Car tax is being brought in for electric cars. The b4st4rds will get you whatever way they can.

Hugh Janus

I have done 3 tyres in 12 months due to shocking state of the roads. Tried to claim the money back off the council and got the run around. Bunch of cretins.

Dr Know

Don't need a car here on the Isle of Wight, horse and cart for me !

Of course they will... it's the second hand market price's I like the look of... electric cars appear to have a big depreciation in their first few years....when we had the house rewired we made provision for an external charger.... I'm also considering solar, but still waiting for prices to come down

Quote from: battersea boy on February 13, 2026, 01:58:55 AMThis is a first for me...Road Tax more expensive than Insurance.
 Mercedes C180 Kompressor Coupe,drives like a dream 69000 miles.
  £340 Road Tax
  Insurance £306.

If it makes you feel better, I now live in the States and my Mercedes insurance is 1,500 per year. Insurance here is out of control. House insurance 5,000 per year, health insurance 12,000 per year.

Jeez, where do you live?

I got my car insurance down to under 1200 bucks a year for 2 23-plate cars with AllState, whereas Liberty were upping my rates from 1800 to 2400 a year for the same. Same with House insurance, 2200 bucks instead of 3500 with Liberty.

New York

Sorry to hear that mate, though the rates aren't so surprising for that place, I'm ~800 miles west of you, the weather's good, come on over, it's all cheaper, though not as fancy! Nice 3-bedroomed ranch, 2-3 garage, on acre+ of land can be got for under 400K here, and the insurance rates are a doddle.

Logical is just in the name - don't expect it has anything to do with my thought process, because I AM the man who sold the world.

I always go for black circles when I buy new tyres. White circles just look odd and black squares are just a no no.

I agree complete cretins. I often wonder if Councils are run by Lizards, as they cannot be of this earth.
I am now using wooden wheels towed by two Bison.

Though supposedly a larger chunk of it goes to transport infrastructure. Which means that it's all been blown on HS2- which has now, incredibly/stupidly/infuriatingly, become the most expensive railway in the world.
actualy it all goes on paying tube drivers£80Ka year

Going back about 20 years, road tax was abolished in Gib and they put the price of fuel up by 4p per litre. It worked a treat as the more you use your vehicle the more you pay  ::thumb::

I agree thats the way it should be, plus all those people who dont pay car tax have to pay something  now

Luckily for me I have a Horse & Cart.
Although I expect this current odious communist establishment who are the original inventors of horse manure, and are themselves very un Stable will find a way of taxing my horse Dobbin and his sister Neddy some time in the near future, it is extortion of biblical proportions. .
They both already have long faces.
After dark it will be potentially a night Mare.

You don't really have a horse and cart. The OP was making an interesting point about car tax and insurance. Yeah, he's got a nice set of wheels. Don't be bitter/jealous.

Btw, do you rent yourself out at weekends for kids parties???

That's good go hear. Common sense and logical thinking in high office. That doesn't often occur.

I recall here when those in the know stopped issueing tax discs so millions took the risk and stopped paying road tax.

I also recall a lot further back when some non payers put beer mats in the tax display holders. No I was not one of them!

blingo

Fact is, hundres of cars were coming into gib to fill up on a daily basis so it made sense to let them pay for the roads as they were still saving a lot on a full tank of fuel

Grumpy Worthing White

Vauxhall Grandland 1.2 ltr Turbo on a 73 plate. I`ve forgotten how much vehickle excise duty I pay.....whoever has got an mortgage with a well known bank is paying for it out of the interest I get. P.S. don`t tell Rachel from accounts.....Oop`s sorry I forgot she`s got the tin tack.

In my case first one was on a busy A road. I couldn't stop. They asked me for photographic evidence of the pot hole. When I drove back they had filled it in and denied it. Like I said, a bunch of cretins.

Not yet oh wise one.  as at the moment I am busy renting myself out to bare knuckle boxing and training to defend my Yard of Ale Title at the next contest.
So I shall have to leave the kids parties to you and TK. As I envisage it is right up both your alleys.
On second thoughts old timer. Cancel the kids parties as they might think your the Grim Reaper and frighten the life out of them, as you certainly frighten me and my horse Dobbin and his sister Neddy.
Although TK will be fine. but best you stay at home until further notice.

On another matter are you Super Freeman named after Darren Freeman as he was my daughters favourite player when he played. ?
However due to work commitments she doesn't attend any more
