Thanks Mr White JC sir.

My mutha in law has suggested hot water, with honey and fresh lemon.

Sounds far too sensible, with a distinct lack of alcohol.

Go to bed with lots of blankets warm drink and sweat it out, also a steam inhaler helps with the blocked doze

Vapour rub under your nose, on your chest, go and sit in a sauna with a box of Kleenex and sweat it out as Mr. Epsom Raver said
@sonikkicks on Twitter.

The Doctor

To help with the excellent "sweat it out" advice offered, I always go for a face-meltingly hot curry and a few drams of whiskey.  The little git won't know what's hit it and will hoist the white flag before the day's out

Take a couple of Red Hot Escort's ( and I don't mean the ones made by Ford) to bed for about 6 hours it should either do the trick or kill you, either way you won't have your cold still  :dft012:

Thanks for the advice guys. I rarely get sick but have a real doozie. (I know that is not a word but it sounds right).Bloody colds 096.gig

Airfix

Port.  Amazingly it works, especially when taken at the first onset of the cold.

I got some rather good advice in a thread I ran in Jan after being struck down with the cold from hell:

If you wake up in the morning and nothing hurts, you are most likely dead

Burt

Wow thanks for all the advice guys, and in particular for Mr Finn who must have the memory of something with a fantastic memory to have dug out that link...

I'm off to sweat it out a bit and try some of the suggested remedies. Curry later  :dft011:

From an Aurelio Zen book I read once, I was convinced to try downing a bottle of red wine and eating a few cloves of garlic. Sadly this didn't work, partly because halfway through the bottle of wine I had to have a cigarette, then a few more. I stank when her indoors got home, and I still had a cold the next day (and the next, and the next, as Slade the Leveller once put it).

In truth there is no cure for the common cold, it's just time. There are things you can do to not make it so severe, like not smoking for a start, but time's the only real cure. Calling it manflu and acting - correctly I have no doubt - like you are at death's door will likewise do nothing for it, but you might get waited upon all evening unless you push it.
Cigarettes and women be the death of me, better that than this old town

A shot and a half of the magical remedy shown below every four hours. A freshly made bed, comfy pillows and a TV remote in hand and a book or magazine.

2. Tea [English penicillan]
3. Get horizontal
4. Watch black and white movies on television

By the way, Burt and Jarv, I've been fighting a cold since the flight home last Wednesday. You gots some SUPER bugs in England!

Why thank you Mr HD sir. We take our export business very seriously, and the quality of our bugs is the envy of the world.

This particular strain was developed by frying myself for two weeks of 35deg+ temperatures in Gozo before coming back to the arctic conditions that were the remnants of the UK's "summer", and then getting absolutely drenched twice in quick succession - once at the Autolegends motorshow, the other after the home game v. Blackburn.

Worked a treat  :dft011:
