Would be a very Fulham move for our first signing (other than JKA), in a window where we need 5+ new players, to be in the one position where we don't need to sign someone.

Well seeing as AA is playing Iwobi at CM, we need both a senior LW and RW option as our only natural & first team experienced wingers in the squad now are Kevin & Bobb. Sure ESR can play there but he predominantly plays central so we need two wingers now.

I still think it's kind of unlikely we surface with any of the Real players. Can't put my finger on it but it doesn't feel like something we'd pull off.

Just done a quick google search, it seems Nico Paz singed for Como for €6m and Real Madrid had a 50% sell on fee (I think they bought 50% of his economic rights). They then bought him outright recently for €60m. Again this is just what I've found in Google I'm not 100% sure.

But presuming that's correct, I highly doubt we'll spend £30-40m + on Gonzalo Garcia and Real Madrid will have 50% sell on fee. I imagine it would be something like a big fee upfront with them retaining 20% sell on fee and right of first refusal. If they get a 50% sell on fee it will be because we only purchase him for a significantly smaller fee. In my mind that makes sense but who knows.

Nico Paz was 6 mio with a buy back at 9 mio....Inter wanted him and were prepared to pay 60 mio so Real bought him back and Como matched the price so he is back here in Como...I believe that there is another buy-back clause...

Likely an option at CM or CAM. Would provide competition.

We could play two AMs, one DM and two wingers which would then make sense to buy Palacios. And if he can also play CM, then he can drop back and we play two CMs and one AM when there is a need to.

I will be very, very disappointed if there's any buy-back/sell-on if we pay that much for him. Madrid are getting all their upside on an unproven player now, we can't be giving them more (reference Paz where the fee paid was tiny vs. the buyback/resale).

If true, are they just trying to help finance the impending incoming Yan Diomande ?  Seems way too much to me, for a lad who hasn't fully justified first team selection.

I can't imagine the club would be stupid enough to agree to a buy back unless it's a big bump on what we bid.

60m seems a huge leap from that though. Suppose somewhere in that gap could be how the deal is structured and what sells on or buybacks are included

Obviously if we're paying that much it would almost certainly be for his full rights you would think - but may still include a buy back

That's what they sold Nico Paz for to Como with an €80m buyback clause valid till end of next summer only.

For a football director who's supposedly shrewd/stingy, I would be very surprised if we offer them anywhwere near 60m and if we did then I pray to baby Jebus that there's no buy-back clause and no sell-on percentage.
