Would he be the smallest Fulham player since Bobby Moss?
Have you forgotten Pesky already ?

Why does Mr Fulham always talk such good sense?

I'd be happy if we signed Arshavin, especially on a free. I see the point that we have a vast number of attacking players, however, some of these have little/no Prem experience... now whilst I appreciate that they are very talented players, especially the likes of Frei, Kaca & Dejagah - will they be able to turn a game like the experienced Russian man will? I'm not so sure.

I think whilst Kaca looked very good against Southampton when Richardson came on we looked a far more balanced side with a bit more strength down the left.

I think we are sometimes blinded by what the press lead us to believe, however if we actually remember what we have SEEN, i.e 4 goals against LFC (albeit 3 years ago), countless assists and in Russia's opening game of Euro2012 he was exceptional. If we manage to get that performance out of him 7-10 times a season then he could be a really effective signing.

If we manage to keep him fit and in shape, I see no reason why he can't perform to a high standard in the middle rather than being chucked out on the left.

Just my opinion, but I'd have Andrei.

(I have a soft spot for Russia/Zenit players)

He's a very good player and is only 31. I don't see a problem with signing him. He still has a lot to offer.

You came all this way ... and you lost, and you lost.

He'll be off to Reading I would think - they will pay him more and have the Rusky connection.

yet another in a long series of articles that have, as their presupposition, Fulham's role in the Premier League is to take elderly, crocked, or difficult players off the rosters of the "top" clubs.
They are not that wrong with that.

To answer the questions, the rumour can't be anything more than agent talk and re-hashing an old story in what must be a slow day for news. I don't want him to join us as it's going to impede on the development of Frei and Kacaniklic, both of whom are on the verge of their respective national squads. For what it's worth, I don't think either of the youngsters will ever reach the level of which Arshavin has in the past, but they'll both become competent Premier League players.

The left wing or wide left slot is one we don't need to strengthen, so I really can't see any justification for acquiring Arshavin. During his tenure at Arsenal, I must have watched 75% of their televised games as my good mates are fans. Arshavin was bobar for them, really poor and disinterested after the honeymoon period wore off. For Zenit last season he was fantastic and back to his best, whilst for Russia he was impressive during the Euros. It's clear he still has the ability to tear a defence apart, but for the reasons stated in the first paragraph, it's a no.

fulham traveller

yes for me, would put ffc on the russian map as well, so when i go off to sharm and meet the ruskies i can say arshevin, seriously a good free agent, worth a punt

cottage cheese

there is no risk in this at all. Sign him on a one year deal

People forget, Petric had a god awful season in light of how good he can be and no one picked up on that.

We wont know untill arshavin actually signs

perry geyton

i have a bad feeling that where gonna swap him for Brede !

Me-ate-Live, innit??

Well it is possible,   another talented player who has not realised his potential ............ we appear to be in the market for that type of player  :023:

Has Brede signed that contract extension yet  ????

............ on the plus side Wenger has never signed a Fulham Player

As for tiddler player I used to think it was Pembo  but actually it was Steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed at 5' 6''

Arshavin had a great half-season, a fair half-season, and two full seasons of frustrating management and fans by playing at half speed and showing no pitch awareness. The only decent football he played after that great first half-season with Arsenal was during his loan period to Russia when he was trying to regain the shirt he lost by being so dire in the Prem. He's done nothing for them this season, and he'll just be a lazy underachiever for us. Skills, yes. Attitude, no.

Don't want him; don't need him; he'll lower the overall quality of the squad.

My sentiments exactly. He's bad news. You need a different type of player anyways
Berbatov has Cantona's knack of being the man amid a stampede towards the door who stops to notice a side exit that nobody else has seen.

Jonathan Northcroft on Berbatov:  "...like a man in silk pyjamas shooting pigeons from a deckchair"

I think he'd be a good short term signing.  Wenger says his attititude is actually pretty good and that hestill trains hard despite not being part oftheir first team plans.  I would think he still has something to prove and could offer us two years good service.  On his day he is a class player, and itcan't b a bad thing having another class player on our books.

KCat - how many playerslike that have we picked up and they've gone on to shine for us?  Murphy, Hughes, Duff, Zamora (to a point).  Most on here thought they were past their best/hadn't fulfilled their potential.

If we could land him on a wage that doesn't break the club's wage structure, then I for one am all for it.

Why would they do that when they have 3 absolutely quality CBs?

Mertesaker strolls into the Germany squad, same with Koscielny and France. Vermaelen is the Capt. of Belgium.

They also have Djourou, who whilst he isn't the best would probably get into most PL teams... It's probably one of Arsenals strongest positions.

I can't see Brede going to Arsenal.

I always like some veteran players in my teams especially in midfield. A smart calm possessor of the ball sounds good to me. I do understand the wish to go with the youth movement, but having a guy with the class of a shaven arse can't hurt, Can it?

DiegoFulham

I personally unlike others think this could actually be a good signing, before Arsenal he singled Handley won the UEFA/Europa League for that Russian team that Pog played as...

Isn't Arshavin a forward? I believe he plays as a second forward, something like Bryan Ruiz. Anyway, I think we have enough attacking players. If I were in Jol's shoes, I would be looking for an established creative CM as we lack creativity. Bryan Ruiz seems to be playing this role but creativity is definitely not his thing.
