Does this all point to being TKs fault? Didn't read the situation right with Silva, and subsequently didn't give him the reassurances he wanted, so Silva left and TK wasn't ready.

Deliberates on who to bring in, then gets Arbeloa, who plays a different style and arguably needs a different type of player and squad..

We then sign three, but have already let Wilson, Raul, Diop, Chukwueze all go and have now left it last minute again to bring in far too many players that we need to fill out the squad and play in the new managers preferred style..

Surely when getting in a manager you understand the squad and how it's suited to the manager to understand how much change is needed re personnel.

Then, it looks like we're signing 2CMs when realistically we need one, are pushing it to the wire to get what seems to be a 4th or 5th choice centre back, not addressing so far it seems a need for a RW and RB.. and also looking like we're in talks with two CBs, one who's young but hasn't exactly been pulling up trees qns the other who's on high wages though would be a good fit

Yes, it hardly points to a coherent plan. Ideally you want a balanced squad that isn't manager dependent. Making a hard pivot when apparently there was no plan B for a different manager does seem a bit reactive.

Can we please find a CB that is pacy & at least 195cm.

Affengruber is the latest, but he's 6'0/6'1 but he covers ground. More used to playing in a back three though, was the last I heard.

We are certainly always late, but I do think it makes more sense than previous windows given the prices that some players have gone for this summer.

Given our revenues aren't as high as other clubs, we need to be cautious - so while frustrating I do understand it more than previous years now that the fees have got out of hand.

Even average players want 35-45m.

If things crash this afternoon/evening and we end up getting a load of dross in the door then the consequences will not be good.

Obligatory:

He's not a slouch, faster than ya average CB but not Super speedy - someone suggested somewhere his top speed is faster than Bassey from looking it up since that doesnt seem to be the case . Pretty Mobile though.

Perhaps AA is gonna switch to a back three if two CBs arrive.

Goes to show the importance of having a strong scouting network to find talent under the radar. Buying within the Prem is now ridiculously inflated.

BBC reporting deals nearly done...

Fulham have agreed deals to sign Hugo Larsson for €25m and Manuel Angel on undisclosed fee from Real Madrid.
Latter signing is the third from Alvaro Arbeloa's former club Real Madrid.
The other players who have joined former Real Madrid youth coach Álvaro Arbeloa are, 22-year-old Gonzalo García for £34 million and 21-year-old César Palacios for £8.5 million.
Both players have permission to do a medical.

Probably RE TK, but equally MS, the latter left us with an aging squad that was nothing more than top of the bottom half, a few younger prospects, but so far Bobb, Kevin and ESR are yet to really play to their price tag! - A full overhaul was always destined to happen given the age of the team, it was a ticking time bomb really.

I think ESR should start ahead of King. Controversial opinion perhaps, but I like ESR, think he's underrated and also ESR has a better proven ability to put the ball in the back of the net and join up play.

I'd put Kevin on the left and Iwobi on the right. You'd automatically be improving your goalscoring chances with that as a three behind the striker than what we've got currently. Bobb hasn't got his confidence with goalscoring yet and need to be pressured into it.

Palacious should play through the middle and not left wing, but we're stacked there and he's got time to develop. His eye for a ball is great in my view, but he needs to bulk up a bit.

Agree re Palacios it is also his main position. King needs to put on some muscle as he is to easily pushed aside. Has so much talent but gets knocked over too easily.

Iwobi wide is where I think he is better so agree there, I think Kevin needs to be more a team player and deliver the ball, for me at the moment he is too much show and not enough delivery

maybe, but not if he cannot deliver the ball for Garcia and those in the box. Same issue (for different reasons) for Palacios. It could be due to the fashion for inverted wingers (or narrow wingers) but what we need is supply, so as long as those wide do that I am ok with whoever it is.

Didn;t they just sign Tammy so he's likely still going to be isn't he?

Carborundum

Larsson and Angel would complete the midfield rebuild the team has been crying out for during the past two seasons.  This was well overdue and it's welcome.

We've now got to deal with a self-inflicted pickle at CB.  The correct lens to view the current candidates is: why are they clearly better than Issa Diop?  More questions than answers.

If Ratiu ends the night sporting a cheesy grin in an Everton shirt....stranger things have happened.
