Somehow I fear the Prem will bottle this. There is so much investment in this country from Abu Dhabi and the government will be scared to upset them too much and will pressure the Prem into going lightly on Citeh.

I say, that's irrelevant, major cheating deserves major punishment!

Many clubs have faced extinction over the years and somehow survived and fought their way back to some kind of existence. (As we know so well)

How the punishment affects the City's future is a minor concern.

I agree. The media weren't worried about Luton supporters or fans from Sheffield Wed or
Derby County. Why are Man City fans any different?
In fact given that a proportion are plastic I'd say they are less deserving of sympathy!

As well as that, man city was so much obviously breaking rules compared to the others. People have to take some accountability for supporting such practises

I don't think the  football authorities have any choice but to throw the book at City, and think there will be be serious punishment, but there is much discussion as to what that will be - some think City should be kicked out of the league, some think  fines and points deduction - which would likely mean relegation.

I do have some sympathy for fans - the fans are always the ones who suffer.

If it's a fine and anything less than a 50 point deduction then that sends the signal that you can do whatever you want.

Can the Premiership require a change of Board as well?

I wouldn't mind betting that the Premier League Board are secretly hoping the Man City case will be thrown out by the High Court to protect their cash cow.

A solution would be for ALL the other Premiership clubs to refuse to play City in any competition for, say three years.

That would mean city get awarded a 3-0 win for every game .

Have you read just how narrow the grounds are for a high court appeal? City might try (after exhausting the earlier steps) but a successful high court appeal seems incredibly unlikely.

...or ... now bear with me here .... DON'T punish City ...

Just give every other team a 50 points bonus .... That way City get away with it, but every other side benefits.

It's an idea...   ::wine::

That's certainly an idea, one concocted when inebriated. Also wouldn't help us, because now everyone has 50+ points, except City.

That may not get them relegated

Yeah that's my point. If you can cheat to this level and only receive a 50 point or less deduction, then you might not even relegate. If that's the case, then it'd be a farce and would result in every club spending whatever they liked.

Snibbo

If the points deduction is big enough to relegate them, that doesn't mean the EFL has to accept them. Club in search of a league.

I'm curious about Pep Guadiola's knowledge/involvement.
Could you be in his position & not know what was going on?
Rat, sinking ship come to mind.

News just mentioned an appeal by Citeh.
Incredible. They will find a way.

SuffolkWhite

I think if Citeh get away with this and var continues as it is, chuck in the cost of living  and ticket prices, then fans will vote with their feet ultimately.

I'm going to a none league game today where I can drink a pint whilst watching a game at a more agreeable price with no var, agreed the standard is waaay below the  Prem.
