Danny and his family will shortly be moving into a house they're having built in Surrey so presumably they are not looking to leave the area

Mr Fulham

I really don't see a reason for a derisory offer. It worked out for four years, with four one year deals....why not now?

New manager. Desire to get average squad age down. I don't know what you read into the the Jol comments in The Mirror piece but to me it suggests that Jol and the club place very little value on the older players, don't see thay anyone else will want them and see contract discussions with them as their lowest priority. He very clearly emphasises the need to concentrate on the young players and their contracts.

Murphy's contracts -

2007 - one year - http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2007/August/MurphyJoins.aspx

2008 - one year with the option of another - http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2008/June/MurphySignsContract.aspx

2009 - 2 year contract - http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2009/August/MurphySignsExtension.aspx

2011 - 1 year contract - http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2011/January/MurphySignsNewDeal.aspx

Murphy himself and his wife have said publicly that he wants to stay at Fulham - but he has yet to sign. Given that he has always happily signed short term contracts in the past & is a big part of a successful team why wouldn't he sign one now? I get a sense of negligence and carelessness by the club and assuming that just because he is 35 he will sign whatever contract they put in front of him no matter how ludicrous the terms. Murphy has said in the papers he thinks he has another season or two at the top left in him and, after the season he has just had, who could argue with that. Just because he has bought a new drum in Surrey doesn't mean he can't sign for Reading, Southampton, QPR, Norwich or even Villa.

Danny is still an integral and vital member of our squad. Against Sunderland there were 2 or 3 passes by Danny that nobody in our current squad could have even seen. let alone executed. We need at least another season from Danny. He is our heartbeat, our inspiration and our leader. Pay him what he wants - it will cost millions to replace him, even if we could find someone.

How do we know what the offer is and whether it is derosory? Surely that is speculation because the people that would know this are Danny his agent  and the club. So come on tell us how we know it is a derisory offer?

Quite. Trimming the quote there suffices.

`Respect' is an over-used term nowadays, but I too would hope for an offer that shows a bit of that -- reflecting his contribution, and incidentally the fact that we paid no transfer fee, hence have had great value. If we don't, then a Southampton etc will surely butter him up, which may count for at least as much as the financial terms. And Danny's younger than Scholes, as someone is bound to note if we fail to.
