There is no doubt that Marcos departure has been handled very poorly by all parties. The club have come across as weak and lacking vision and Marco has come across as manipulative / mercenary. Keeping Fulham (the club he professes to love) on hold whilst he attempts to close a more "attractive" proposition for himself elsewhere has been a PR disaster for all concerned and left a bitter taste.

If he had lost the buzz/drive for Fulham, believed he had reached a natural conclusion to his tenure or just couldn't stand working within the parameters set by the club senior executive, he should have just left gracefully and by doing so left on great terms with the fans who would have lauded him for the great job that he has done. Now it all feels rather sour and this long running saga needs to come to a quick conclusion.

As for moving forward, that is all that matters now !!!! No time to look back and wonder what might have been, we need a first class manager with the capacity to tap into a global scouting network. Whilst I have grave concerns on our executive team finding that person, I would be very surprised if they have not already had conversations with potential candidates.

I have been worried for some time now that there has been very little news emanating around Thomas Frank next position. Usually there is some gossip about next landing spots but where TF has been concerned there has been very little beyond him signing for the BBC as a pundit for the World Cup.

I decided to look at the latest odds for next FFC manager and whilst this list looks far fetched and all rather depressing it came as no surprise to me to see Mr Frank in the hot seat. Personally, I have nothing against TF per se, he comes across as an excellent bloke and anecdotally I hear very positive things from friends and ex colleagues who know or have worked with him.

He is not however the right appointment for Fulham and we need to show that we still harbour ambition beyond just Premier League survival.

Wouldn't mind O'Neil for a year with Hayden Mullins as assistant with a view to taking over with O'Neil moving to DOF.

Glasner having talks with AC Milan

Neutral Zone Ultra

Why would Glasner leave Palace (with Europa League) to come to us with no European football at all? Can't see that happening for one second.

Of the bookies list, Knutsen McKenna or Terzic are my preferred options.

Cambridge Away

Odds have shortened on McKenna

I mean we've had a song for years calling Frank a sex offender so why on earth would he want to come here, the optics would be bizarre

McKenna is maybe a like for like in terms of system, Terzic would be an interesting one too. Bordelas would be awful, like an effective Parkerball on steroids so lets not have any suggestions of him please. Knutsen gets too much control of Bodo I think to come here, he also gets a  % of player sales so very lucrative.

I'd take a look at the Marcelinho the Villareal manager because he's just left his position I think

Blimey anyone would think our manager is leaving ????

Neutral Zone Ultra

I would also want us to look at Rayo Vallecano's manager Inigo Perez. Was supposed to be Iraola's assistant at Bournemouth but couldn't get a work permit, obviously now doing good things at Rayo getting them to European finals (which should be our aim). So if the work permit is no longer an issue I'd want us to consider him.

Also, anyone know what Pep Lijnders is up to now Guardiola's left City?

General

Personally would like Pochettino or Glasner in an ideal scenario. Problem with Poch is he's away for the World Cup so will make this summer a very messy one for us in terms of transition.

Disappointed by Marco leaving and think the OP summed it up well that either way it goes to reflect poorly on the club - either from a senior exec perspective, having trousers pulled down, not sorting sooner, leaving it at such a pivotal season, or not giving a clearly committed manager the parameters he wants to operate properly, as he is a very good manager if resourced properly.

Thomas Frank, though he managed Brentford, we have to be honest that he did a good job on arguably even more limited budget/resources.

Slot perhaps as an outsider, a big name - but did averagely with a liverpool squad, and not sure he's the type of character that would do well with our current squad?

Are there any more managers out there?

What happened to Felipe Luis - thought he was an interesting Candidate?

I personally want the ownership to take on an ambitious name, I don't want us to go back to unproven managers who may or may not be potentially very good at this level.. I want someone who genuinely makes me think - ok, this is a good appointment - in fact, someone who makes us all think that.

I'm personally not inspired by McKenna - not because he's not a decent manager, but he's not really done much in terms of PL. I definitely don't want Rosenior, I don't think he's good enough yet at PL level.

Martin O'neill just feels like one of those names that is constantly chucked out.

A shame, an end of an era, and the board are going to have to fork out quite a lot now, because I'd be surprised if Wilson, Chuk and Raul stay.

Uncertain times!

I'm pulling your leg NZU.
Looks like it's all ramping up now and you would imagine confirmation anytime now. Is there any smoke coming from The Cottage Chimneys be handy if someone local could check???

Had half a season at NEC when they were in second tier in Netherlands. They were glad to see the back of him.

Whoever comes next, he'll surely start by asking for what Silva's been offered (£7m / yr) so negotiations will be protracted.
It's a balls up.

Completely agree - for supposed great businessmen they've fully had their hand exposed!
