Nah Jordan James WAS at brum as a kid signed by Rennes young - had a meh season in Ligue as a teen, went on loan to Leicester last year with an option. Had a very good year it seems - but they got relegated so presumably player wasn't interested in the move, and or Liecester couldnt afford the fee with their financial woes.

Long term Reed replacement I would say - 15 G/A last season playing anywhere from attacking to defensive midfield in a honking Leicester team and only 22

If he is a Reed replacement, then it feels a smart bit of business and possibly a step up.

If he's a potential Lukic replacement, I'd be a little more anxious.

Wouldn't mind this signing, but not sure it will happen, if it is true what I have seen on the ever reliable X, that RM want to retain 50% of his registration as I am not sure that is allowed under PL rules

A player can't be owned by multiple entities in the PL, but for this purpose they would just have it be a 50% sell on and it serves the same purpose.

Just done a quick google search, it seems Nico Paz singed for Como for €6m and Real Madrid had a 50% sell on fee (I think they bought 50% of his economic rights). They then bought him outright recently for €60m. Again this is just what I've found in Google I'm not 100% sure.

But presuming that's correct, I highly doubt we'll spend £30-40m + on Gonzalo Garcia and Real Madrid will have 50% sell on fee. I imagine it would be something like a big fee upfront with them retaining 20% sell on fee and right of first refusal. If they get a 50% sell on fee it will be because we only purchase him for a significantly smaller fee. In my mind that makes sense but who knows.

It would be pretty insane spend a large sum of our whole transfer budget to include 50% of profit later on.

Rumoured contract from online is 5m euros net too - so that seems insane.

He's good, clearly has talent but the reported fees kicking about are wild.

Why? Football is a team sport and he was the championship young player of the season so individually he was recognised as having a good year and that Leicester team had an awful defense

With Lukic possibly going we really need to think "who do we have in the 6-8 positions" - Berge, Reed, TC, Iwobi if there's no Lukic. But it seems we're looking at an 8 anyways. also, AA would likely be experimenting with the likes of all the 10's (ESR, King, youth) and CB's remaining, to see who could do a job if needed in the 6 and 8 positions. For me, I would be okay seeing Lukic go, if there's someone ready to step in that's hungrier with better sell-on.

Might be a year where the goal is don't get relegated, but reshape the squad. Then next season is push on. Nail biting time, but I didn't mind the championship, and I'm frustrated with mid-table, so close to Europe but boring and uninspired footy.
