Sipwell, when they were both at Alkmaar, what position did Moussa play in comparison to El Hamdaoui?

Moussa was the deep winger, centering balls for El Hamdaoui (not necessarily assists).

Thanks Sipwell. To be fair, I think that's been Moussa's best position for us. let's hope we can make this one happen. He's in the right budget range for us. Would have friends at the club already and if he can keep up his form in the EPL we could have something very special upfront.

This Dutch web-site are saying the deal is nearly completed, that would be quick but for 4.5 million Euro's, it could be very good business.

AMSTERDAM - Ajax and Mounir El Hamdaoui are almost rid of each other. A transfer to Fulham of the attacker is almost done, according to Sport 1. The transition is reportedly an amount of 4.5 million euros. El Hamdaoui was last year for around five million euros brought to Amsterdam by Martin Jol. He became coach of Fulham yesterday.

Sounds like an absolute snip for someone with his goal-scoring record!! Even if his attitude isn't great, he knows Jol and I'm sure he will be able to get the best out of him. Could mean AJ on his way out though?

Just as I told you that Jol was signing, I have some more ITK.

We have had a £5.5m bid rejected today for Mounir El Hamdaoui and we are likely to end up paying around £7m for him.

couple of lovely finishes in there, the rest are ordinary (though think he'd only been on the pitch all of 30 seconds for that goal at No.10).

What type of player is he and would he work well with BZ? quick? workhorse? drops off the front line? fox in the box?

He is a finisher. I think he could partner very well with Zamora (as he attracts defenders). He is a "fox in the box" kind of player. Also, he scores A LOT of goals: 50 goals in 81 games for AZ, 13 goals in 22 games for Ajax.

To be fair, everyone scores alot in that league. Remember that guy Boro got, Alfonso Alves. He had like a goal per game ratio and just look how he did in the PL.

I've heared that he isn't wanted anymore and De Boer doesn't want him to stay. 7m are ridiculous. Some say 3.5-4.5 is more likely.

Only that his buddy Jolly wants to bring in Hammy to rock the Hammy and to keep The Moose happy.

Frankly, this reminds me of the ""Fulham to take Konchesky back" in the papers last season. It seemed as if the press considered it our duty to make deals with Liverpool designed to improve THEIR squad and reduce the friction in THEIR clubhouse.

I'm sure this guy has some skills -- although I bet I could find you a highlight reel of EJ's goals with Dallas and KC that would have people salivating -- but the fact also is that he sulks when things don't go his way and is a public whiner. This doesn't sound particularly Fulham to me, but -- evidently -- this is balanced out by the fact that he's tight buddies with Dembele. I guess when Moussa goes to a "big club" for "big quid" next summer, that "big club" will help improve our squad and reduce our clubhouse friction by signing him as well.

Yeah, right.

Is he Gera, is he Gera, is he Gera in disguise?

He's a whiner...yes. But I prefer that he's a goalscorer and Jol's buddy.

Things didn't go his way at Ajax, there are a few stories. The club wasn't too nice to him too, so there's two sides really.

From Sport 1 http://www.sport1.nl/nieuws/19297-matavz-vervangt-mounir-az-aast-op-drenthe.html

The long-awaited transfer of Mounir El Hamdaoui to Fulham is almost done. Ajax striker following the departure of Martin Jol banished to the bench, but it is in England another chance to coach his beloved work.

Ajax receives about 4.5 million euros for the Moroccan who is only one season of Amsterdam. El Hamdaoui was last years top scorer with 13 goals in the Arena Club, but could not get along with coach Frank de Boer.

"Long awaited"? You mean a whole day?

never got a run out for tottenham, but was only 20/21 at the time
Dutch player of the yr in 08/09

I'd be happy with him up front w/ Demeble/ BZ

He played European football with AZ and with Ajax and kicked balls in versus Milan and many other high fliers. Also, the argument that people score a lot in the Dutch Eredivisie is true, but you need to score goals in order to win games anyway and the goalkeepers aren't bad, nor are the defenders. It is just an open type of play, with attacking intentions on both sides. That doesn't mean you give your opponent a free passage to your goal!
