Spanish friend of mine here in Madrid, lifelong RM fan, told me Mastantuono had told RM that he "doesn't want to go to any league or club that isn't primarily Spanish speaking." Which indicates to me that his English levels are abysmal, and so is his willingness to learn or adapt. Also, my friend says he is crap anyways, but he thinks Garcia could become very good. So perhaps we dodged a bullet. Still, just one man's opinion.

That's me. I'm too lazy to learn a foreign language  :slap:

Well I am not gonna elaborate too much on my Spanish levels after having been here for 8 years, let's just say it could've been better. Then again, neither of us make a career based on moving countries every few years I suppose ::wine::

It's what I thought would happen, small fee and 50% sell on rights. I think that pretty much guarantees we won't give them 50% sell on fee for Garcia if we pay a big fee. I expect a big fee and something like 20% sell on fee with rights of first refusal

I wonder if Yves Bissouma is still training with us

Garcia 60 million is being reported, is something that we are offering find it amazing if true especially they are looking at 30million with 50% buy back and we are offering double as we have to be breaking the SCR rules unless it is down to contract length and wages.
If true Tk accepting Madrid standing of there power in football and not playing his hardball game.

50% sell on? At least it's only €8m.

It's an interesting and relatively novel situation, we've got a coach who knows real's academy incredibly well and he seems intent to bring in ideally three of their players, graduates he knows well and has coached and who seem highly regarded by Madrid.

There must therefore be a significant belief that he can get the best of out the players, that they perform well under him and have a good relationship, but also have a high ceiling.

Hopefully that all proves to be the case. Though could all unravel fast if Arbeloa doesn't get results

Not too sure - couldn't spot him in the videos, and I haven't seen reports about him joining the pre-season tour.

60m euros on Garcia for 100% of the rights, based on AA knowledge of the player is a huge risk.

Probably the biggest gamble our club has taken.

Personally, don't know how I feel about it - but also feels like there isn't a background strategy, and it's ask the manager who he wants. Which long-term is risky if AA gets off to slow start.

And if Arbeloa has got the boot by January will Garcia fit in with Dycheball?

Interested in Nwaneri, Arsenal reject FC strikes again! (at least Jay will be happy)

Good player but very similar to Bobb.

Similar, but Nwaneri knows where the goal is while Bobb appears afraid to shoot. Nwaneri can also play in a few positions.

Bobb can learn that. Nwaneri would probably cost more than ESR or we'd sign on loan with no option.

I wouldn't be opposed to re-signing Chuk if the price was right, he was superb before the ACN and would give us options on either wing.

We barely ever counter attacked last season, favouring painfully slow build ups, so we didn't get the most from Chuk and Kevin. I haven't seen the full match friendlies but sounded like we're playing a bit quicker on the break under Arbeloa.

It feels like one of those where he could be a flop, or could be Spain's national starting striker based on how conversations are seemingly going with regards to Garcia. Obviously there are lots of ifs and buts in that and if we're all being honest, none of us have a clue how it'll pan out - so it's definitely a risk, and if 60m is true, a very expensive one. Devil in the detail though

Apparently now Fulham are supposedly looking to sign Garcia for close to 70m AND with Real keeping a preferential purchase option... This seems ridiculous and bordering on stupid if so, though if Real pay £100m for him, then it works?

How likely vs unlikely though...?

I call BS on that. The club are no mugs financially. I also expect some of the fee is based on us playing in Europe, etc.

As long as not a buy back for stupid price isn't included then I'm sort of ok with it, I am assuming (probably a mistake lol, that the preferential purchase option is first choice on buying if we wish to sell and or allowed to match any accepted bid

Angus Telford

If all Real are getting is a right of first refusal, I don't care. That doesn't stop us capitalising on 100% of any growth in the player's value.

However the big 20% or 50% sell-on fees, or buy-bacm options at a moderate strike price, are half way towards taking the player on loan without an option, ie, where we develop the player for another club's benefit.

On a player Arbeloa knows well and believes in, I'd rather we stick our necks out and pay a bigger fee with no sell-on. He who dares wins, as Del Boy used to say.

Obviously we have to cut our cloth sensibly so we're going to have to use sell-on incentives to negotiate lower fees on some deals. To be honest a deal like Nwaiwu where we gambling on a good half season, is the sort of deal I'd prefer us to hedge our bets on.
