Anyway since I can't be bothered to spend any more of my lunch break dealing with silly arguments I will say three things:

I think Garcia's a great signing and he looks like a really exciting talent, I can't wait to see what he'll do on the pitch for us in a Fulham shirt and fully support him.

I have reservations over the structure of the deal, personally I think the terms are unfavourable towards us.

However on balance I am positive about this and am glad that the club is finally doing something in the transfer market this summer.

Great news on getting Garcia. €40m/£30m is actually very reasonable fee for a striker with his potential - already has a full Spanish cap and featured in 40+ games across all comps for Real last season so must have something about him. 30% sell on for any fees above €40m is steep but the initial fee is very decent so swings and roundabouts. I'm more interested in what he can do for Fulham on the pitch at this stage.

Palacios seems another good talent and if the €8—10m + 30% sell on is to be believed, very cheap. Had initial concerns as was primarily reported to be a no.10 and thought that wasn't a priority to strengthen (especially as didn't want to impede Josh's game time and development any further), but on closer inspection he has played almost the same number of games as a left forward (even has better goals to games return from there) so is good cover. Imagine for the price it looks like he may (at least initially) be understudy to Kevin / Josh or ESR but Arbeloa (who's been around good players long enough to hopefully know how to spot them) must believe in him as clearly he's pushed for him so at that price he's a low risk punt on future high potential.

Either way they look like very encouraging signings. Arbeloa cannot say he hasn't been backed!

Just catching up with excitement. After reading all the quoted posts I understand the gist is some are concerned about profit when we sell a player who hasn't actually officially signed for us yet. Weird.

Sorry to be negative but £25m profit off a £100m+ sale wouldn't feel great to me - and that's assuming he gets sold for that which feels more unlikely than not. For context, that's the same amount of profit we got for selling Sessegnon to Tottenham and that was 7 years ago (equivalent to £33m now).

£25m profit maybe but we'd then have £60m in the bank and with how SCR works that single sale in this hypothetical instance means you're then able to spend about £100m off the back of it, which for us is huge

Don't forget that 40 mil Euro fee will be amortised over the length of the contract up to a Max. 5 years. So assuming a 5 year contract that's 8 mil per year on the books.

Not to be a Debbie Downer but it's Khan's capital, not yours. What you've done is paid into a company of which I assume you have a shareholding of 0.00% (happy to be corrected).

Football clubs might be limited companies in legal terms but in reality they're more like public institutions or mutual societies. The fans are the club, and I suspect, for example, the state would intervene if an owner ever tried to liquidate or vandalise the club in a way he'd be free to do without challenge if we were simply another company.

I also sympathise with NZU's comment about the profit share, although in this case, I think if we get a young, top class striker for a relatively modest (these days) £35m and will still receive 70% of any profit* on his sale, that to me is still a good deal.

*Must admit i'm not sure whether the convention is for the selling club to get 30% of the sale fee or just 30% of the profit
