, he is that good. One of the world biggest talents.

Gonzalo Garcia also looks very good.

We will probably end up with Marco Fotheringhamez
Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

@jolslover

Few pieces on Sky Sports now around Gonzalo Garcia being our key target for this window.. would be a coup if we can get him.

Also Team Talk reporting the following:

🚨🆕 Fulham want to sign multiple Real Madrid stars after appointing Alvaro Arbeloa as their new boss 😲

Gonzalo Garcia and Franco Mastantuono are just two of the names on the club's radar 👀

Garcia and Mastantuono would be huge.

Find it hard to believe we'd get one of them, let alone both but sky sports of course a gold star source so we can but dream

Seems Skyports only mention Garcia though - only Nizar for the bbc who's mentioned Mastantuono...and he's patchy at best for us

Id think they would do the same with him as they did with Nico Paz - add a buy back clause

Yeh I would think it would be a developmental thing rather than with an option. And frankly I'd be more than happy with that situation if the player is good enough

We're not going to sign anyone of note, are we? Our purse strings have little slack.

Some great names being touted, SCR is probably a problem for us, although one of our own making given our failure to sell players at the right time, leaving us with a fairly low value older squad. I would like to see us start buying and selling more freely, with a keen lens on selling at the right time with a view to improving on a buy. This kind of style was just to far fetched for a manager such as Silva, a make do, play it safe manager. AA on the other hand I feel will be much better at this
